Allison Mack’s Future on Smallville, Writer’s Strike

Today I received an email from a loyal TVShow Blog and Movie Blog reader “Slushie Man” talking about one particular actor who has expressed some concern about the strike. And it isn’t support. Smallville’s Allison Mack speaks about her concerns for her future and how the strike could impact it.

Allison Mack says on her personal blog:

With the Writers’ Strike forging ahead and our last episode coming up the end of January, I’m actually able to see the end of the rope as far as “Smallville” is concerned. If the writers don’t return until after February, the season will end at 15 episodes… And then what?

So far all we see is actors backing the strike, joining their writers on the picket lines. So it is refreshing to see something more personal from an actor in this conflict.

We have already talked about how this Writer’s Strike is torturing the regular joes who have jobs that rely on these shows. The grips, camera operators, caterers, sound crew and more. But wait, those overpaid actors are out of work too. Boo hoo, they have money right? But think about it, they are still losing out.

But what about those actors who actually LOVE their jobs. What about actors who may face early ends simply because they dont have the rest of the season to go forward with.

I love Miss Mack’s personal approach to this. She is actually considering where her future will be once Smallville ends. But does it mean the end of Chloe? If she has to find another job because of a premature end to this season, it might mean she has to leave Smallville.

That also makes me wonder about DC Comics who recently announced they were adding Chloe Sullivan to the comic’s continuum. If her character is gone from Smallville, will they still write her into the comics?

Allison Mack is my favourite part of Smallville, and though she is one ingredient in the recipe, she might just be the chocolate chips in the chocolate chip cookies. The writers strike might be taking my chocolate chips away.

End this strike NOW. Nothing good is coming from it.

  1. Rober… you are getting WAY ahead of yourself. This show is about BEFORE he becomes Superman. That wont happen in the lifetime of this show.

Secondly, none of the actors on Smallville are writers, producers or directors, so what makes you think they would carry on the show with one of them in the job instead of just hiring an actual writer or director?

  2. I also know that Lois and Clark love each other and I want them to finally tell each other they love each other and start kissing one another instead of denying that they love each other. Like I said before if the writers and producers quit I know that Allison Mack and the other actresses and actors are talented enough to write, produce at the same time and still play their roles. I also hope Clark becomes Superman soon also and that Lois can find out Clark’s secret and keep it like Chloe did. I also want Lois and Clark to become very good partners and more than boyfriend and girlfriend and get married eventually. Lois and Clark also make a good team at the Daily Planet also. When Clark becomes Superman Lex could start to want to know who he is later in the season and become his arch enemy again. But I like Clark having new enemies besides Lex himself. If they make a Superman show I would want them to keep all the same actors and actresses from Smallville to that show if they make. Like Erica Durance,Tom Welling Allison Mack and all the other actors and actresses if they make a new Superman show if they do have Tom Welling as Superman Erica Durance as Lois and Allison Mack and all the other actresses and actors.

  3. I like the new romance with Chloe and Jimmy Olsen. I was very excited and happy about Lois and Clark at Chloe and Jimmy’s wedding when they got very romantically attached to each other as more than friends. I am happy they almost kissed each other before Lana got there. I know that if the writers and producers if they quit I know that Allison Mack and the other actors and actresses are talented enough to write produce the show Smallville to continue more seasons. The 8th season of Smallville is more than excellent this year. I want Lois and Clark to become more than friends and more than boyfriend and girlfriend and eventually get married. I also hope Clark can ask his Father Jor-el if he can have children without hurting a female human like Lois Lane so isn’t so afraid of hurting a woman. Ask the writers and producers also to have Clark fly and that he finally gets emotionally and romantically involved with Lois Lane like it is suppose to. I want them to get married like in Lois and Clark the New Adventures of superman which I believe they should get married they make a better couple than Lana and Clark.

  4. You’re all crazy to say that Chloe of all the characters should be killed or written off….she’s one of the best (if not the best) characters in the show. Allison is a great actress and i think she is smoking hot so if you have insults like that to say then you should just keep em to yourself cause they aren’t true.

Allison will go far in whatever she sets her mind on; she has already proved that in her acting career and she has lots of other talents.

    ‘You rock Allison’

  5. I hate Chloe!!!!! She should be written off the show….. in the episode where John Glover Died, I think it should have been Chloe… Allison Mack is not hot like the other women (Lana and Lois) and her BLONDE meddling does not get her anywhere with Clark as the writers consistently put it because the other ladies are more fit for him. I wish it was her that fell off the luthercorp building instead!

Take it from a retired ole man who never misses Smallville. Cloe is the warmest and most loving one of the young ladies on Smallville. She consoles Clark and Lois in situations when they arrise. She is a staple in the show and any old man could be proud to have her around as a young daughter. She is beautiful and a great actress. Keep it up Chloe, you are great!

  7. They need to resolve the damn strike already. Either agree to an interim deal while both parties negotiate in good faith, or just sit down and hammer it out over a couple days.

How hard can it be for both sides to realize that they need each other, and all the strike is doing is pissing off their consumers. Movies and TV are already losing HUGE shares of people Video Games and alternate forms of media, do the writers and producers really want to exacerbate the situation by allowing people to become irritated with their favorite television shows when they all go on early hiatus without a true season ending?

  8. I hate Chloe! She’s just so damn annoying with her stupid remarks to Clark that she makes when there is no time to chit-chat. :( And Chloe is so damn ugly!! Yuck!!!!!! Kill her already!!!

  9. I fully support the writers stike – without the writers nothing can be made. What they are asking for is not unreasonable and they deserve it.

So… Studios put your hands up, give the writers what they want – they deserve it!

    and that’s my 2p :)

  10. You’re not very smart. She is not just talking about herself. She is talking about Smallville as a whole. They’re not just taking Chloe out. And by the way the writers should are right in this strike. Yeah it stinks that so many people have to take the hit too, but that is because the greedy studios won’t give a little.

  11. i’m sorry but what the writers are asking for is hardly unfair

they want 8 cents per $19 dvd instead of the 4 cents they are getting now and they want digital dowloads to start paying residuals which will be at around a similar level.

they don’t even want it to start paying immediately but they want something put in place that makes sure when it does take over which lets face it it is the future they want to make sure they get their fair due share.

the last time they got fucked over in contracts was when ther studios weren’t sure about whther or not this “home video” thing was going to be profitable. the writers want top make sure they don’t get fucked over. again.

  12. “Allison Mack is my favourite part of Smallville, and though she is one ingredient in the recipe, she might just be the chocolate chips in the chocolate chip cookies. The writers strike might be taking my chocolate chips away.”

That has to be one of the most clever analogies I have seen in a while.

Also yes please End this strike!
