Twilight fans may recall not too long ago that Dakota Fanning was offered a role in New Moon well now thanks to ComingSoon.net we now have confirmation that Miss Fanning is taking the job!
In January, Dakota Fanning said she was in talks to play Jane in the Summit Entertainment sequel The Twilight Saga’s New Moon. The 15-year-old actress is set to star as a sinister vampire with an angelic exterior who works for the Volturi.
Now just from what I am reading online about the role, Jane is a viscious little wretch, so this will be a different sort of role we typically see the adorable Fanning in. However I couldn’t help but notice that Fanning is not eight years old anymore, so its about time this talented young actress tries something more challenging.
Also, I noticed that she is only a minor role in New Moon, not appearing til closer to the end of the novel, and is also not heavily involved in the following book either. So this role may simply be a small part for Dakota who has been playing front line roles pretty much since she hit the scene.
Her character Jane also has a twin brother, so I wonder who they will cast in that place if at all.

I think Dakota Fanning should not be in control of twilight obiviously she is a spoiled girl who tells acters how to act.
I hope soon she will be put in her place and reminded the world does not revolve around a 15 year old girl.
I will not watch the movie if Robert doese not star as Edward or if dekota takes the place of Bella.
I’m looking forward to seeing “New Moon” as it should be with Kristen, Robert and Taylor as the Stars and Heros of “Twilight”!
Who says her involvement means she will be “in control” of Twilight. She’s not being called on to direct.
From what I have been reading off of the Web sites and magazines it states actors are threatening to walk off the set due to Dakota Fanning’s spoildness, and the director catering to Dakota’s commands.

I think she’s way too young, is Jane suppose to be like Bella’s age or even a little older, Dakota isn’t even like 15 yet. But idk maybe she’ll suprise me
I will agree that Dakota has made many empressive movies, and she has acted well in each one. But… I also agree she is too young for this role. I also would like for these roles to be given to actors who have not been in many movies. These roles should be given to actors who are not well known and to be given their chance at stardom. Dakota had hers several times. Now it is someone elses turn.

I checked all the movie sources I read daily and none of them have any news outside of her casting announcement. If there was some big thing going on that would risk shutting down the whole movie I am sure someone would have wrote about it by now.

I don’t find anything “hot” about her at all. She is a kid. I dont find anything hot about kids.
She is a beautiful young lady, but nothing “hot” about her to me at all.
On the question of age it really all depends on the culture and legal age of concent.
I would say there are girls that are 15-16 years old that will turn my head and I think to myself. That is one good looking girl.
It’s not allways about sex saying somone is attractive.

I live in scandinavia where the legal age of concent is 15 years old. (14 years in iceland if the the partner is younger than 18)
Thanks for the post. I look forward to hearing anything more you have on the New Moon movie. I’m a big fan of the books and hope that they can pull everything off and make it a success. I read about Jane and really hope Dakota can do a great job. I haven’t seen her play a bad person yet other than her being a weird kid in that movie with DeNiro.
Rodney is lying. There isn’t this switch in the brain that tells you “no she isn’t hot because she might be underage”. What happens is you think an underage girls is hot but you don’t express it in any form since you know it is wrong. There is no difference between a 16 year old and an 18 year old other than age.
No, I am not lying. I don’t find anything particularily sexually attractive about a 15 year old girl. She might try to dress like Britney Spears but it still wont help.

That is true. No matter what she looks like there is no girl at 12 that could turn my head.
At least at 15/16 she is within striking distance of legal and is shaping up into one beautiful little girl. But my mind cannot shape any opinion about her otherwise until she is at least close to being legal.

No big surprise, but I am glad the deal was made.
When I was reading the 2nd novel around the time the first rumor came out, as they described the character in the book I thought she would probably be a good fit.
Although her role is small in this movie, she does show up in the later books as well.
It will be interesting to see how she can pull it off, but I think she can.
