I became a fan of Jason Statham the moment I saw “Snatch”, and it’s been gratifying seeing his career move from minor supporting actor, to that of legitimate leading action man. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy too. Anyway, one of his new films coming out is called “The Bank Job” and the good folks over at Cinimatical are the first ones to get their hands on the poster.
The synopsis for The Bank Job looks like this: “In September 1971, thieves tunneled into the vault of a bank in London’s Baker Street and looted safe deposit boxes of cash and jewelry worth millions and millions of pounds. None of it was recovered. Nobody was ever arrested. The robbery made headlines for a few days and then suddenly disappeared – the result of a UK Government ‘D’ Notice, gagging the press. This film reveals what was hidden in those boxes, involving murder, corruption and a sex scandal with links to the Royal Family – a story in which the thieves were the most innocent people involved.”

I think Marc is correct…..the bank employee who opened the safety deposit box room sure did look like Mick Jagger with a wig.
was Mick Jagger in a cameo role as the first bank employee who discovered the robbery?
And you know the DVD cover will feature floating heads, a car exploding with people shooting at each other.

Very cool that the poster looks like it came out in ’71. Other ‘period’ movies should do the same. For example Indy 4 should look like some B film from the 50’s…on the other hand, the poster for ‘The Passion of the Christ’ would have been on a scroll written in Aramaic.

Marketing departments need to start putting more effort into their posters. These days, they just slap anything on the poster and call it a day. Floating heads and fancy fonts don’t have shit on a simple image like this poster.

Love the old-school style of the poster! Very nice.
You know, it’s strange. I pretty much will go see anything Jason Statham is in (for the exception of “In The Name Of The King”). I even saw Transporter 2, which sucked terribly and was so over the top cheesy that it was just ridiculous, but I still had fun seeing it. The guy is just cool and I will definitely be seeing this one.
