Shrek 4 Confirmed

Shrek4It looks like the ogre will not stop. We get news about Shrek 4 from Jeffrey Katzenberg thanks to an exclusive interview from our friends at moviehole:

Are you doing more ‘’Shrek’’?
Yeah, we’re working on it now, so it’ll be 2010 – and it’ll be in 3D.

So when you say 3D are you going to have a 3D version and a normal version?
Yes, but the primary way in which it’ll be shown is 3D.

Is it called ‘’Shrek goes Fourth’’?
Yep, Shrek goes Fourth – Shrek goes out into the world, forth! A little play on words.

And Mike Myers still isn’t tired of playing Shrek?
Nah, he loves it. The entire cast are onboard for 4 and 5. It’s very much been a great franchise for all of us.

Yea, I didn’t like Shrek 3 at all. It was by far the worst of the series and I have yet to meet a person young or old that enjoyed the picture show. After the trilogy, it would of been a good time to hang up the gloves, but when a film can suck and still make a gazillion dollars – no one is going to stop the sequel machine.

I think part of the reason I am upset is because I would love to see Myers and Murphy do new projects. These guys are hilarious and I personally want to see them venture out and try new things. But not many comedies are going to guarantee the bank that this cartoon behemoth can pony up.

For the kids that are still Shrek crazy, I am certain this will be welcome news. Personally I would rather see more SpongeBob movies. He is a role model for children that I can support and endorse, because he is hilarious.

  1. i hate 2 say this but i did not like the shrek the 3rd & 1st.no humour it’s all uuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
now shrek 2 that was cool!!!!

  2. I didn’t hate the third one as much as other people did but it certainly wasn’t very memorable.

Hopefully they’ll think up some better stuff for the fourth.

  3. I think the problem with the Shrek series (despite my love for the first one) is that it relies too much on pop culture references to be memorable. Another problem is that the series is that it’s already on autopilot. They think that “Oh, it’s Shrek so it’s gonna make a shitload of money!” The third installment has already made $795 million worldwide so a fourth one is already inevitable. It’s sad that a great work of animation like Ratatouille is always lose to the fugly ogre like Shrek.

  4. The Problem with the first 2 was that they are only funny the first time you see them, Shrek 3 wasn’t funny at all. I have serious doubts number 4 and 5 will be good at all.
