Hayden Panettiere Joins Daydream Nation

CheerleaderIt looks like Hayden Panettiere (the barely legal bombshell from Heroes) will be branching out into film with Daydream Nation. We get the skinny from the dudes at comingsoon:

Hayden Panettiere (“Heroes”) is set to star in teenage comedy Daydream Nation, written and to be directed by Michael Goldbach, says Variety. Kieran Culkin is in negotiations to play opposite Panettiere as her oblivious boyfriend. Daydream Nation, budgeted at about $10 million, is scheduled to start production in the second or third quarter of this year.

Well, not much information about the film so I could not begin to tell you what it is about. I know that Hayden is wildly popular amongst fans of Heroes and I think now is the time for her to try and make some moves. From what I hear, the second season was a titanic letdown and with the writer’s strike putting everything on hold – only bad things can happen to the momentum the show had going for it. She is wise to jump ship before the show jumps shark (if it hasn’t already).

Hayden is now 19, ready to rock, and if she wants to crossover into film, this may be her best chance. I am not familiar with her acting, I do not watch the show – but international friends I ask you: Do you think she she has the chops to make it on the big screen and would you like to see her there?

P.S. Daydream Nation is also a very good Sonic Youth album

  1. btw, the sources of movies came from imdb. Course I saw Titans, Bugs, Dinosaur, Ice, Cooper, bring it, racing, tiger, plus some Heroes epis, her two guest appearances in LO SVU, and played both KH 1 & 2 and I think she did a pretty good job. But thats just my opinion.

  2. She’s already done a number of movies before this one, so she already knows about film work. So you really can’t say she branching out in film with this movie. Her first movie was “A Bugs Life” where she played the voice of “Dot.” From there it was a “Message in a bottle,” “Dinosaur”, “Remember the Titans”, and yes she has pulled off the leading role in some movies such as “Tiger Cruise,” “Racing Stripes” “Bring It On: All or Nothing” and “I Love You, Beth Cooper.”

Other movies she was in before “Daydream Nation”: “Ice Princess” “Lies My Mother Told Me” “The Dust Factory” “Raising Helen” “The Architect” “Shanghai Kiss” “Joe Somebody” “The Affair of the Necklace” “Normal” “Mr. Gibb” “Fireflies in the Garden”

Movies coming up not released yet: “Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS. Evil” – Red, “Carmel” “Alpha and Omega” “Daydream Nation” “Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List”

You may like her acting or you may not, but apparently enough casting directors love her acting well enough to cast her in all these movies whether major role or not. She’s also been casted in a number of TV shows. And trust me, thats all that matters and what is making her the money she’s making which none of us are ever gonna hope to make unless we have even a sliver of talent she has and her looks.

  3. She’s played some kiddie roles in rom-com stuff like Raising Helen (I think), but it’s hard to tell if she can pull off a lead role in a film. I’m thinking she should wait a few more years to get some depth in her acting.

  4. She’s an okay supporting actress, but I don’t think she has the skills or the presence of a leading lady. Maybe one day she will, but I think if she wants to have a great movie career, she should start with smaller roles. She won’t be able to carry a whole movie.

  5. doug she is a terrible actress on a terrible show.

    she has two settings

    1. mildly annoying
    2. incredibly annoying.

she could not act her way out of a paper bag.

    shes terrible.

oh and doug i hope you are going to see iron maiden when they hit LA later this month…i know you were disappointed on the matter of life and death tour but this tour is fucking insane…the stage set is based on the powerslave tour and they are only playing songs from the albums up until seventh son …so basically its a tour of their heyday…its going to be fucking awesome…they open with aces high…they play rime of the ancient mariner…

    you must go…..

  6. yea I watch the show and I think she is a great actress. She’s got potential for sure. Can’t wait to see how everything turns out with her on the big screen.

  7. She actually does a really good job on the first season of Heroes (haven’t seen the second). I think she can make it, if she chooses her parts right. I hope she is not playing another cheerleader.
