Knight Rider TV Movie to spawn a Series

As porly receieved as the Knight Rider TV Movie were, it appears that NBC is moving ahead with a new TV series using the movie as its pilot episode.

Rope of Silicon says:

NBC is going to move forward with a complete series reports Variety saying the show was just added to NBC’s 2008-09 roster. Despite being horrible, the series did bring in solid ratings in a February that was filled with alternative programming such as reality television galore. On top of that, who wouldn’t want to see a new “Knight Rider”?

The thing I like about Pilots is that it gives the creators the chance to fix things to make the show better.

Many people are cursing this remake as the pilot was only luke warm as it was. But keep in mind that feedback has been heard and they likely will address those they feel have merit. I personally thought the show was ok. Not great but considering the original show was super cheesey even by 80s standards, are we really surprised?

My advice would be to get a more charismatic female lead. Or none at all. Mike Traceur should be a lone wolf. New babes every week.

That and give Kitt a stronger voice. As soft and proper as the original Kitt was, Val Kilmer’s voice was not a good fit. He needs a voice of authority and something that convey’s the superiority that Kitt represents.

I for one am looking forward to see what they do with it. I will wait to see what changes they make (if any) before making up my mind on it.

  1. Louis vuitton sent their fall/winter 2012/2013 collection down the Milan Fashion Week runway today and it featured a much darker, more gothic and vampire-like color palette than what was shown by the iconic design house for fall 2011. One year ago louis vuitton Handbags showed bright colors and blocked them together, helping to explode the current color blocking trend. For fall 2012, Gucci moved away from the trend they started and let black rule the runway.

  2. Knight Rider does not resemble transformers in anyway. The KITT Cobra is a far better machine than the Police Cobra in Transformers, Which is more like a Cartoon than a movie. I thought I was watching a bunch of car parts flying around like in Twister when the robots were fighting.
I think Transformers is a great movie in it’s own right but nothing like Knight Rider.

  3. GREAT, AWESOME!
That is my take! It left me hungry for more! KITT Cobra is 10 times better than that old low horsepower Firebird that didn’t even rival Smokey and the Bandit’s Trans Am. Mike is Sharp, the girl is a Doll and Who could ask for more? David Hasselhoff at the end!
They could dig the old Firebird out of moth balls and trick it up and have two KITTS. Mike’s girlfriend or Hasselhoff could drive the Bird.
I hope NBC plays the pilot again so everyone that thinks it was bad even though they haven’t even seen it can get straight.

  4. I am with Ian here. I thought the Moive was fine. No it was not a BSG, but not many re-makes are going to be. I felt the commercials were a littl over the top (ford commercials that is) however, being a Mustang owner myself, I thought it was a great upgrade for the Knight Industries Three Thousand.

Series should focus more on the detective and mystery side, and less on the pathetic romance angle, though.

  5. I think they need a new voice for KITT, and they REALLY need to drop the ford deal, and get themselves a better, more sporty car. The Mustang is great and everything, but it goes against the original style of the car. It needs to be a small, low, wedge shaped car.

Val Kilmer wasn’t good, he wasn’t funny and he had none of the charm of the original.

Other than that, I thought it had potential. I’d like a new series, but my feeling is it won’t be well received and will be cancelled fairly swiftly.

  6. didn’t anyone see the pilot? it was awful, beyond awful infact. It was a bad copy of transformers without the awesome transformations into a robot. I think it’ll be cancelled pretty quickly if they ever get to make it.
