Matthew Perry To Star in ’17’

Matthew-Perry-17Matthew Perry is going back to his comedic roots…but now as a seventeen year old. ‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry has just signed on to star alongside Leslie Mann and Zac Efron in the upcoming teen comedy, ’17.’

Yahoo!News gives us these details:

Matthew Perry will play a grown-up version of Zac Efron in the teen comedy “17.” In a scenario that turns the concept of “Big” on its head, the Jason Filardi-penned script follows a middle-aged father who wakes up to find he’s 17 again. In order to be close to his children, he enrolls in their school.

Wow, it’s not like we haven’t seen this concept done a gazillion times before! Movies like this are the reason why there are so many remakes and sequels being made, because there are hardly any original ideas left in Hollywood.
I’m sad to see Matthew Perry subject himself to this. This year he proved that he can do both dramas and comedies when he starred in the very short-lived (under-appreciated if you ask me) television show, ‘Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.’
I will avoid this movie like I avoided ‘Serving Sara’ and ‘Almost Heroes’ while hoping Mr. Perry in the future get projects like ‘A Whole Nine Yards’ again.

What are your guys’ thoughts?

  1. In this week’s issue of Grazia luxury brand Louis Vuitton exclusively reveal their glamorous spring/summer’12 Louis vuitton Sunglasses range by showing them on a new generation of ‘It’ girls and boys. 2. I agree with you on the Studio 60 decision, but I didn’t really think A Whole Nine Yards was that great a role for Chandler! LOL

He needs a role that pushes his creativity and comedic timing, but a ho-hum comedy won’t do it. Only problem is, I don’t see Hollywood doing too many good movies lately…Well, at least original ones.
