Die Hard 4 News

At the Cannes Film Festival, Bruce Willis announces the fourth “Die Hard” is on the way. “I’ve got a little bit of good news. We’re as close as we’ve ever got to getting Die Hard 4 started. It won’t be called Die Hard 4 but that will be the story. Hopefully it will be out next summer.” Here’s an interesting tidbit: scribes for the picture are reworking the plot to avoid similarities to the aftermath of hurricane Katrina (the original draft of the script had a city getting flooded when levies break… no I’m not kidding).

About the possible involvement of Britney Spears in the project, Willis said, “That is the most amazing thing that I’ve ever heard. Someone told me that it was on Page Six, and it made me laugh that day. I don’t know what she’d be doing in Die Hard 4, but you hear a lot of crazy things in the world, don’t you?”

  1. Great news….?

Actually, I chalk this up in the same category as Lucas’ “Indy 4′ in a “will they or won’t they” situation. Considering that the ‘Die Hard’ formula had always been around, it helped popularize it to the point of ad nauseum. Some action films were alright with the formula, but by “Under Siege” (which was the peak) there was nowhere else to go. It got tiresome.
That’s one of the reasons why “Die Hard 4” hasn’t been done yet. With the competition, ‘Die Hard’ had to expand. First was the building. The second film was more in line with the novel on which it was based, set around an airport. The third was Die Hard in the city. The films clearly expanded in scope; it was the only way to up the ante.

I personally wished for a ‘Die Hard’ in the Philippines (the first film mentions a new Nakatomi expansion; model and all) but I’m alright with anything they come up with so long as two items are in place.

One is the film have ‘Die Hard’ in the title. It’s a brand name. Bruce Willis in Die Hard 4. You know what it is and what it should contain.

Two, and I will NOT see this film should it be made if one actress is not so much as approached for this film. One of my biggest peeves of the last one was that after the first two films I had trouble believing that McClaine’s marriage to Holly was on the rocks. But by the film’s end, he was patching things up by phone. SO bottom line: Bonnie Bedelia.
I repeat: Bonnie Bedelia!! I will refuse any future Die Hards that don’t even offer a Holly cameo.

    And Bruce…sign more autographs.
