Soundwave

You might get tired of hearing about Transformers, but you have to admit, this (and rumour has it Ratatouille) are so far the biggest movies of the summer. With a lot of giant titles, we were expecting more this summer.

But what was Transformers missing? According to John, not much. Some people say it should have had more characters from the original series. Characters like Soundwave.

With the exception of the bad rendition of “The Touch” (shuddap – the original is inspiring) this clip is pretty damned funny!

  1. Nevadasmith, I have to respectfully disagree on nearly EVERY point you tried to make.

The post was a comical fan video I found of Soundwave, not a soapbox on which you can preach how little you cared for the movie.

You are free to like a movie, just as much as you are free not to. But your assumptions that there are no redeeming parts to this movie are just your opinion. Which you have a right to.

Lets just keep the comments about the post. No one said the biggest movie would be the best. Its just a coincidence that some people actually like this movie.

  2. Biggest movie of the summer inevitable doesn’t mean best. I know there were people on here who were waiting for this movie like it was their first time getting laid and they had gone over it in their minds for months. Sacrilege-I thought the movie basically on many levels sucked. Sure the first dozen times you see transformation it’s pretty cool. Those little jar jar binks decepticons-lame. The whole John Turturro character and Sector 7 stuff-been done before with way better actor and ideas- ooooh an object hit the earth and we got our technology from the captured pieces? That’s the premise of at least 20 movies. Hard to believe Angelina Jolie ever cam from Jon Voigt’s loins who looks like shit and has really fallen a long long way since joe buck. The autobots and the attempt to urbanize them etc – embarassing-the whole “bad tv announcer voice of God” thing going on with Optimus Prime was just laughable. High points s Shia’s performance (and his girlfriend too-but I think that was mainly because she was fun to look at). He brings class to all his movies at this point. Along with Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale they just might be the future of acting (of course not on the strength of this fairy tale). Sure it will make a shitload of money (when has that ever had anything to do with quality) Damn Michael Bay is so ADD that there’re times when there’s so much going on screen that you just can’t take it all in. It’s too much-and not too much of a good thing at that. I’m sorry for all of you who waited so long and have so much invested in this that you’re just reaching for mooments you can build on-but in the dark of night-alone in your room-before you fall asleep-you know it sucked at heart. Even my 9 year old who was counting down the days turned and said “The Die Hard”: movie was better-and it was-tons.

  3. Ian, that is just it. You just dont get it.

Replace “machines, changing into cars” with “teenager bit by radio active spider” or “pirates in the south seas” or “guy who likes a girl who is out of his class” or “guy from bad part of town learns to dance” or well any generic description of a movie concept and you can use the same pointless rant to try and discredit someone’s interest in a movie.

You don’t get it. You don’t have to. And Michael Bay is perfect for this type of movie and is exactly what they wanted. And he did his job.

We TF fans get it. We liked it. Get over it.

  4. Too funny. Some great work, and the voiceover is amazing. The singing killed my ears, but still funny to hear the lameness. Wonder what happened to Soundwaves’ legs/feet during the workout routine. Must’ve been too heavy. LOL

  5. The Workout seen was hilarious… I think I could see a couple of people in the back staring at him from a park bench.

I’m hyped up for the movie- Can’t wait to see it.

  6. “Ravage get off the couch”
    Haha love that bit

    @ To Ian
The movie yes, is based on a cartoon, but many of the people excited about this film grew up watching that very cartoon, and finnally all these years later seeing it on the big screen is something that can create a very good sense of nostalgia. On top of that, you sound like you expected something complex from a movie about robots turning into cars and fighting eachother. No one wants to see a Transformers movie that is about talking and how people feel, people want to see a movie about giant motherfucking robots bashing one another over the heads with street lights and cars.

    And also *Minor Spoilers*
Any childrens flm that gets a body count of roughly 200-400 people let alone hard ass marines armed to the teeth and blows up an entire military base full of tanks and planes in less than ten minutes into the film is ok in my book any day.

  7. I’m seeing Transformers for the first time this Friday and I can’t wait. The thing that some people might be thinking (the younger crowed) is that the new cartoons are really “kid friendly” and childish and this is what they think transfromers is supposed to be like. Well for all us who are in their mid to late 20 or a little older grew up watch the originals and man did they kick ass. This movie is meant for those people, the people who grew up watching it and have seen the cartoon movie where Bumble Bee swears (couldn’t believe it when I heard it, too funny). With that said, there is a good chance the plot might not be great, and the acting not to par with Crash or American Beauty but I want to see it to feel like I did when I watched it EVERY Saturday.

  8. I can’t for the life of me see what you guys, apparently see, in the movie Transformers. It’s a movie for kids and i mean kids. The plot is dumb, when the Transformers talk, they sound stupid. The special effects are great, no doubt about it, but shit. Why, you guys creaming your shorts about this movie. Michael, has directed three lemons in his last three flicks, doesn’t that make you think, ummmm, may be I should re-think this guy? No? Oh, well, Transformers will do well for the book-office, for the brain stimulation, no.
Sorry, guys, i just couldn’t see what the big deal was about, machines, changing into cars or vice-versa and fighting what, other machines and the average Joe Blow, has no idea this is happening, even the “hero” of the movie, finds out half way through the flick, when he follows his car.

  9. Very good, very good. Though this raises a few questions within my prespective:

    1. If people wanted Soudwave in the first one then why make us wait till the second one which may not come out for the next 4 years. ( From what i’ve heard they may not start production until 2009 or 2011)

    2. And if the peopole want Soundwave so badly then why not give him his own film?

Now i’m NOT saying they should do s solo main character/Spin-off TRANSFORMERS film. Though it’s kind of the impression I get

  10. That was very funny indeed. The bad rendition of “The Touch” came from the movie “Boogie Nights” It was during the scene when everybodys favorite out of work porno star Dirk Diggler tried his hand (pun intended) at recording an album. That’s actually Mark Wahlburg on the track singing.
