Pyro Talks X-Men 3

Aaron Stanford as PyroOne of the story lines I really enjoyed in the second X-Men film was the relationship and dynamic with Pyro and Ice Man. I thought the Pyro character was really underrated by most people and I thought had a lot of possibilites.

The good folks over at FIlm Force had the chance to chat with Aaron Stanford (Pyro) about the new X-Men flick and Pyro’s role in it. Here’s some of what he had to say:

“Yeah, he changes,” admits Stanford. “In X2, he’s very sort of ambivalent about where his allegiances lie – he’s not sure where he’s gonna go. He’s obviously part of the school for gifted children. But he’s also very attracted to this other side, this brotherhood he’s been hearing about, Magneto’s brotherhood. And he’s got friends with Professor X, but on the other hand, he’s really called by Magneto and he tells him that he’s a God amongst insects. That’s a pretty attractive idea [or] concept. In X3, he’s totally surrendered to that. He’s off the fence and he’s with the brotherhood, dedicated and committed. Because of that, he’s off the leash and he’s just allowed to really let his powers rip and not hold back at all. It’s gonna be good.”

Good to hear! He also goes on to say that the film has some enphasis on the relationship between him and Ice Man which I think is a GOOD thing. Aaron Stanford is also appearing in the new “The Hills Have Eyes” film that’s opening soon. He’s a busy guy all of a sudden.

It’s a good interview and you can take a look at the whole thing here if you’d like

  1. I’m glad Pyro will have more to do in this movie. I think he has a lot of potential too. I don’t really think there are that many other characters better than pyro. I know there are some, but I think pyro will be good.

  2. Awesome. Lets hope this can be the start of a chain of one-dimensional boring characters eating up even more precious screen time while leaving unique and compelling characters to cameo’s and one liners.

Hopefully X4 dedicates some time to the emotional adventures leech or artie. Or maybe gives us a peek into the world of food addiction with a day in the life of the blob.

Sorry, but “fire” is such a played out special effect in movies and pyro is probably as cliche a character as you can get. Considering the potential in over 100 other characters out there then its a shame they waste any time over 4th tier villian that only has one fan.

    BAH!
