I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry Reviews

Chuck-LarryI’ve been getting a little tired of Adam Sandler in the last 2 or 3 years. His humor has worn a little thin on me and his schtick has lost its novelty. What really adds to that is the fact that Sandler can actually ACT (Holy crap was he ever good in “Reign Over Me” this year). And seeing him in those types of movies only reinforces my opinion that Sandler should more more and more away from comedy for a while.

Anyway, then along came the “I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry” trailers… and you know what? I thought they looked hilarious. Suddenly I was interested in seeing a Sandler comedy again. So what do the reviewers say? YIKES!!!! As of right now I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry is holding a 17% on Rotten Tomatoes. Here is what some of the critics are saying in their I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry reviews:

“The film is pro-gay but it’s less interested in collapsing straight-male hang-ups about gay men than is in putting on a surprisingly mawkish show of political correctness.”

Ed Gonzalez – Slant Magazine

“I Now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry isn’t just unfunny; it’s racist, sexist and homophobic — and truly unpleasant to watch. … I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry practices exactly the kind of intolerance it preaches against.”

James Rocchi – CBS

“It might seem offensive if it weren’t so lame.”

Christy Lemire – Associated Press

Man that’s too bad. But lets be honest here… I was committed to seeing this movie opening day regardless of what the reviews were like the moment I saw Jessica Biel in those tight leather cat outfit pants. MMEEEOOOWWWWW. I’m going to give the movie an 8/10 just for that alone.

  1. “Going in alive. Coming out the same way”
Once again, Adam Sandler brings all of his friend to be in his movie.

Two New York Firefighters with two different lives. One is a ladies man, or should I say successful playa, and the other is a family man. Both are straight as in heterosexual as in into women as in not playing for the other team, you catch the drift.

Kevin James who plays Larry the family man fears for his kids well-being and is in need of an insurance beneficiary to protect his children should he die in the line of duty because his wife died long time ago. Adam Sandler who plays the guy who chases hot girls (And I’m talking drop dead gorgeous hot girls) is bound by responsibility to help his friend Larry because he owes Larry his life. So they cooked up gay marriage and all that partnership stuff but the city sends an investigator to see if they’re lying, meanwhile they too hire the beautiful lawyer Jessica Biel (who has a great body by the way) to represent them.

man, that was too thick a paragraph for a plot, well let’s get down to business, shall we.
I think this movie is pretty hilarious and by that I mean the jokes and punchlines and the comedic situations and scenes hit the target. Especially Rob Schneider who plays the Asian dude.

But what I admire this movie is that it is a not-heavy and yet heartfelt comedy that aim to bring a certain awareness of how we need to treat each other as human beings, as people, no matter what lifestyle, religion, color, race, or background we have.
In this case the themes are gay lifestyle, friendship, loyalty, family, and honesty.

But I gotta warn you, if you don’t like the movie ’Blades of Glory’ because it has too much jokes that are implied toward homosexuality and gay lifestyle, then you probably won’t like ‘I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry’.

Speaking as a straight man, I think the movie ‘Chuck and Larry’ has to be seen by those who are still homo-phobic or just plain ignorant.

  2. I couldn’t care less if this movie was homophobic or sexist (which it’s probably NOT in the first place). I care about if it’s funny or not…and it’s an Adam Sandler film, so I’ll be avoiding this like the plague.

Someone also mentioned the fact everything he does is somehow tied into the fact that he’s Jewish…it seems to be true and I’m sick of it.

I wouldn’t care if he dropped dead of a heart-attack tomorrow.

  3. I don’t want to be offensive but I still want to see this movie. Those reviews as some one said were more like a reflex rather than a review. People could get angry over this mess and the papes at least are being seen as respectful.

    It Still looks funny!

  4. Campea, if you’re that desperate to jerk it to Biel, just buy her GQ cover or look up some pics online. Why subject yourself to this garbage? Just looking out for you, Gio:)

  5. I wasn’t planning on seeing this anyway. It sounded like a dog to me from day one. But I’m a huge Kevin James fan and I wish he’d do more movies. I’m so sick of Sandler.

  6. The only good thing about this movie is Biel, but her hotness cannot save this dismal attempt at a funny movie. James is routinely the loud obnoxious “loser” and Sandler seems to keep making his comedy movies to reference the fact that he’s Jewish (like he’s making a point). Both really have to start going at a different angle to humour. The Sandler flicks are becoming as routinely unfunny as Wil Ferrel films.

  7. In my opinion Sandlers last good comedy was Wedding Singer since then its been downhill, at least for the comedy side. Sandler has done OK in some of his non-comedy roles but i doubt he wants to take that direction.

  8. I have serious issues with Sandler, he isn’t funny but very annoying. But Kevin James is really funny in King of Queens and Jessica Biel is hot so imight give this movie a chance
