No Ant-Man until after Avengers 2

Edgar Wright’s labor of love that we refer to as Ant-Man had been stuck in development hell for a  long time. Seemed like an eternity as the director has actually started working on other projects but Marvel put the spotlight on them earlier this year when they announced that Ant-Man was going to graduate from internet rumor into  a real theatrical release. Well now we’re learning that the movie has been given a release window of  November 2015.

The studio has set a November 6, 2015 release date for the film, which Wright will direct as his follow-up to The World’s End, the comedy he’s currently shooting with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. As Wright said in theComic Con presentation, he and Joe Cornish were still working on the script at the time, but the production of The World’s End ought to give them plenty of time to shape up the script on the side and finish it up to meet that release date there years from now.

If you want to keep your Marvel calendar up to date, that puts Ant-Mancoming after everything we know is in development at the studio, includingIron Man 3 (May 3, 2013), Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013),Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014), Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014) and The Avengers 2 (May 1, 2015).

Ok, enough with the fluff. I’ve been sitting here rooting for this guy to get a film for a while because I just like the idea of comic books having mass pop culture appeal and demolishing box offices but this might be the one character that even has me scratching my head. Ant-Man can shrink really small or grow really large. Sure I can see some fun scenarios with that but for the life of me I don’t understand why ANYONE thinks Henry Pym is interesting in the slightest. He’s a guy with domestic issues, which helps make him somewhat normal but I don’t see him as “likeable”. Adding in Edgar Wright into the mix adds some potential for light-hearted comedy to help make him entertaining but I don’t even like this jerk in the comics. Seriously  we’re getting this instead of a Hulk movie?
