Cameron Diaz In Talks For Green Hornet

I have not been thrilled with the Green Hornet news at all. Not in the least. I really like Seth Rogen, but him as The Green Hornet is a HORRIBLE miscast of the highest level. I’m also not really sure about why they’re making a Green Hornet movie in the first place. So a rich millionaire without any superpowers decided to fight crimes using his high tech devices and the assistance of a loyal sidekick. Sound like anyone we already know? (Granted… I said the EXACT same thing about Iron Man when they first announced they were making that and I ended up LOVING Iron Man… so take that with a grain of salt).

Now there’s even worse news… it appears that Cameron Diaz is lined up to be in the film as well. Entertainment Weekly gives us this:

Cameron Diaz is considering an offer to play the female lead in Green Hornet, opposite Seth Rogen. A deal hasn’t been sealed yet, but sources tell EW that she is in early talks for the role. Her reps at CAA declined comment. Michel Gondry is set to direct the film based on a script by Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg. Shooting is supposed to begin shortly, with a release date already set for July 9, 2010.

I was deeply in love with Diaz for years after seeing her burn up the screen in “The Mask” with Jim Carrey… I liked her in “My Best Friends Wedding” and I even thought she was ok in “There’s Something About Mary”… but outside those titles she’s never lived up to the potential she had (just my opinion mind you).

So what do you think? Would you be happy or sad to see Diaz in Green Hornet?

  1. No…I am not an imature child….and can percieve talent and comedy. He has neither. If your an adult, he is just worthless. If your 14 and under, I guess you would have to laugh and the re-run attempts at humor. Yea your right….”Observe and Report” was pure genius! Good job 86, you proved my point! And I must be one of the 12 on line you speak of who cares about the Hornet. Your insane if you actually think that is true. Check the dempographics next time before you spout nonsense.

  2. If Cameron Diaz looked like she did in The Mask THEN I’d be excited. buuuut she aint to hot these days and in person….damn…but whatever. I think she can be kinda funny and stuff and I’m pretty damn positive that this movie is gonna be funny. I dont care what Rogen said. Its gonna be funny.

  3. As long as the inept, un-funny and talentless Seth Rogen has anything to do with the sacred “Green Hornet”……..it is dead to me! Ms. Diaz should not lower herself to this level.

    1. hahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! GOD you’re a moron. Seth Rogen is one of the BEST things to happen to comedy in recent years. Damn, talk about being aLONE on your lil “opinion.” hahahahahaha so sad.

  4. I think it’s ok. I like Diaz it a lot of movies. Yes Seth Rogen may not be the best choice, but with the great Stephan Chow as Kato I can sleep a little easier. Also Michel Gondry, director of a Spotless Mind, is directing so we might get something we don’t expect

  5. I agree 107%

The mere casting of Rogen and Diaz drops the Green Hornet from blockbuster to rental.

I rewound the part in ‘the mask’ where Diaz walks in from the rain into the bank so many times I had to get a new copy. Holy crap. She has steadily become less interesting since.

    1. Yea after The Mask the dumb bitch decided she should lose a bunch of beautiful curvaceous weight and start working out….uuuh can anybody say…”OOPS!”?

  6. Cameron Diaz, in my opinion, is an alright actress. I really like several roles that she has chosen, and she has done a really fine job at them (with the exception of the aforementioned Charlie’s Angels & or course What Happens in Vegas). I also have to say that she WAS really hot in the Mask, but there is something about her that I just don’t like. I can’t really put my finger on it, I don’t know if it is her nasaly voice or ditsy, spaced-out appearance on talk shows. I’m not trying to be rude, but for some reason, I just can’t really stand her.

  7. I really agree with John on this. Diaz, circa Mask, incredibly hot and likeable. I don’t know what it is about her but now I just don’t care. Also, dead-on re:Rogen as Hornet. DO NOT NEED!

  8. Diaz never looked better than her role in The Mask. STUNNING.
As for The Green Hornet-This is Rogen giving the middle finger to movie fans. He knows he’s miscast but could care less. The film will be marketed to the masses and make money. Thats his only concern.

    1. I dont think money is his only concern. I think the guy’s a big ass NERD and what nerd wouldnt wanna play a super hero? shit, what PERSON wouldnt wanna play a super hero?? He knows that with his star power, he can do any goddamn thing he wants to do and god dammit, he’s gonna be a fuckin super hero! Now what super hero can he play? “hmmmmm THE GREEN HORNET!! Nobody gives two shits or knows ANYTHING about The Green Hornet except those 12 guys online and fuck them! LETS DO THIS” -from the mind of Seth Rogen.

Dude, nobody’s complaining but you guys. Except I dont think Diaz is a good choice at all. She’s too fuckin old but who knows, maybe she’s just some character in the film or something.

  9. First of all, I highly disagree with your summing up Cameron Diaz. The only downside in my view were the Charlie’s Angels films. I liked or loved her in not only the titles you mention but also:

    *Feeling Minnesota
    *Being John Malkovich
    *A Life Less Ordinary
    *Gangs Of New York

and the recent My Sister’s Keeper
I’m also looking forward to “The Box” as well.

I also think, in regards to “Hornet”, that, being directed by Gondry is a huge step in the right direction. In fact, I don’t think it will be a modern take on the Hornet at all, but be something of a period piece, be it set in the 50’s or the 60’s.

I have my fingers crossed on this, regardless if Diaz joins or not. It’ll be neat if she did. I may not have been a Angels fan, but with those two films and Mask, she’s been in the ballpark before, so she’ll adjust rather smoothly.
