I am a huge fan of foreign horror films, and am always disappointed when they don’t get the love they deserve here in North America. First instance, Spain’s zombie flick, ‘Rec’ will not be seen by most North American audiences. (They will probably witness the remake, ‘Quarantined’ before the original.) A l’interieur (Inside) is honestly one of the scariest films I have ever seen and it’s getting a direct to DVD release here.
That’s why it makes me happy to say that the Swedish vampire film, ‘Let The Right One In’ is going to get some theatrical release love here in North America after it premieres in Sweden this April.
The great folks at RowThree.com give us these details:
Based on the best selling novel from Swedish writer John Ajvi Lindqvist, it is the story of two twelve year olds, Oskar and Eli, who have a budding romance plagued by a dark twist: Eli is a vampire.
Let the Right One In is scheduled to open in Sweden in April and Magnet has picked up rights to the North American distribution so I assume we’ll be seeing it later this year.
A movie about tween vampires that’s actually supposed to be scary? Sign me up for this one! The last vampire movie I saw that was helmed in Sweden, was the highly underrated ‘Frostbiten.’ So I’m ready to set my fangs into another Swedish vampire flick! Go over to CHUD to read more details and to view the trailer.
Does anyone know when it will open here in America?

Trust me my friends, this film is nothing like Frostbite. Frostbite was a half-assed attempt at a horror comedy by optimistic amateurs. Let the Right On In is a high budget (by swedish standards) production by seasoned professionals. It maintains a high artistic level and is faithful to the bestselling book on which it is based. Foreigners might consider it bleek and slow moving, but hey, it’s swedish!
Yeah, Frostbiten was mediocre. The only part I liked was the talking dog.
Frostbite was fucking horrible. Everybody on that film made the wrong decision every fucking time. Forget that one and wait for this instead.
Wow. That looks pretty like it could be pretty decent. I tend to trust your taste in horror.
Sadly I missed out on Frostbite.
Twitch reviewed it a few weeks ago.
I can’t wait to see it.
