Dallas The Movie Gets New Director

Looks like Dallas The Movie is picking itself back up after the original director for the project, Robert Luketic, apparently left because he didn’t like the casting decisions being made (as a side note, it seems to me that it takes a lot of balls to walk away from high profile project like Dallas).

So what do the producers do? They hire Bend it Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha. Now don’t get me wrong, I thought Beckham was a fine little movie… but it’s really the only thing of note she seems to have done. Suddenly she’s directing Dallas?!?! Oh well… I guess the same could have been said about Peter Jackson before he did Lord of the Rings.

But one thing that I do find strange… Gurinder Chadha is supposedly directing the big screen version of “I Dream Of Jeannie” which is reportedly already in pre-production. Is she dropping Jeannie for Dallas? Or is Dallas not planning on starting production for another 4-6 months?

I’m interested to see how this all plays out.
