Lost Boys 2 is a project we’ve been talking about around here at The Movie Blog for a while now. Ever since they first announced the film, it’s been the butt end of a lot of jokes, but there is no denying there is some legitimate interest out there for seeing the movie (due mostly the the popularity of the original) and so even though I don’t think anyone is going to see this thing, there have been some rumblings that Lost Boys 2… which was slated to go direct to DVD… may in fact get a theatrical release.
The folks over at Movieweb give us this:
Corey Feldman is reporting today on his personal website that Warner Brothers has not yet made a definitive decision about whether or not The Lost Boys 2: The Tribe will go theatrical. The film was intended for the direct to DVD market, but the buzz on the film is growing stronger by the day. The people at Warner Brothers are very happy with the finished product. And you might be the one that helps it get a true theatrical release.
Feldman states…
“There is a nasty rumor circulating that a decision to release LB2 straight to DVD has been made…..THAT IS CATEGORICALLY UNTRUE!!! NO decision has been made as of yet. They will be voting on it next month so if you are a LB2 supporter and want to see it on the big screen now is the time to rise up and let the studio know by sending them your thoughts and concerns. There has been a lot of buzz about this and I just don’t want any defeatist or negative attitudes to hamper the positive energy. It is still alive…..”
Personally, I haven’t heard anyone from Warner Bros say they were “very happy with the finished product”, but neither have I heard anything negative either.
Having said that, all other things being equal, I’d say it’s pretty much a guarantee that Lost Boys 2 WILL NEVER see the inside of a movie theater. No way… no how.
HOWEVER…. all things are not equal right now. This stupid Writer’s/Producer’s conflict is turning everything on it’s ear and could creat some kind of movie land bizzaro world where films like Lost Boys 2 may actually and up getting a theatrical run. We’ll see just how desperate the studios are feeling.

I am excited about seeing it in the movies and alot of people i know would like to see it in the movies

I hope it makes it to theatres and so on. I have to say I and some others are really looking foward to this. I dont see why everyone is complaining. They make crazy and boring movies every day and they really suck. Lets give this one a try.
It better make it to theaters. It would be a shame if it didn’t. I mean, Look at the other sequels that make it. We are talking about a CLASSIC ALL TIME AMERICAN FAVORITE, and to dismiss it would only sure to piss alot of people off including me!

The Lost Boys is an amazing movie and Im sure Part 2 will be amazing as well.. Cant wait to see it at the movie theater.
Can’t possibley be any worse than the crap they are giving theatrical releases. I just bought the first one on DVD and still found it fun to watch. If the trailer looks good and it gets decent reviews, I’d see it.
You know, I’d probably watch it out of curiosity. I’m not going to write it off just yet, who knows, we might end up suprised?
I have to agree John. Isn’t it a completely pointless exercise if they do? Who is going to watch it? If the WGA/ Producers fight leads to this then I shall personally slap them both. I read the post title and shook my head. It would be a travesty if this does happen.
It will be a sad state of affairs if this ever makes it to theaters.
