  1. Actually you DON’T have to choose between Blu-Ray and HDDVD because LG has created a dual format player, and I’m sure more from other companies will follow suit. Yes, it’s expensive @ basically $1,200 but every piece of tech, especially the home A/V variety is exorbitant when it first debuts. Anyhoo, I don’t know that a “format war” is as realistic and relevant in this day and age. A lot has changed since the days of Betamax.

  2. John, I love you man but you are out of your mind about Evan Almighty. Almost everytime I’ve been in a theatre and that trailer has come on you can hear the audience gaining weight because of the popcorn.

I’m calling in on Friday to get your thoughts and ask you to eat your words live.

  3. @Xwolverine2

THANK YOU for that link. I didn’t know Cullen did THAT many voices. Man, I’ve heard him in a lot of stuff and didn’t even know it.

  4. hey guys, good show!

saw the FF2 movie. about more of the same. the surfer was well realized but under used. they sure as heck didn’t need doom in there. disappointing.

i am on the edge of my seat waiting to see the transformers movie!! it’ll rock!

btw, megan fox is hot but more than that, she’s a dead ringer for linda carter, so she’d make a great wonder woman. let’s hope she can act!

as far as westerns…haha, they’ve even gone gay and there’s still great stories to tell. even that pierce brosnan/liam neeson thing wasn’t that bad. the guy pierce aussy oater was better tho.

looking forward to next week, cheers!

  5. Had that same problem with iTunes as well. (note: 8 minutes of Doug’s tissue discussion went on too long…) Just got the mp3 the old fashioned way…

    Oh oh.
Gio, did I…hear you right? Did you say the FX in FF2 were bad? I could have sworn in your post last Friday that you said the opposite, and it was one of the few things you liked. Clarify?

And I did like the film better than all of you. There was a plot point where Surfer affected Johnny’s power, so maybe that’s why there were few fights with the Surfer? (did NOT excuse Doctor Doom-however) I actually didn’t have a problem with the Ferris Wheel. I guess this is going to be a highly debated film among the masses.

But…since Tim Story is moving on…if..*if*..there is a third film, should he be back in he director’s chair?

    Nice to hear Bruxy again.

  6. And the more I think about it, the more I conclude that Evan Almighty will be the BIGGEST bomb of the year. Not just the summer, the whole damn year. This thing not only looks horribly unfunny, but it has to make at least 200 million JUST TO BREAK EVEN. That’s just the budget. I didn’t factor in marketing yet. Plus, it would have a chance to make up the money overseas if they had a bigger name than Steve Carrell. He’s on the A-list in the States, but overseas, nobody knows who the fuck he is. Man, this thing is gonna bomb…………

  7. On the line of cliches I have always been amazed at the short term memory of heroes in movies. I think a typical movie scene would go like this in real life.

Bad Guy: Leave $10,000,000 in a teal duffle bag in room 425 5612 15th street. You have 5 minutes.

Hero: Um….just s second…can you repeat that I have to get a pen.

  8. “Meet me at the edge of the windy cliff”

I’m still in tears from that one. Darren is a much funnier guy than i think we give him credit for. And no John, i think after Friday’s show, i’m gonna drop the whole impressions thing for both our sakes. You’ve nothing to worry about anymore:)

  9. Hmm, the last few times this has come in on iTunes subscription it has only downloaded a few minutes worth. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

  10. I’m pretty sure the Bubba Ho-Tep sequel was to be a prequel, ie. Bruce touring as fake Elvis in the old days, and not a follow-up/aftermath to the original. Which works great in that you don’t have to worry about his death, implied or not. But I concur, if it’s not Bruce, it’s not Bubba.

And on my list of cliches and one that runs parallel to “shot in the shoulder” is when any character falls a couple of stories, and then gets up. Struggling or not, you don’t get up after falling that far. In my mind, Die Hard 3 was the worst for that…

  11. Great show guys! Nice to hear the whole crew again. Lucky bastards getting to see Transformers early!

Don’t sweat watching Sicko John. I don’t think anyone would have resisted it if it were put right into your hands. I applaud you for making the decision to see it in theaters regardless and pay for your ticket.

Oh man, Transformers is still so far away.

  12. Have you guys seen the trailer for American Gangster yet? You’d think Campea would have a post about it since it has “The greatest actor alive” to him, Russell Crowe, in it. THAT trailer looks great to me.
