According to the good folks over at Yahoo News, Rob Schneider collapsed on set of his new film “Big Stan”. According to the news:
Rob Schneider was taken to a Northern California hospital after collapsing from food poisoning and heat exhaustion during the filming of an upcoming movie.
“The combination of bad food and the heat just hit him,” said his publicist, Shara Koplowitz. She did not know what he ate but said he was treated at San Joaquin General Hospital and released Wednesday.
It’s good to hear he was well enough to be released the next day. It’s no secret that I hate Rob Schneider as a performer. He’s an “R” rated performer who targets his “R” rated material at 10 year old kids. However, from all accounts (aside form being stupid sometimes) he sounds like he’s a decent guy and no one wants to hear about others suffering health problems… even if they are actors you don’t like.
However, after feeling relieved that Schneider was ok… I kept reading the article and discovered the synopsis of what this next film he’s working on is about… and the fact that HE HIMSELF IS DIRECTING IT:
Schneider, who recently starred in “The Benchwarmers” and “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo,” is directing the new movie in which he plays Big Stan, a con man locked up on fraud charges who learns kung fu to defend himself against other inmates.
I wish for the sake of all of us that when he was in the hospital they put him into an induced comma and spared us from this. Ok ok.. I am glad Schneider is ok… seriously. I just wish he’d take up another profession.
I watched MTVs Cribs and they showed Rob Schneider’s house. the place was gigantic, before he started showing the place, he said “And this is the house Adam Sandler bought for me…” The only way he could afford that house is because his old pal Adam from SNL days keeps getting im work. At least he admits that, ill give him some props for that…
even better, in big stan he learns kung fu from david carradine.its still gonna be shit though.
i’ll use more poison while making his food next time.

The post title is exactly what I thought when I first heard this story.
I might be the only person to say this here…..But I think Rob Schneider learning kung fu will be hilarious. Yes I know the movie itself is gonna be stupid but you have to agree that this may have the Scary Movie 4-ism in it. You know as John said: 200 jokes could very well be responded with 20 laughs.

Nooooooo,,,i’m not saying its a bad film, i like the film, its a very good film, but i didn’t like him in it.
i only recently saw the South Park thing and OMG i laughed my ass off. So the guy isn’t a good actor, he doesn’t know,,or maybe her does, only god knows.
But i thought the part he had in Demo Man was not suited to him!
AND no i did not know Mr. Black was in that, gonna have to check that out, thats for that little bit of info!
heh ouch Kate. Demolition Man is about my favorite movie ever. I wish they’d put together more casts like that to deliver dialogue written by the guy from “Heathers”. I love it. You know Jack Black is in it? He’s a henchman that jumps out and attacks John Spartan near the end.
Anyway, I had this conversation with my girlfriend awhile back. We agree with John in that Rob needs to find a new profession, and probably should have back before South Park made him into “The Stapler” and “The Durka Durr”. Regardless, he fantastic job with his character in Demolition Man, if only because I can’t imagine a guy who could pull off a better combination of enthusiasm/confusion/futuristic homogeny/being a giant vag.
And damn you for forcing my hand into posting anything in defense of Rob Schneider. err. and i’m glad he’s ok.

And to think Schneider was in Demoliction Man and he was crap in that as well, and that was kind of a serios roll, in a way!
Couldn’t stand him in anything i saw, i pity the poor little dude.
A few months ago he presented Screen Play on Mtv Uk & Ireland and he was a complete clown.
I agree with you Campea, he needs another profession, badly. Coz if he doesn’t he’ll get sick more, and we don’t want that now!
