  3. This is one of the worst movies ive ever seen! I just got back from the theatres, I fell asleep at least 10 times, and I couldnt wait for it to end. It was around 2 hours longer than it should have been. I love Jet Li! but a monkey king?!?! WTF?! and whats up with that stupid giggle of his when he fights? where is “Danny the dog”- Jet Li? Terrible script! “The gate to no gate”?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? WHAT?! The little pimpled white dude is a terrible actor! and what a cheezy ending! I feel like i just wasted two hours of my life watching a kindergarden movie..
    -2 stars

  4. What about Donnie Yen? Shouldn’t he be in the movie also. Most people do know about Donnie Yen, but he is a real good fighter. He was also in the movie Hero, but did not get the much fight scenes in there. I have been waiting for him to come out with his own movie in America. but that has not happened. I have most of his international movies and they are really good.

  5. As for me……i just hope that during the fight sequence the camera will not be shaking or moving alot like in usual Hollywood movies.

Can’t wait to see Liu Yifei….damn she is hot

  6. I’m with you. I don’t care if there’s an army of kids in this movie, Jackie and Jet finally together in footage that looks this sweet, with Yuen Wo-Ping, who directed Jackie in Drunken Master, all of it’s enough to make me totally psyched for this!!!!

  7. wow…..color me impressed…..looks good, but whats that white boy doin in my jet li, jackie chan flick….kickin ass

and the bride with the white hair enemy…..clans at was….jet li in period piece fightin jackie chan…..im happy and cant wait……now if donnie yueng shows up i will have a kung-fugasm…..

–goes to watchl 5-diagram pole fighter–

  8. THAT’S GONNA BE TIGHT! I DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ANYTHING ABOUT THE MOVIE. ALL I WOULD HAVE TO HEAR IS THAT THESE WERE IN THE SAME MOVIE TOGETHER AND I WOULD BE THERE OPENING DAY. This fuckin movie is gonna BANK!!

  9. Here is a brief story synopsis:

The film, which is loosely adapted from the Chinese literary epic JOURNEY TO THE WEST by John Fusco (HILDAGO), tells the story of an American teenager, played by Michael Angarano (ALMOST FAMOUS), who finds an antique Chinese staff in a pawn shop and is transported back to ancient China. There he meets drunken fist master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan), Golden Sparrow (Liu Yifei) and a deadly silent monk (Jet Li) on his journey to return the staff to its owner, the Monkey King, imprisoned by an evil warlord (Collin Chou).

  10. Not only will the Shia clone’s fight scenes be worse, but I’ll bet you anything he’s the hero of the flick. I mean he’s got the mystical staff uber weapon that’ll suddenly make him awesome right?

  11. Is it just me or does the woman in the white hair remind you of “Storm” from X-men? And the white kid, Michael Angarano, looks too much like Shia LaBeouf and I expect the Transformers to be storming through the walls (maybe with the rest of the X-Men cast?).

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Jackie Chan, I have so many movies of his I haven’t gotten through all of them yet but it looks like he’s taken the Drunken Master role (which is an awesome movie, the 2nd not the as much as the first) and just reprised it. The poor guy is type cast but then again he’s good at what he does. Who doesn’t love his prop comedy and “How the hell did he do that?” mentality?

With all that negative, ;), I am looking forward to the movie because I love getting my preconceptions messed with and coming out thinking, damn that was some good stuff.

  12. I have a question that I already know the answer too, why is there a white dude running around in this?

Why is it that hollywood gets so gunshy about making an all asian film? Crouching Tiger did great, and had an all asian cast. I mean come on, it’s not THAT big of a risk is it? It’s Jackie Chan and Jet Li for god’s sake! They’re probably the two most recognizable asian actors in the world (Chow Yun is up there too).

The movie looks cool, but I can’t stand that they felt they had to shoehorn the kid from Sky High into this.

    For shame.

  13. Wiu Xi is a very distinct style of film. It is as much fantasy as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. It isn’t a “fight” movie exactly although there is fighting involved. It looks like well-choreographed dance because that is exactly what it is. I know that some may not like it, or have gotten bored of the “trend” that has been around for over 30 years but I find movies like this hypnotic and love to just sink in to them.

    THAT being said..
Isn’t the the kid from Sky High? That is quite a set of shoes to fill being a caucasian kid next to Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Good on him.

  14. I may be among a few ppl when I say I can’t stand the fighting style of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, etc. This entire fantasy fighting is boring and childish to me.

I prefer the old fashion quick physical attacks. So this movie doesn’t interest me at all.

  15. Are Li and Chan on the same side though? It would be much more entertaining to see them against one another.

Also as much as I loved Crouching Tiger, Hero, Flying Daggers etc I’m getting a little bored of the ‘floaty’ wire work. Just choreograph a good fight sequence and let the pros work their magic. Hell – one of the best fights I’ve seen in recent years is Damon in Bourne Ultimatum and he’s not got a fraction of the training as Li or Chan.
