Jumper 2 Surprise, Surprise

JumperJumper was made for a sequel; so with not the least bit of surprise I announce the news from an interview collider had with the director. Thanks to moviesonline for the hookup:

The concept for Jumper 2 is definitely a stretch. So much a stretch it feels the director is just hashing ideas more then talking about what the sequel is all about. Collider had an exclusive sit down with the director where he talked about the sequel and spilled the following;

“I actually have a ton of ideas for the sequel because this is whole new arena for me and so my mind was in overdrive the whole time and most of the ideas I came up with we either could tease or just save it for a sequel and so it’s…this power can be used to leave this planet, this power can be used ultimately to go back in time, this power can be used if you go and work for the government you’d be the ultimate Jason Bourne.”

So the sequel hasn’ t been written. but it has been announced, this does not seem like a good sign to me. The first installment was very frustrating, I enjoyed the use of the power and the camaraderie between the two jumpers, but their was not enough background info, the twists were lame and the story overall was a “boy chases girl” pile of bullshit. The above ideas that director throws around sound like the result of a killer hash session (we have all been there).

If they didn’t introduce so many lame tie ins from the first film i may have given the sequel a chance. As it stands right now, I have about the same desire to see Hayden Christensen in jumper 2 as I would Star Wars 7. I wish this franchise would teleport far away from earth, forever.

  1. i actually didnt mind jumper but left a lot to be desired from the rumours iv heard it will be a 2013 release for the sequal what sucks is it should of been sooner after all in the special features of the jumper they say there will be a sequal called REFLEX i hope so……

  2. Jumper 2: No country for old Jumper.

On a serious note, I think they should do a sequel. The movie was fantastic despite the obvious errors. The cast was good enough just fill in the blanks for the sequel and move it along. There is a lot they can do to make up for the first one.

  3. I for one am a firm believer in the fact that FANS make a movie. HADYEN CHRISTENSEN was wonderful in this movie as was Jamie Bell, Rachael Bilson and Samuel Jackson. They all need to be in the sequel, flesh out their characters, where they came from what has happened to them, where they’re going and why and then stun us with great locations and filming. HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN lights up the big screen like no actor I have seen since James Dean and Al Pacino, you just can not take your eyes off of him. He is what they refere to as a “star”. I enjoy movies that have 4 or more characters that you can get to know better with each sequel that’s what made Star Trek, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars so addictive. You just had to know what happened next. REGARDLESS, if Hayden is in the movie, I will see it..he’s an actor’s actor, worth every penny of the price of admission!

  4. I think Jumper it a really awesome movie but I think the idea or jumping in space really wrecks the idea. I would like to see more action in the film, and maby a new character with better powers then David. And then at the end David bets.

      1. They have, but it IS Hollywood… they won’t pay attention to books to save their lives.

But honestly, I like the idea of Paladins vs. other Jumpers. It’s way more interesting than the original story line.

  5. Jumper 2: White boy can’t act.

    Hayden Christensen: Cr*p actor!!!!

Cast with new David, new Millie (wth want’s Bilson’s irritating whine), stick with Bell.

    I’d watch it.

  6. I think it is weird Kristen Stewart was the sister in the end of the first film and the second one doesnt mention casting her and she is a major actress for such a small irrelevant part.

  7. I would love to watch Jumper 2! The possibilities of teleportation is exciting! Hopefully the budget will be bigger and the effects and storyline will be more action packed and draws the viewers in.

  8. i really enjoyed the first one i think that there should be a second one because things havent really cleared up between griffin and david i mean does griffin know that davids mom killed his parents? and hayden is a REALLY good actor. maybe the second one could be about um whats her name…err the girl that david was with i forgot her name haha well um i think it should be about what happens between them and what happens with david and his mother…jus saying a sequal would help alot

  9. hayden is a good actor and he was great in this movie just like starwars and he has many more yrs to come to get better and i dont no why people have to think they have to make a prequal to understand the story line and u dont. maybe his mother can get more involved with the chase and she has flashbacks of when he first jumped and she had to leave? u see no prequal to understand and doesnt’ have to be the first hour to make people understand!

  10. I think jumper 2 is a great idea, number 1 was a great movie and ive watched it twice and it still apeals to me even so i jumped onto the web and looked to see if there was gonna be a second one. i guess everyone has there own opinion and thats mine. i have many great ideas where #2 could go without destroying it and wish i could share those ideas with the director.

  11. i’ve not heard anything for ages now, maybe they gave up on it.

if they do make a new jumper i think it should be a prequel and give the plot holes some filling in.

  12. Yeah all you guys who want more storyline will see it turn out to be like the first hour or so from the peter jackson King Kong remake; it will be totally going off the movie’s subject. I had problems with the storyline but the effects and the idea of jumping kept me going. Yeah it could use some fixes and Hayden Christensen could use some more acting, but I will probably still see the sequel if it ever comes on HBO. Jumper 2: White Men Can’t Jump

  13. Jumper 2: Jumper vs Highlander – Hayden Christiansen and Christopher Lambert make the first unintentionally silent movie.
PLOT: The jumper (Christiansen) jumps in circles around the Highlander (Lambert) thinking he’ll cause the Highlander to turn himself into sushi with his sword, but the Highlander jumps into the wormhole and severs both their heads instaneuously and the Highlander and the Jumper end up back in Scotland in the mid 1500’s and die during an eclipse.
Special appearances by Ewan Mcgregor, Billy Connoly, Alan Cumming, and Gerard Butler reprising his Leonidas role from 300 for no apparent reason, but rumor has it Jumper 3 will include jumping back in time and reincarnation.

    1. this movie was cool but so many things was missing from the story but the effects was danm cool same with the sounds :) i hope Nr 2 will have abit more story in it and the same Cool stuff and actors from nr 1 .. think many Sequals Really sucks but time will tell if this is yet a offspin crap or a build on :) hoping for the Build on but think to many AM movies shtts up sequals .. sadly but hey Lets hope nr 2 will be even better then nr 1 move :D but small chance for this i know but DANM i hope :)

  14. I dont get it, if you people think the movie was that bad why are you on the internet searching for it? I absolutely loved the movie and can’t wait for a sequel. That would be an awesome power to have and besides it took place in my home town.

  15. Jumper 2 sounds like a real laugh to me. I mean there was no doubt in my mind they were going to make a sequel. Now the only way would see the sequel is if that girl were to get bigger breast. And show her with out any clothes on.

  16. I think people should stop making stupid titles for the sequel. The only good one was “Jumper: Jumping Straight to DVD”. Other ones are just plain stupid. Also, Jumper was a pretty good movie. A sequel would probably do pretty well, if the writers do some improvements on the script. Overall it’s a really cool idea and should be expanded on.

  17. The sequel should have Jumpers forming a Rebellion.. And waging war with with many Paladins.. And it should retain the chaotic battles around the planet.. “Leaving the planet” plot will fuck up the franchise!!

  18. Drop the Time travel story.. And focus on stopping the Paladins… It’s supposed to be about war with Jumpers and Paladins.. Changing the story is stupid..

  19. i think that jumper was 1 of the best films ive ever seen and am looking forward to a seqeul hope it can live up to the first one and hurry up and get here just pray they dont spoil it lol

  20. Somehow I love this movie. Realy.

No idea why, cause the background history (what history?) is kinda silly.

But I think the director didn’t want to concentrate on the history, I think that the focus of this film is the power (teletransportation) itself.

I can’t wait for the squel, and I hope a better explanation for the battle between the Jumpers and the Paladins.

  21. the movie jumper was cool but it could have been better.
I hope the sequel gives more of a background story about jumpers and the pilots or padlide or whatever the fuck their name is. also it would b a good twist if u bring back Kristen Stewart, and she become a jumper too.
Great actors great affects i seen the several times. can’t wait for the second

  22. jumper is 1 of the most coolest movies I’ve seen every one who says this movie is a piece of shit don’t know what there talking about or haven’t seen it so they just make up stuff.

I would pay twice as much to see a sequel to jumper.

P.S. Thanks to the director of jumper.

  23. People who complain about Jumper for whatever reasons should pull the stick out of their a$$ and just have fun. I just finished watching Jumper. I had fun. If you cant appreciate seeing a double decker bus being TPed from a city in the middle of the desert, you better check your pulse. Can’t stand lame critics. No one gives a damn about your 2 bit pompous nitpicking BS.

  24. I’m actually really suprised by all the negative comments. I fell in love with it so much that i ended up seeing 3 times (one right after the other). I loved the mentor jumper and his mean remarks. My favorite scenes are of hime and Haydens facial expressions were priceless. It is now my favorite movie of all time and i am in desperate need of a sequel!!! So please don’t *negatize this movie i think it was great!

  25. Just watched Jumper on HBO.

It felt very much like a casualty of the writer’s strike. Interesting premise. Cool special effects. Very weak script. There were entirely too many questions left unanswered to qualify it as a strong origin film.

Honestly, I’d almost like to see a do-over. Like was done with The Incredible Hulk.

Jumper could be a compelling franchise. But it hasn’t yet had the strong start it deserves. Maybe the sequel will be better written. I certainly hope so.

  26. I agree with most of the critiques on this website Jumper needs to definitely have a film written by one person and after the writer’s strike. Haha, I also believe that the sequel should definitely be a redeemer film for Jumper. Too little background info and I think the boy chases girl theme was stupid. Its always a girl who seems to cause trouble in a guys life you get stuck on them then they do nothing but cause problems. So Yes to J2. Redeem yourself please.

  27. Jumper had potention, but it was ruined by too many cooks in the kitchen. We need a good writer or two to give a solid story that takes us further into the Jumper’s history, struggle, lives, etc. and gives them some type of purpose. I know this is an action movie, but give us something to find interesting and worth caring about, besides following a girl and finding mommy. Also, Doug Liman has a history of crazy filmmaking experiences. Either he needs to loosen up and trust the team he is with, or leave. Swingers was a classic, Go was forgetable, Bourne Identity was the shit, Mrand Mrs Smith was pure luck, and Jumper was a jump back in success. Time to get your act together Mr Liman.

  28. I absolutely loved this movie. It isn’t the BEST I’ve ever seen, but still a kick *ss movie. i do believe they need to put a little more thought into the plot. i am waiting (very impatiently I might add) for JUMPER 2

  29. I am one of the few that liked “Jumper”! I thought it was a really good concept…but i agree with the people who are sayin there wasn’t enough to it! No background info on the Jumpers or the Palaidens, or where they or the power came from, or the real reason behind the war between the two kinds! So i hope the sequel will have a little more info on these subjects! Either way, i will see it!

  30. The film is a real mess, the director must have done most of the work in the bathroom, or maybe while he was running to one, everything just happens to quick… and he must have used most of the script to wipe his rear end… liked the concept though … it has potential … they just need to put a little more heart in the sequel … if they announce it to 2011, they have enough time to prepare for the real thing.. I hate to see good ideas go to waste

  31. i think it wa good theis is how it needs to go

14 yeras later they have a kd the kid can jump but parents dont know then hee tells them and dahdah and the rolaen comes bac cuz he follow kids trail he catches them for prisoner cuz he wants the kid the kid finds the irish dude and makes a army of jumpers then they catch them fight and then davy moms puts and end to it and the have a treaty and its over that is how it needs to go

  32. LOVE THIS MOVIE!

I rlly cannot for the sequel. Diane Lane and Kristen Stewart I hope get much bigger roles in the second film. I do not like the idea of time travel/space travel its just to cliche.

  33. I was really impressed by the trailer for this film last year and greatly anticipated it’s release but felt let down by the weak storyline, lack of depth, plot holes and the annoying love story. This film had such potential. Plus Hayden can’t act to save his life, how does he keep landing leading roles…. Jamie Bell was the saving grace of this film and the only character that you could believe in. I would like to see a prequel to Jumper telling Griffins story and how he learnt his power and found out about paladins and decided to fight them, in the scene where Griffin and Rice are inthe car driving through Tokyo Griffin says he “knew a jumper once” would be cool if there was once a team of jumpers who found each other and fought against the Paladins and Griffin is the only one left alive now, hence his unwillingness to help Rice in the original movie….. just my 2penny worth

  34. Hy, my personal opinion is that the movie is the best movie i so in 2 years, but i am disapointed that the ending is so fast and widout a presentation to “JUMPER 2” but i’m waiting with all my heart to se that movie even in 2011. Good job to all ho work at this movie and keep up the good work. Bogdan from Romania!

  35. The best way to see a movie is to have no expectations whatsoever. I had no idea what this movie was about when I rented it, but only from what I saw on the back of the case. I find myself in the category of one who really enjoyed the movie, since it was an old concept done in a very unique fashion. I also agree that there were quite a few things that could have been done differently (not sure there isn’t one yet). My personal opinion, which isn’t worth much, is that it would have been nice to have gotten a bit more background on who David was and why he decided to leave home. The book explains this quite clearly, but I only knew that after I watched the movie. I understood he disliked his dad, but nothing major really took place. I also thought the paladins were a great idea, since they were quite a bit more effective at locating and capturing jumpers, unlike the everyday law enforcement, and government agencies. I thought it was good conflict for the story. So I am looking forward to a sequal that might explain more about the paladins and how their organization is so widlely funded and operated. I thought the actors did a great job, but take my word for what you will. Hopefully Griffen shows up in the sequal, since his character is quite involved, yet we know little about him.

  36. Okay, who here is actually involved with making movies…? i would guess maybe one or two of you. shame on you for crit a movie when you know nothing about film. you dislike it because you had an expectation and the movie didn’t reach it, so instead of saying oh okay i didn’t expect that you bash it saying its a bad movie when in-fact it had all major parts a movie needs to have and it followed a plot (does anyone remember high school english class) yeah plot. I’m a film maker i know how these things work. don’t crit a movie or an actor let me see you make a better one, or act better in one. if anyone takes my challenge let me know. otherwise give FEEDBACK not criticism.

otherwise the movie was good. i would like to know more background information on the jumping side and paliden side.

  37. :D.. stupid..
anyhow… great movie … great story.. great effects.. 9/10.
sequel would be great too.. if.. it had the same idea.. different places .. different people.. different goals.! thats it! i regret not watching it in cinema!

  38. Hey sure there were some faults but i think the overall movie was great. It had a great plot and an ending that leaves you wanting more. And finally they take the super powers idea from an average persons perspective. Wouldn’t your personal needs come first before you decided to save the world? I say do a sequel and if its good go from there. Keep the same cast and dont give Millie powers! You dont see MJ turn in to spidergirl or Lois LAne become Superwoman. Keep it simple. Go Jumper 2!!

  39. I didn’t pay a lot of attention to this movie when the trailers first hit. I’m not a huge fan of Hayden’s acting and Rachel didn’t strike me as a strong actress either.

But with that, I thought this moive was great! Seriously expected a complete flop, but it completely surprised me. Exceptional film, no. Lots of fun, hell ya! Very cool premise, acting wasn’t over the top, and a very simple story.

They could easily do a couple more films with this, careful not to go the way of the Matrix. Loved the first film, got lost and bored for the rest of that ride. To me that trilogy went under and did the first no justice.

They need to keep away from the time travel and focus on David using his power to stop the Paladins/stopping Roland, freeing his Mother from her comprimise as the mother of a jumper and being a Paladin.

Jumper 2 ~ Roland trying to go after Mom and family. David & Family stopping Roland. Yay! KEEP IT SIMPLE.

As a side note I’m a super-hero fan, so to me David should realize his powers can be used to help other’s than himself. They drew you to his character when he was learning about and abusing what he had. Roland has the right to stop them from doing wrong, not to kill them. That should be David’s drive in stopping Roland and changing his character in Jumper 2.

  40. to joe lmao ye ur points were intresting and wud be great to see in the 2nd movie bt HIGHLANDER is a movie if u saw highlander 1st then watchd jumper you get the same idea its nt a person its a movie lol

  41. I just wanted to point out to those who have been badmouthing the movie, which I personally loved, that I think the mistake you are making is to try and think of action movies as art.

They are -not- art, they are multimedia extravaganzas offered for the viewing enjoyment and excitement of the public. In that, this movie succeeded admirably, with almost $300mil worldwide in box office and DVD sales.

As a fan of the genre, who takes it for what it is, I would like to suggest that those seeking “quality artistic offerings” or any other such thing, should watch the Sundance Film Festival and save their $10 for independent endeavors designed for that purpose.

    Just my $.02.

  42. HEY “KIDS”, it’s a movie. Some people like red, some people like blue, but you DON”t GET postal over an opinion of a movie.

I’m 56 and liked the movie. I had to watch it a couple times because of the film leaving you with so many questions; hence, a sequel you idiots.

Dont’ believe all you hear and know that there are many people who will “love” a film while others don’t………..being different is a good thing.
I hope they do make a sequel and address the Mom, Griffin, Roland, the father’s fate, etc.
It’s a move and good entertainment.

  43. @ Joe I totally agree with ur comments.. Mayb Davids mom did kill Griffins parents. & Millie better not get Jumpers abilities, I’d be highly upset!! But u made sum interesting points that would make for a great sequel!! Good shit mane!

  44. Jumper was hella cool it is call a movie for a REASON!
iF i WANT REAL LIFE ALL A HAVE TO DO IS GO TO WORK!
OH WAIT I DO. CANT WAIT TO SEE THE NEXT ONE BATCHZ!

  45. Jumper 2: Jump to War

    Jumper v.s. Jumper

    Jumper: Redemption (Griffin kills Roland)

    Jumper v.s. Alien v.s. Predator

    Jumper: The Alliance

    Jumper 2: Hop to it

  46. Ok. Heres what i think. Im twelve years old. I seriously loved this movie. I think that the whole idea of jumping through time is really stupid. Heres some things I would like to know that they should put in the next movie;

    – How do you get jumper powers? Do you inherit them?(If so, is davids mother [or even father?!?!?] a jumper?!?!?)

    – Will Griffen come back to kill David?

    – Why does griffen has most pictures of roland, and DAVIDS MOM on the wall? (Does she have anything special about her?? [*gasp* maybe she was the one who killed his parents])

    – Whats with the knife that roland uses to kill jumpers?

    – Who is this guy “Highlander” that people talk about???

    – Will Davids mother really try to kill him?

    – How do you become a pallidin?

    – Why does roland hate jumpers? (Did they do something to him?)

    – What about that jumper that roland killed in the forest? (He was in that animation thing on the special features.

    – Whose the other blonde headed guy with the knife? in the animation thing in the special features. [Oh and Whos the pallidin in the lab?])

    – Also, Why do the jumpers try to kill (and, DO kill) David in the animation special feature thing?

    – What happened to Davids dad? Is he alive?

    – Whats all this crap about Millie getting powers? If shes a jumper I will get so pissed…

Well i hope the producer stops changing his mind about the second movie and answers my questions.

  47. a think pepo shud stop bein critics cuz when u tawk to wan a ur pals n say hey a saw jumper its crap dnt c it the person is den nt gunna c it if u have an opinion about the movie just say it just dont tell pepo nt to watch it cuz then pepo copy cat n say it to every1 else

  48. so unfortunate that sam jackson put his name on this trainwreck, he’s the only one in this movie with some talent. granted he’s put his name on some odd stuff in the past but this was almost gigli bad. worst use of downloadable bandwidth ever!

how about jumping into oncomming traffic and dying douche kabab!

  49. I thought the movie was phenomenal best movie i saw in a very long time. Its a super power movie where the first thing the guys does is NOT save the world. Thats great and very real, if you had a super power like that honestly how many of you would say “now i must save the planet from evil”. I would be like ok rob a bank and that sweet car, now lets go to Egypt. Lol i cannot wait for the 2 sequels after this!

  50. (Type your comment here. Make sure you’ve read the commenting rules before doing so)thought it was a great movie. would like to see you do a movie about the jumper origins.and how the fight with the palidens started

  51. I think the first movie was awesome. I think it set up for a second movie perfectly. it gave you enough information to get interested in the movie and ready to see the second one. with everything that went on in the movie there is hundreds of different ways they could set up the second movie. I think it will be a really good movie as long as they do not move to many new things in to the story line they need to finish up the first movie first, or explain it from before Rice boy became a jumper

  52. Alright, So The Movie Wasnt Perfect, But I Liked It. I Know Tons Of People Who Liked It. You People Saying You Hate It Are Looking Too Much Into Details, For God Sakes, IT’S A MOVIE! Just Go Along With It And Dont Be So Harsh Like “It Sucked” Or “It Was The Worst Movie Ever”. Saying You Didnt Like It Is Fine, But Jeez Dont Critisise It To No End! I Liked This Movie Alot, And WILL Be Watching The Sequal.

  53. I like this movie. Yes there was a lot of room in it to play around and explain a bit more. Yes they left it wide open for a sequel not as wide open as some (Eragon anyone?) However, The basic concept behind the movie is good. It is a bit on the whole good vs. evil but then again what isn’t these days. The dialogue may not have been the best but it was far from crappy. Just because people watch dawson’s creek or some oher stupid “Hey look at my large vocabulary” bs, doesn’t make it crappy. As far as the damsel in distress, name me a movie with a superhero where there isn’t one and I will show you a movie that sucked.

I agree that taking the sequel into time travel / space travel would be a hard trick to pull off and make it enjoyable. Working for the CIA would be a little more tolerable but all the still make it feel like a cookie cutter movie.

His girlfriend gaining the ability might be ok if done right. We didn’t see any female jumpers in the first one so who knows. What would betty be like if she gained the hulks ability? That’s one woman’s period I would not want to be around for.

Overall, the movie has a decent flow, good fx’s and a hell of an idea behind it. A sequel, if done right, could be a much bigger hit than the first.

I have not read the books but plan to read the first on since everyone says the movie went on a different set of tracks so to speak.

For those of you who insist on bashing movies just because you think people actually value your opions. First, learn to spell. Second, learn proper grammer. Last but not least, Just because the movie is not Michael Moore certified, don’t be afraid to admit you liked it.

  54. Im surprised i didn’t love the movie(i “liked” it) but i didn’t hate it like most of you people. I wish it was longer or explained some more; another thing that would have made the film better would have been if Griffins’ character was allowed more screen time but (i could see why Doug refrained from that though) he kind of took attention away from the protogonists, and made David seem frail and uninteresting……….

But whatever i would be up for a second granted they put more story in it this time……….

  55. I found the first movie to be entertaining (although I am a sucker for super hero movies). I would be interested in a second movie, as long as they don’t go with these stupid back in time/leave the planet crap. Too cliche and cheesy. Definitely a war scene, possibly a romantic sex scene (who wouldn’t want to see anakin skywalker having sex with that one chick from the OC?), and definitely explain more about the history between the jumpers and paladins.

  56. 2nd movie? After watching Jumper – my thought was a great pilot lead into a television series.

The series would allow further character development, a ‘lingering’ storyline, expanse of the paladins (directly his mother) relationship, introduction of other Jumpers (we already have Griffin [continuing character?])…

So a 2nd movie, rather not see that – but a continuing tv series, now that is another story.

  57. I thought the whole premise behind jumping was that you had to have been to a place before or be able to see it (like the tree on the other side of the park) to jump there? If that’s the case then the only jumping they could do time-wise is into their own past and if they did that they might seriously screw everything up. Luckily Doug Liman seems to be one of those people who continuously change script ideas so hopefully it gets better (Jamie Bell made a comment on one of the extras that he was currently in Jumper 12). If not, I’ll just hope Jamie Bell’s in it as Griffin as both the actor and the character made the film way better then it would have been without them.

  58. i think it was a kwl movie a enjoy things like powers and stuff a mean it wasnt as bad as x-men 3 which was the worst ever a mean who in the right mind kills xavier a mean come on lol a mean ye in a way x-men 3 was gd bt it was like the writters just gave up after 10 mins a writen it lol why am a talkin about x-men 3 when every1 else is talkin about jumper lol definietly bring a jumper 2 it would be nice 2 see it

  59. I loved the concept of the movie, wormholes etc…. the acting was a bit of a let down. Especially between anakin and the girl.

Maybe a TV series spin off would be the way to go….

  60. everyone has there own opnion, and Jumper is awsome there should be a second n third make like a war scene amd try n find more palydins and jumpers.

    Hail Jumper 2

  61. I think a great sequel idea would be for David to seek out other Jumpers, try to get to the origins of the power, to discover where it came from and how he got it!!

Also figure out where his mom fits in, and how she came to be in the position shes in!

And one last thing…we never did find out if his dad died or not! He must have been alive when David found him, why else would he have jumped them to the hosipital yelling for help!

  62. I gotta say I loved the movie it had a hint of Highlander about it. I thought the action and how the jump scenes were edited was awesome. I really enjoyed the movie and cannot wait for a sequel to be made and Hayden has to be the lead for me to follow…

  63. man so happy they make more of it was really hoping for a tv serie of this loved the movie and when i mean loved it i mean it saw it over 20 times by now and i got more than 4000+ movies, but this one is just it

  64. READ THE BOOK….
i began reading the book a year and a half ago but for some reasons i couldnt finish it, when i saw the trailer i was like, i know that book, and i started reading it again after i watched the movie, the movie is very loosely based on the book and it bugs me, its like they took/stole the teleportation idea but taht’s it, his mom is no pali someting i dont know how its written but those jumper catchers lol, anywho, the movie was bad in a way it lost the feeling of the book, they tried tomake it too commercial and teh monologues, dialogues and acting were kinda crappy

  65. jumper is a good movie. all you people who say it’s bad.. all i say is jason bourne 2 and 3, pirates of the carribean 3, speed racer, horton hears who.. these are bad movies. jumper is good and cool. you suckers

  66. jumper is a good movie. all you people who say it’s bad.. all i say is jason bourne 2 and 2, pirates of the carribean 3, speed racer, horton hears who.. these are bad movies. jumper is good and cool. you suckers

  67. Totally agree here paureen and you can’t say the strike was the reason on a bad script the movie was written long before the strike happend it actual was filming back in early 06 the script was done before they went into production..It took almost 18 month for the movie to be made mainly because they stopped and started with new actors to replace good one..seems the people who had SUB parts in the movie like Anna Sophia Robb and Kristen Stewart went on to do leading parts in other movies this year..Again poor judgement on Liman’s part to totally change the script and if they choose another they aren’t following the book anyway so who cares what reflex read (and I read that book 3 times it was a bit boring and stupid) so MILLIE can die off they did it to bourn’s wife they can get rid of Bilson anytime..to me there is no use for her and her damsel in distress role anyway..

  68. Oh F@CKING NO WAY!!! No more Jumper’s! The first one was bad enough! I seen enough of the trailer’s and Rachel Bilson’s acting was atrocious! Either replace Bilson or forget it! No more JUMPER’S! Please spare us! :D

GOD PLEASE NO MORE JUMPERS the first was HORRIBLE I have talked to many people and none have liked it hell not even Gould himself after writing Griffin’s story liked the idea when he uses the work MUTATED VERSION. Please that says plenty..Also add that Bilson who made the Millie’s character horrid she can’t act her way out of paper bag she makes Jessica Simpson look like she is a Harvard Scholar. So PLEASE no more jumpers..

Has no one noticed that his MOM got to the police station ahead of the hit squad, or that Davids half sister also had those stressed looking eyes?
I think that his mom, the Paladin, is secretly a JUMPER too. Maybe the sister too, but being educated by mom to use it only for good. That should be explored in the sequel…

    1. Mary Rice arrived at the police station because she is a Paladin leader and didn’t want her son to be killed. You realize this when the comment about, ” she said two would be enough”, the Paladins in Rome. Just like when she said she was a Paladin and that she was giving David a head start because she loved him. If Mary and Sophie were Jumpers, then why would she have given up David as a child and not have given up Sophie?

  71. I enjoyed Jumper and am interested to see where the sequel is going to go but as many have stated, I hope they steer clear of time travel, working for a government agency or for that matter, Millie getting powers. All of these take away from the intriguing qualities the first film had. And if everyone just starts having the ability to Jump it’s no fun anymore.

If I had a vote I’d build on the “buddy” thing and have the other Jumper start off as a new nemesis of sorts for David but save him in the end of a battle with Sam Jackson.. but then with the character regaining nobility the writers would no doubt kill him off quickly Harry Osbourne Style no doubt killing off Jackson in the process to wrap that up neatly. If they didn’t however they could build on that further and perhaps culminate in a Jumper vs. Jumper showdown with Rice Bowl coming to his Mom’s aid and once again carving a wedge between the other Jumper whose name has escaped me and David. Also the Mother character is a weak spot for David so hopefully Sam Jackson’s character will be written with a brain in the next movie and he will realize this. Of course that’s about 25 mins of a movie so insert some cool locations and expand on the half-sister then maybe have David have to “woo” Millie all over again introducing a new “normal” love interest to rival David as well. You could just write in some sort of back story that leaves their relationship up in the air before the second movie begins. Build on the Mythology… OH and have David save some people, or do something Hero-esque and there we go, a Jumper Sequel with out time travel or espionage or everybody in the primary cast being a jumper.

Also cool points I’d like to see the sequel build on:
    – a significance to the knife Roland uses to kill the jumpers?
    – Why does Roland think all jumpers go bad? Did Anakin steal his purple light saber?
    – The Childhood Bully/Drunk/Jail Bird a future Palladin?
    – Millie’s (hypathetical) new love interest a Palladin?
    – A Jumper trap, a cage that Jumpers can’t jump out of… something else now that the electric charge is proving useless against David.

It would be better if they left the word “Jumper” out of the next film’s title. It always screams to me: “we couldn’t even make a decent attempt with the title, so are you really expecting that much quality-wise?”

I hope that this reads okay and I hope a writer for the movie sees this and takes some of it to heart…

    cheers.

    1. why do all of you pretend to know how to write a script… look David isn’t going to save people, ok? He isn’t a super hero he’s just a normal guy who can teleport and the equal probably won’t come out anyways because hayden is washed up and finished after star dears characterized him. not to mention the extremely bad dialogue. now don’t get me wrong here people, Jumper was one of my favourite movies but I am a realist and it kind of sucked.

  72. je trouve ce film super bien il es trés bien fait ,merveilleux je vous félicite pour ce film qui es extraordinaire jespére qu’il y aura une suite merveilleuse jespére que Milie et David seron marié voila .

  73. Yeah, I enjoyed it as well. Nothing really special, but it was entertaining enough for it’s run length. Nothing I’d ever buy, but I’ll probably watch it again if I ever catch it on TV, and I have no problems at all checking out the sequel when/if it comes out.

  74. I’m kind of surprised by all of the negative comments posted here. I guess you guys had pretty high expectations for this movie. You’d probably have been better off without any, like most people who watched this movie.

Jumper is a decent movie. Certainly worth renting. I’d rent the sequel.

  75. Well what happened to ppl?? why can’t ppl like movies anymore you always complain about everything bla bla this bla bla that.
“Not enough special effect’s” etc .. you prolly understand what i mean.

  76. I think they should totally make another jumper the first one was awesome.I think they did a really good job on it so yeah make another one.

    and make it quick.lol jk

  77. Всем привет , товарищи интернационалисты ))))
А мне фильм понравился , но без второй серии не обойтись )))))

    So , I’m waiting for Jumper 2

  78. The movie was a fine bit of escapism. The director did leave lots of space for an obvious sequel. Roland’s (Samuel L. Jackson)status is unresolved as is Griffin (Jamie Bell), the more mentor jumper. One other huge clue that a sequel is coming is that Kristen Stewart (from Zathura, Panic Room, The Messengers) is way too big of an actor to only get a mere 30 seconds at the end of the film. I hope they do a better job of filling in the plot holes in the sequel.

  79. “just adapt the second book.”

As a fan of the first book, the second book SUCKS horribly. One of the worst books I ever read. Plus, the movie’s mythology makes it really hard to adapt the second book.

  80. “so the reason why Sam Jackson et al wanted the “jumpers” dead was because “only God should have the power to be all places” (or whatever he said). Ok . . . so then shouldn’t only God have the right/power to kill people?”

Welcome to the Witch Trials of old. Religious nuts that would kill anyone they thought of as a witch, all in the name of God.

  81. I didn’t get this movie. Ok, so the reason why Sam Jackson et al wanted the “jumpers” dead was because “only God should have the power to be all places” (or whatever he said). Ok . . . so then shouldn’t only God have the right/power to kill people? I’m just saying . . . . Needless to say, I won’t be going to see the sequel.

    1. ok well its not cuz they have the power its wat they use the power for he said u all turn sometime meaning they do something that makes them have to be killed and i would like to see a jumper 2 movie that would be good i liked the first one

  82. why does he need to come up with a story in the first place?
there were two books by Steven Gould the movie is based on.
just adapt the second book. Then after that if they want a trilogy go from where the second one end or hints to. or ask Steven Gould it his world, i’m sure he could come up with a story.

  83. Jumper 2 – How high? Yeah there’s room for a sequel. I agree with John or was it Doug? – who said that they should concentrate on the battle/mystery/explanation between the Palladins and the Jumpers.

    1. Steven Gould’s 1993 novel is better than the movie & better than the old The Stars My Destination book. More character development & a cool destructive application of teleporting in the Jumper Reflex novel. He jumps quickly betwene 2 points to hold the wormhole open and if one of those points has water (the ocean) it passes through to the other point, flash flooding buildings!

  84. Yeah, I did enjoy it. I didn’t love it, but I enjoyed it. It had mistakes and faults, sure, but I’m able to overlook them and still enjoy myself.

Also, does anyone know why my posts won’t show up, if I have my website put down?

    1. ya i liked it, i liked it a lot,but i agree of some of what you said, it is boring at parts. still a great movie if you ask me and i cant wait for the next

    2. This movie was entertaining and original. Everyone that posts and said that they hated the movie, guess what, you saw the movie. Something interested you enough to see it and by doing so increased the sales. The movie was definitely not made to be a stand alone, I’m sure they will take the time to write the 2nd one carefully to build off the first. They will have some new idea that will catch your attention as well and you will go and see the 2nd in the series.

  85. i love this movie i dont care wat ne1 else says but this movie must be 1 of my favourites ive seen in a long time(2nd cloverfield) i rly wish they will bring out a sequel

  86. Ok, it works now. For some reason it won’t post my comments when I have my Website link put in.

Anyway, as I said I must be one of the few that enjoyed this movie. It entertained me for its run length and temporarily made me forget my troubles, and really, isn’t that what movies are supposed to do?

Although I also knew nothing at all going into the movie. My friend asked if I wanted to see Jumper and I was like ‘What’s that?’ and she was like ‘A movie with Samuel L. Jackson in it. Sci-fiish’ I just shrugged, said ok, and ended up enjoying myself.

      1. Now there just taking the movie onto a different level the movie is called jumpers not time travelers, yes the character needs to grow i get that but if you are talking about going into the past then you leave the door open for the character to grow even more like being able to travel into the future,Then what,he might be able to stop time.

  87. After watching Jumper, one of the first things a friend of mine said was “now that was a movie that was badly affected by the writers strike”.

I couldn’t have agreed more. The film could have been great, or at least more fun if a couple more rewrites were made, and a lot of dialogue polished a little more.

Throughout the film, I couldn’t help but get the impression that a lot of the scenes and dialogue between the characters seemed to be almost improvised. Hopefully, a sequel would allow the concept to be presented in a much more satisfying package. Though personally, I am not a fan of incorporating time travel. Although give me a flashback to medieval times any day.
