However, we spend most of the time talking about the Oscars… everything that’s wrong with them and how we think they can imporve the show. Your input is also required.

  1. i would think the young girls would be into spiderman because of the spiderman character and tobey. i seriously hope teenage girls don’t idolize mary jane. as a character she’s fine for an action movie but as a person she reinforces every stereotype in the book.

    -its important to be beautiful

-money doesnt matter yet you should find someone with money

-its better to be unhappy but with someone than to be alone

-lying is easier than telling the truth

-be stupid because theres when you screw up a man will fix things

    -dentists are stupid

anyway, i wouldnt mind losing mary jane as long as they don’t make spiderman too much of a sucker for gwen stacy too. for me then the romance spidey stories were always boring so trimming it out of the movies would be great because it would leave more room for action.

  2. Um, wouldn’t the teenage girls rather look at Tobey Maguire?

Best bit of the whole series so far: Doc Ock’s operation room massacre!

Worst bit: Any point in Spidey 2 when Aunt May starts trying to sound all frail and helpless as she dishes out inspiration. “I believe there’s a he-ro in alllll of us.” Spidey should’ve THWACKed the bitch.

I’m all for swapping deaths. Ron Howard’s kid is much hotter anyway. MJ looks ill in Spidey 2.

  3. Keer-sten Dunst.

    Not Kris-ten Dunst.

I don’t think they will kill MJ off because they’d run the risk of losing their teenage girl fanbase. Alot of girls go see Spiderman because of Kirsten Dunst.

    Do you agree?

Im 16, so this is coming from a teenagers perspective.

  4. This year, I couldn’t agree more about the music.

However, in year’s past I like a lot of the music numbers.

Especially when someone who’s actually good sings it…like Sting.

  5. Its a lock that MJ will go down this movie. Dunst said she would only 3 Spidey movies so introducing Gwen Stacey is a stroke of genius. Bryce Howard is an awesome actress and will be a welcome replacement.

  6. Totally kill Mary Jane.

The Peter-MJ story is pretty much over now. If they make up and break up one more time I’m gonna puke. Also, I know that Spider-man is the more cartoony of the superhero movies, but those villains are kinda useless. The series needs to go up a notch to remain interesting. Venom is scary so Spider-man 3 is going to go a little darker than the others so maybe they could kill her off. Or Aunt May, I suppose. At least it would make her stop with the god damn emotional monologues every five minutes.

I loved Hulk! It’s the only one that doesn’t follow the typical superhero formula that was established way back in Richard Donner’s Superman (Guy becomes superhero, Guy meets chick, guy is torn between chick and superhero-ness, villain does nasty things forcing him to be all superhero-ey, the end). The Hulk was all Frankensteiny and Wolfmanny and actually had something to whine about (not like Batman’s 20 year old tragedy or Spider-man’s homework). Also, Ang Lee was the only one to completely fuck with the origin story introducing the evil father bit. It made it seem like a fresh story, not an update of one I’ve heard a dozen times before. And with the father being the bad guy they didn’t need any of those bullshit “And here’s how the bad guy got bad” sequences. Also, the ending was bonkers.

  7. KILL MARY JANE!

And 3 Six Mafia winning was a surprise to everyone except me, apparently. The Original Song category should go to the song that most encompasses the movie, and pimps and hos is what Hustle and Flow is about.

  8. Good Oscar comments. You pretty much nailed all the complaints that make this “event” a bore.

    -MUSIC-

With the music. I seriously don’t get why they have these at all. Each song gets 5-7 minutes of air time yet each movie only gets about 30 seconds of air?

Also, you nailed it by pointing out that these songs arent even good enough to make it on the radio. And what pisses me off the most is that pimp song would never get airtime because in todays “scene” that song is just plain weak. Yet somehow it now has an oscar? Why? Because its relevent to the movie? The song “That Thing You Do” had a whole movie dependent on its quality as a “hit single” If the song failed the movie failed so why did that end up losing when it was so much more relevent to the actual movie?

    -Short Films-

I’ve NEVER understood the purpose of this catagory on live TV. Foreign language, artsy films may not be suited for everyone but IF you wanted to see it then you can find a theater in the next town over. But where in gods name do you go to see one of these short films? If for some reason i wanted to judge “best animated short” for myself then where the hell am i supposed to look? If its not accessible to the general public then why the hell do we have to waste our time with seeing it get an award?

    -Jon Stewart-

He was good, but just like Chris Rock then when they are forced to restrain then their comedy suffers. He developed a career out of pointing out when things go wrong. He did great in pointing things out but you could see on his face that he was hesitating or picking out the “safest” joke. As a viewer then thats just not fun.

What i do feel is great is when a host can roast the audience. Some of these hollywood actors are so full of themselves so its hilarious to have them made fun of and the camera exposes how pompous they are.

Anyway, i dont think i could ever watch an award show without Tivo. So i congratulate you guys on being that patient and thanks for the great coverage.

  9. What is with the overkill of computer-animated animal movies?

Is there nothing left to animate? All of these look the same with slight differences in the character detail.

The Wild-features zoo animals.Zoo Animals again?!?!.

Open Seasons-animals that might be shot at

Happy Feet-penguins .march of the penguins made this happen

    Over the Hedge-backyard animals

Doogal-features a dog and in the trailer whoopi goldberg mentions

    Ice Age 2-extinct animals

Kids films featuring animals is nothing new but when Cars gets released it might seem like the most inspired computer animated movie ever next to all these clones.

With all the money, time, and people it takes to make computer animated films you would think maybe something would be different about any of these.

Have computer animated films become so cheap to make that when Finding Nemo I mean Cars is relesed we wont just see A Truck Tale but also a Flatbed Adventure,Motorcycle Friends, and The Junk Yard?

  10. 1) Spider-Man: first of all, screw it all, I’d have Spidey battle The Lizard. But since we are stuck with Sandman, ‘maybe’ Venom and ‘maybe’ Green Goblin II, let’s get to the issue at hand: Kirsten Dunst needs to punished for her loose lips. No…I would not off Mary Jane. I might not even smoke Mary Jane…look, Gobby threw her off the bridge, Ock had her bound and gagged. Does the third villian get it right and just freaking do her in?

No…I would spare Mary Jane…but I would give her a broken leg and/or a bum knee.

Something that in time will heal. Heck- I would even “leave” her for dead, but Hail Mary Full O Grace, she gets a last minute reprive.

I am one of those who do not despise Dunst. I love Dunst. I think she’s just fine. But I tink she’ll swoon over this makeup-FX guy named Quentin and unknowingly be in an abusive relationship. She breaks up with Quentin, who also decides to go after Peter Parker as well…after donning his fishbowl helmet and becoming Mysterio.

    Ha Ha Ha

    2) I left most of my comments about the Oscars below, but I’m in utter shock. A good ten to fifteen minutes could have been spared if the presenters didn’t mumble and stutter attempting to read the teleprompters. Lauren Bacall especially.

A day later, and I recall one of the Crash prodos awkwardly giving numerous thank yous until being draind out. Paul Haggis, who had near stagefright and used up the clock when he was up for co-script and his writing partner was cut off, they could have given him a tip of the hat. Oddly, on adapted script, note that Academy gave very good time space to Diane Onassa and Larry McMurtry. Hmmm…

I strongly disagree on the “ad campaigns” Stewart created, I thought they were lame.

While I sort of agree on the best song category- what do want, Campea? The return of Debbie Allen? Holy crap! Then again, while I’m happy the Hustle & Flow tune won, I also thought “Whoop That Trick” from the same film was better than “Pimp”; in any case- I long for the day where…well, let’s put it this way. Remember the 80’s? Early 90’s? You know- songs which people have heard of? I’m talking you know, full freakin soundtracks like Footloose and Flashdance and movies with songs in them. Original songs.

Where’s Randy Newman? He just up and quit? Where’s Bryan Adams? Dammmit, where the hell is our dear friend Kenny Loggins?

As for short films and such -and I still haven’t heard your thoughts on this- why not show the nominees for short doc, LA short and animated short on iTunes on the actual site?

Now, there are some animated short films now and then which piggyback on major releases (such as the Ice Age short a few years ago) and, instead of ‘commercials’ play a short instead?

-What Sealer really wants to do is direct.

  11. About Gwen Stacy thingy that maybe Mary Jane could die cause u got the green goblin who might be coming back as Harry Osborne so maybe itll be how Gwen died
