Rapper “The Game” Might Be B.A. Baracus In A-Team Movie

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. Why is it when Hollywood needs a black actor for a role in a semi-big to big movie they incessantly look at bloody rappers for the roles???? I spend some time in Los Angeles, and I can tell you there are LOADS of talented young black actors here who have committed their entire lifetimes to developing their art. There are here! They are available! They are GOOD! They are just waiting for a break… give the role to one of these guys instead of fucking idiot rapper, or idiot rock star or idiot “famous for something else other than acting” person. GAAAA!!!!

The word right now is that rapper “The Game” is in serious contention to be B.A. Baracus in the upcoming A-Team movie. DAMN!

Ok… to be fair… it’s not like the role of B.A. will take a ton of talent to pull off. Even Mr. T himself just grunted a lot and didn’t have many lines and unless “Game” is a total moron I’m sure he could pull it off… hell I could pull it off. But come on… give this to an actor… not this guy. Please. Pretty please.

  1. What about all his tattoos all over his face? Mr. T never had tattoos. If they are thinking of doing extra work to cover those up then that just further justifies John’s argument. I think that people would come out to see A-Team without The Game being in it. What are they so worried about?

  2. If something like this upsets you, perhaps you really need some perspective on the situation…

We’re talking about a role made famous by Mr T. Before he became an actor he was a bodyguard and bouncer. I don’t believe HE ever spent much time honing his craft as an actor (outside of a gymnasium).

By comparison The Game or any other rapper is probably more qualified due to their entertainment background. If T could “hone his craft” as a bodyguard, I’m sure acting in music videos and performing on stage are better experience.

The Game might be good, he might be terrible. But his previous job does not mean he is predetermined to never be a great actor. Plenty of great actors started out doing other things before becoming an actor. Plenty of “real” actors started out being pretty crappy too.

Music is not acting. But by the same token, acting in a sitcom, on stage or even in different genre’s of film are not the same thing either. The only way to get experience acting in a film is to… act in a film.

If the Game totally sucks, and the film is terrible, at least we can all watch reruns of Mr T’s oscar worthy performances.

(For the record, I do love Mr T)

  3. they need to just forget the whole bad ass type, if they are gonna make this movie they need to realize that they wouldn’t let someone like the game in the military ( no offense game, but ur an OG not a soldier) so if any one is gunna be B.A. it should be some one like, Dennis Haysbert, or Tony Todd…

  4. Rodney you kill me. Look how defensive you get over Zac Efron. Seriously? Zac Fn Efron. Dude gets roles because he’s a pretty boy and the girls like him just like Game gets roles because he’s a famous rap artist. Will Game probably be the next Will Smith? Prob not. Will Zac Efron be the next Johnny Depp or Leo Dicaprio? Prob not. And I agree with PMAN about how people get up in arms about the rapper thing. I don’t remember people going crazy over Bon Jovi taking roles away from actors when he starred in U-571 or any of the other movies he’s been in. lol.

    1. So because I disagree then its defensive? Do you like just calling people defensive so that when they say they are not you can just say “SEE!!??”

Its not defensive. Its discussion. Calling it defensive is just your dodge.

    2. It should be said that Depp wanted to break out of the teen/pretty boy roles early in his career; if Zac Efron decides to follow the lead, he can. It should also be said that, even if Zac Efron got his start on the Disney network, he is still a working actor. Will audiences give that actor a chance should he pursue such things remains to be seen.

As for Jon Bon Jovi, nobody went “crazy” over him being in U-571 much less Cry Wolf or Vampires II because there wasn’t much to be crazy about.
It should be pointed out, that with the exception of the DTV Vampires, Jon Bon Jovi has only minor supporting roles. U-571, by the way, had far bigger problems than Jon Bon Jovi among an ensemble cast.

In any case, I think we have loosely missed the point of why most musicians, specifically gangsta and/or hip hop rappers stink in movies. It isn’t because they may or may not have acting talent, it is because they refuse to act. They feel they must keep up the “stage act” that they have built up around themselves. Keep an eye on the roles they usually take:

      * Criminals/reformed criminals

      * Rappers/musicians/themselves

      * Cops/informants.

Sadly, over half such parts also re-enforces occasional negative stereotypes, some of which they themselves either disown in their music, or embrace in their stage acts. In any case, usually they cannot detach themselves from a stage persona.

  5. What does it matter if rappers are “idiots?” There are plenty of very smart people I don’t want to see act and some very stupid people who can probably act really well. Go ahead and call The Game a bad choice for this (he is), but lets not go around making irrelevent assumptions about his intelligence.

  6. Man if they go with a rapper (And they will it adds a demographic, like it or not) it’s should be Cube. Here’s an idea that would never happen. Dr. Dre that dude is just menacing and has presence and can do funny (Look at his pre-nwa days or Eminems videos). The Game sucks on screen and off but I see why they (the suits) think it makes since, build wise, until it blow up in their face and I hope it does.

    1. I referred to them as such because that is how they want to be perceived. They all want you to think that they can kick your ass, and its not “cool” to have an education unless it was “frum da street”

  7. Talentless goons. Wow! Tell us how you really feel. Someone is a hater. And actors getting roles because they have good agents happens all the time in hollywood. It doesn’t just happen with actors. Zac Efron isn’t starting to get offered high profile studio projects because he’s the next Fn’ Deniro. He has a built in audience cuz of all that High School musical crap. They are prob a lot more talented young actors than him that aren’t getting the oppurtunites because they aren’t on the cover of some teen mag.

And are we really getting hyped on who plays B.A Barracus in a A-Team movie? People are acting like Steven Spielburg casted Game as Martin Luther King in his Bio Pic. B.A is prob a small role just like in the T.V show in terms of having a lot of lines. All this person has to do is say some one liners and shoot a stupid gun.

    1. Just remember that Leonardo DiCaprio was my generation’s Zac Efron, and he fared ok. Maybe Zac has it in him. We don’t know.

But at least those are guys who made their living trying to be an actor, just so they could lose out on the chance because a popular rapper has a good agent.

    2. Di Caprio got his start in the likes of This Boy’s Life and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. Efron got his start in made for Disney Channel movies and lame body switching comedies.

      1. DiCaprio got his start as the adopted street smart kid on Growing Pains but before that had parts in The New Lassie, Poison Ivy, and Critters 3. He didn’t “start” in serious dramas either. Zac has barely begun. We have no idea if he will make something more of himself or forever be a Disney Kid.

        1. I love how Zac Efron has barely begun. Well Game has barely begun too. This would be his like third movie if he lands this role. And please. Lay off the DiCaprio thing. Johnny Depp was on 21 jump street. Everyone has to start somewhere. But come on buddy. Dicaprio’s roles in those minor movies were small. Even in growing pains he was a minor player. Efron is the star of multiple Disney productions. He’s no better than the Jonas brothers. He’s the male version of Lindsay Lohan. Next thing you’re going to tell me is that Miley Cyrus could be the next Julia Roberts. I mean you could say that but would you really believe it?

          1. Play nice. Before Depp on Jump Street, there was A Nightmare On Elm Street and…. Private Resort! (Note: his Resort co-star was Rob Morrow of Northern Exposure and Number$)

  9. If we are going this way, could there be at least a shout out to LL Cool J?

    BUT THE GAME?
    I’ll quote John here:

No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No

If I were casting though, I’d ask for Terry Crews of ‘Balls Of Fury’ and ‘Idiocracy’ however.

  10. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I just don’t understand why people can’t ask why don’t they hire a trained or proven black actor instead of a rapper with hardly any acting experience. Instead of pulling the idiot, moron, stupid, and any other term that degrateds someone’s intelligence card when referring to rappers. I know “certain people” do not respect rapping as an art form, but it is art. It’s urban poetry. It’s the only poetry that is popular today. If most rappers are idiots then most college educated people would quit their nine to 5 jobs making 30k and become a great rapper. Because it’s so easy even an idiot can be good at it.

    1. Any idiot with a publicist and an agent can be a star. That’s their jobs.

And if they so chose to do so, I could record an album and be the next biggest thing if they were going to MAKE me, and you would still defend me calling it talent. Call it “urban poetry” all you want, but its a product and you were told you will like it. The best part is they brainwashed people into thinking it was YOUR idea to elevate these celebrities.

Most music out today is a product.

  11. the guy who kept on whining about racism in transformers calls the grammy nominated artist a “fucking idiot rapper”

    classy….

    1. i didnt say this was about race rodney, but then again i wouldnt expect you to be able to understand that.

all i did was comment on the fact john freaked out about what he thought was racism in transformers 2, but then decides that because The Game is a rapper, he must be a “fucking idiot.”

      1. No, you assume that is the basis for his assessment. Much like you have to jump to a conclusion that I wouldn’t be able to comprehend your veiled meaning? Kettle? Pot? Have you two met?

And Rappers getting gigs as actors are ONLY because they have good agents and has nothing to do with ability. They hire these talentless goons because they might draw in some of their fanbase to see the movie. There are a lot of actors who could do a better job, but they go for the publicity stunt casting to get a “name” on there

        1. Rodney stop being a biased idiot. So if someone is a rapper it automatically makes them a moron? Ludacris, Will Smith, Common Eminem and Mos Defare all great actors. Stop bitchin, your real problem is tht you dislike rap music.

          1. I enjoy plenty of types of music, some of it is even Rap. This has nothing to do with my musical tastes. Your real problem is that you have to assume that to try and make a point that you dont have.

If Sam Jackson suddenly started a rap career every rap fan would suddenly be up in arms that he was using his movie popularity to try and make it as a rapper and tell him to stick to acting.

And I question your assessment that Ludacris, Common or Eminem qualify in those exceptions to the rule like Will Smith (who spent a decade becoming a respectable actor) and Mos Def.

          2. umm no. If Sam Jackson wanted to be a rapper ppl wouldnt have a problem with it as long as his music didn’t suck.

Oh and what did you say about assuming to make a point?

Have you seen 8 mile? Crash?

          3. 8Mile? Where Eminem played… Eminem? Yeah. Wonderful acting skills when he had to act exactly like he already acts?

            Keep trying.

        2. But, Hollywood has a long history of doing this. Hiring popular artist is nothing new. Athletes, Singers and comics have always been given roles they didn’t deserve and most of them couldn’t act. Johnny Weissmuller, Sugar Ray Robinson, The Rat Pack, Elvis, Jim Brown, Madonna and damned near every hot comic to ever tell a joke. It’s been going since movies have been made. Why the outcry now? I think that’s why people are so quick to jump on the racist band wagon. It appears that people have a problem more with the rappers than with the fact that their getting parts. Elvis couldn’t play dead and how many movies did he star in? Were people screaming about him getting parts over more talented actors. I don’t know maybe they did, I’m too young to know.

    2. Have you heard what he raps about? The Game is an idiot, just like 95% of the mainstream rappers out there. I personally think that a lot of these rappers can’t act and SHOULD stay off the screen. Leave the job to real actors. (not all musicians are bad actors, but let’s be real here…most of them truly are.) I agree with John, with tons of talented African Americans out there, why the hell do we go for the lowest common denominator in casting?

  12. Terry Crews (ie the office linebacker) should be BA he is really underrated as a comedic actor and has the intimidating physique to pull it off.

  13. John be careful about what you say you might get a disstrack :D ^^
but i totally agree with you

just think of Ice Cube in Trippe xXx 2 !!! so horrible

  14. John I usually agree with you, But GAME could pull it off, the Man is has a B.A (bad Attitude) persona. He’s not a great actor, but you made a good point Mr. T wasn’t either. Game is intimidating as fuck, he would pull this off…A Blood for Compton on Screen playing BA Baracus….What? SIGN ME UP,…

  15. well there goes that. I guess acting talent is no longer required to be an actor. if you are a rapper, then rap. not many singers, actors or whatever are able to successfully crossover into other forms of entertanment(?), and should stick to what they do best, even if what they do best is suck at what they are currently doing. I like the game’s albums, don’t get me wrong. Why not give this to an unknown actor?

    1. I hae to agree with Hugo, I think that Mos Def is a good actor… Anyway If they put The Game next to Bradley cooper and liam neeson… I will Boycott this movie….. I do find it hard to beleive that they would do this. since they have tony and ridley scott listed as producers. I find it hard to beleive that tony and ridly scott would allow this to happen as the producers I would think they have input as to who is hired for the roles…..Anyway, according the the IMDB profile for A-team they have Common listed asRumored BA, it’ a better choice than the game IMO but I still see a better class of actor covering BA…… I wish they would stop just throwing the hey lets cast a rapper in these roles. If they open call for a part and a rapper ends up getting the part because they are most qualified for the part so be it but I hate that they go out and look only in a pool of rappers for these parts….
