Tanit Phoenix could be Wonder Woman?

Warner Brothers has been considering Wonder Woman, but not as a feature film but as an ongoing television series. And it seems that David E Kelly – famous for the success of Ally McBeal is behind it.

But who will be behind the star spangled corset? Well rumour says that Tanit Phoenix is at the top of the consideration list.

Live for Films reports:

There has been no futher news on the show, but now a rumour is out that South African model / actress, Tanit Phoenix (Lost Boys: The Thirst, Lord of War) is one of the actresses under consideration.

Tanit is quite striking, and from little I have been exposed to she isn’t terrible.

She is physically capable and fit, so I could see her in the role. I would be interested to see where they might go with the character in an ongoing series.

Of course I would rather see it as a film.

  1. I’m South African, and have never heard of Tanit. When I did a little further research I was seriously disappointed they were considering her, as I work in the film industry and lecture as a renowned film school. Although it doesn’t take any experience to understand she is just a great model, which South Africa has a vast amount of. She has done no local work, and her “roles” in her credits are very much entry level and by all means beginner. Cast an actress, not a model!

    1. Local work? So because she’s South African she has to do something in South Africa to be considered valid? Even you admit that SA is flooded with models, so are you surprised you hadn’t heard of her? All of her work is American Hollywood and American TV related credits.

Your “renown” film school is the ONLY film school in South Africa, and without Google I wouldn’t have known that either. Should I discard your touted credentials because I haven’t heard of your school?

Charlize Theron had only 4 minor credits to her name before she landed a lead supporting role in a film. She’s was a South African fashion model and dancer. Should we have denied her the right to evolve in her art and profession?

And you are telling me in your vast film industry related experience you have never met someone who has had only a small sampling of work couldn’t possibly show any potential in an audition?

South African Neill Blomkamp was going to be given a massive property to direct because Peter Jackson believed in his potential.

Many TV actors are discovered because of a great audition and a little experience. Tanit appears to have shown at least something to even get her considered.

  2. well she definitely looks like wonder woman. she’s tall, she’s gorgeous and she looks a little exotic and amazonian. if she can act, she would be perfect.

  3. Gorgeous . With acting chops , she might pull it off. But I think this proposed Wonder Woman tv show will feature Diana Prince in her new costume (jacket and cycling pants) , not the star spangled swimsuit that fanboys are over drooling on.

  4. Still leaning towards Kate Beckinsale on this (for a feature film..), but after seeing Taylor Cole’s pics in the latest Maxim, Hmmmmm….that would be OK too….

  5. Considering the fact that in South Africa there are not alot of roles going around for actresses, also consider the fact that when american filsm are being filmed down there, they never cast leads from South Africa, except for Tanit Phoenix. the very first South African to be booked as a leading actress in an American film all the way IN South Africa. Death Race 2 had a few Amnerican girls lined up, but the director was hell bent on using Tanit, why? she is that talented!!! everyone has to start somewhere yes, Jessica biel was no an A-list actor up until a few years ago. Jessica Alba started out in shitty roles too. Tanit Phoenix is determined, this I have seen, she will blow everyone out of the water. Booking a leading role in an HBO show being in LA for 7 days, that is unheard of!!!

  6. Tanit Phoenix is a very talented young actress, and a great actress. everyone starts somewhere. she was a model when she was 13-20? and has been taking on acting roles ever since. all beautiful actresses we know today started out as models, milla jovavich, cherlize theron, Kim Basinger, Jessica biel etc etc.. Tanit Phoenix is 5’9, sexy as hell and completely capable of making it as wonder woman!

  7. She is definitely not just a model. A model is someone who only relies on their looks to get them through their work. You will see extremely few actresses who are as passionate or as willing to put in the same amount of ground work to prepare for any role like she does. You go Girl!

  8. I think that a film could be a much better idea, more budget and a stronger script, but they need a replacement for “Smallville”, and a “Wonder Woman” series could take that path easily, even if they called “Temiscira”(well, maybe not), but one thing is certain, this girl is gorgeous and tall enough to be a credible Amazonian.

I just hope that this remake can be better than “The Bionic Woman”.
