John’s 10 Hottest Female Character Parts

i was having a conversation with a buddy of mine the other day about some of the hottest female characters in the movies. Now let me be clear about this… we ARE NOT talking about the hottest actresses. We’re talking about movie characters. There are times when an actress plays a certain role and she just comes off as hotter than you ever thought possible… and then maybe be nothing special in another role. So this list, is specifically about the hottest female character roles in movies

As always, the list is subjective. Here ya go.

1) Courteney Cox as Melissa Robinson in Ace Ventura Pet Detective

Before “Friends” came along, Courtney Cox was that chick from “Masters of the Universe”… but more importantly she was Melissa from Ace Ventura. To this day, she is without competition the single most beautiful female character ever to grace the screen to me.

2) Cameron Diaz as Tina Carlyle in The Mask

Oh good grief. I remember a bunch of buddies and I were all roomates and we would watch The Mask OVER AND OVER AND OVER again just to see this young new comer named Cameron Diaz at Tina. Holy crap she sizzled. Today, I really don’t think Diaz is all that hot in general…. but in The Mask, she made my private parts melt to a nuclear degree.

3) Katharine Hepburn as Tracy Lord in The Philadelphia Story

Va Va Va VOOM!!!! The term “classic beauty” was made for Catherine Hepburn, and in The Philadelphia Story she never looked better. I mean, you gotta be a hottie to have Carry Grant and James Stewart both falling for you in the same movie

4) Rachel McAddams as Claire Cleary in Wedding Crashers

Once again… not saying she’s one of the hottest actresses in the world… but in Wedding Crashers whenever she was on screen I was slightly distracted from the humor because all I could think about was various items of my anatomy that I’d like to put in her mouth. Holy crap she looked amazing in that flick

5) Kate Beckinsale as Selene in Underworld

Beckinsale…. tight black leather…. sigh.

6) Jessica Alba as Nancy Callahan in Sin City

Sadly, I’ve been forced to come to the conclusion that Alba doesn’t have much acting talent. I’ve even come to believe she isn’t all that good looking (by Hollywood standards that is), but if you had a room of 100 men and asked anyone who didn’t think Alba was pure sexy in Sin City to raise their hands…. 99 of the men would take that one man outside and beat some sense into him.

7) Halle Berry as Ginger Knowles in Swordfish

Not that good of a movie made deliciously watchable by every moment Ginger Knowles in blessing us with her presence on the screen. The famous gratuitous boob shoot aside, that women got a lot of engines revving.

8) Catherine Zeta-Jones as Virginia Baker in Entrapment

Doug will be upset that this isn’t number 1… but you’ll have a hard time winning an argument that she doesn’t at least belong on this list. That whole “Bending over with my ass in tight black spandex way up in the air while I crawl under this red laser” scene shall go down in history… and she makes it on this list for that shot alone!

9) Megan Fox as Mikaela Banes in Transformers

Sorry…. but this chick can’t act. Doesn’t matter for the purposes of this list though. She is pure liquid porno in this flick.

10) Bridget Moynahan as Dr. Cathy Muller in The Sum of All Fears

It’s a small part in the movie… but there is just something about a woman that looks THAT good… and is smart… that is just soooo damn sexy to me.

So there you have it. My little list of what I personally consider to be the 10 hottest female character roles in film. What do you think of it? Give me some of yours that I don’t have on my list.

  2. Is The Notebook a chick flick? Because I totally caught my bearded hulking bf watching it one night – and he said it was good. But yes, she’s hot ad she doesn’t have the bimbo aura. So does Ryan Gosling, if I may say so myself.

  3. Rachel McAdams is gorgeous. I’m a big fan of hers, especially in The Notebook. I usually DESPISE chick flicks, but that thing just……sigh………….

  4. Has anybody said Rosario Dawson yet? I’m not sure I can think of one movie though… How about Rosario in EVERYTHING she’s been in.

Clerks 2 – Glasses, dressed down. Hot, in my opinion…

I also agree with everyone who says Rachel McAdams but the movie that I constantly fall in love with her in is Red Eye.

  5. “I cant remember the name of this actress but she played Helen of Troy in “Troy” and she was the girl in “National Treasure” as well.”
    Diane Kruger

“Main chick in ferris bueller’s day off.”
    Mia Sara

    “and that chick from Tootsie”
Jessica Lange…unless you mean Dustin Hoffman’s character ;)

“What about the chick from “Just one of the Guys” ??? Don’t remember her name but her fun bags were amazing.”
    Joyce Hyser

People, it’s called IMDB, use it.

  6. i don’t get the love for megan fox…she is pretty average. she has zero charisma….i just don’t think she is as outstanding as everyone makes out…..maybe its that i just can’t get past her porno level acting skills…..

  7. Just thought of two new ones:

Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction (before the overdose)

Giselle Bundchen in Taxi (probably one of the best pairs of legs in cinematic history)

  8. 1) Catwoman – Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman

    2) Trinity – Carrie Anne Moss in The Matrix

    3) Ming’s Daughter – Ornella Mutti in Flash Gordon

    4) Lisa – Kelly LeBrock in Weird Science

    5) Maxine – Catherine Keener in Being John Malcovich.

  9. I’m surprised at some of the choices, but can’t complain about any.

    Mine:
    Sandra Bullock – Anything, but my fav was A Time to Kill;
    Michelle Johnson – Blame it on Rio (thanks for the reminder, Movie Replicas);
    Jessica Biel – London, but she’s just all-around hot;
    Elisha Cuthbert – The Girl Next Door;
    Liz Hurley – Bedazzled (WOW! That red dress!) and Austin Powers;
    Camille Belle – The Quiet;
    Michelle Pfeiffer – Batman Returns;
    Carrie-Anne Moss – The Matrix;
    Sienna Miller – Layer Cake;
Jennifer Esposito – Taxi and Spin City!

    Honourable Mentions:
Vanessa Marcil, Nikki Cox, and Molly Sims – Las Vegas
    Marg Helgenberger – CSI

  10. Ok, geez Kristina, Marilyn Monroe then lol. Just thought she didn’t need to be mentioned as it is the most obviouvest thing in the world ;)

Lol @ Reed. Yes I agree, Kirbykirb has a most.. unusual taste in women methinks.

  11. my top ten, in no particular order:

    1) Bo Derek in “10”
    2) Cameron Diaz “The Mask”
    3) Sharon Stone “Basic Instinct”
    4) Salma Hayek “Desperado”
    5) Demi Moore “Streaptease”
    6) Dina Meyer – Starship Troopers
    7) Megan Fox “Transformers”
    8) Glenn Close “Fatal Attraction”
    9) Susan Ward “The In Crowd” (good one Marla!)
    10) Scarlett Johansson “Lost in Translation” and “Match Point”

    There are several special mentions,
    – Liz Hurley in “bedazzled”,
    – Catherine ZJ in “Zorro”,
    – Thandie Newton in “MI2” and “Riddick” (wow),
    – Connie Nielsen in “The Devil’s Advocate” (excellent!)
    – Jessica Alba “Sin City”
    – Carla Guggino in “Sex City” !!!!!

    ….its an endless list…

By the way, Darren, the object of Kevin James´desire in Hitch is not Diane Krueger, although they look pretty similar, its Amber Valetta (simply gorgeous!!)

  12. Two people beat me to it, but Grace Kelly as Lisa Carol Fremont in Rear Window is unbeatable. I had to stop the DVD when she showed up because I was so stunned.

    The rest of my list:
Jessica Alba on a Conan O’Brien appearance (I know it’s cheating, but she was still probably acting!)
Natalie Portman as Alice in Closer
Naomi Watts as Betty Elms in Mulholland Dr. (part of it, anyway)
Jessica Biel in those Chuck and Larry commercials. My goodness.
Faye Dunnaway as Bonnie Parker in Bonnie and Clyde
Kate Hudson as Penny Lane in Almost Famous
Catherine Zeta-Jones as Marylin Rexroth in Intolerable Cruelty (kudos to Roger Deakins)

KirbyKirb, I’m a little concerned about you.

  13. For always and forever:

    Jane Fonda in Barbarella

My God the zero-gravity strip has to be the greatest scene in film history. I get a boner just thinking about it.

oh..and Monica Bellucci of course in …well, everything.

  14. Monica Belluci – Matrix (and any other time she is on screen.)
    Milla Jovovich – 5th Element
    Fairuza Balk – Waterboy
    Noami Watts – The Ring

  15. Sandra Bullock in “Demolition Man” especially the part where she wades through the fountain to hep Sly get out of police car, what lovely ass!

  16. Monica Vitti–Modesty Blaise. How could you miss that one? probably the sexiest, coolest female ever to go front of camera. See also L’Avventura, La Notte. Or Catherine Deneuve in Belle de Jour. Your contemporary Hollywood females are like glove puppets compared to these women.

  17. Sigourney Weaver – Aliens series
    Thandie Newton – MI2
Michele Pfiefer – as Catwoman (red lips, leathers, oh man)
Michele Yeo – Memoirs of a Geisha
    Catherine ZJ – Zorro 1
Salma Hayek – one of the Desperado movies, can’t remember which.
    Monica Belluci – Persephone
Reese Witherspoon – Vanity Fair (for guys who didn’t watch this, just watch it for the Indian dance will ya)
There used to be this HK actress called Chang Min, I dunno where the hell she went.. but hot in one of the Jet Li movies.
Selma Blair – in anything. she’s just hot for me.

Can I give a nod to Emille de ravin from LOST?

  18. I have to agree with TZ as hot as Pheobe Cates was in Fast Times (or Gremlins for that matter) nothing came closer to my pubescent heart than Oliva Hussey in Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet. She still has a special place in there.

Nicole Kidman in Mouline Rouge she made me a fan from that role.

Natile Portman in that SNL video with the shaved head telling every body to fuck off….come on.

Monica Belluci in everything she has ever done or will do.

Helena Bonham Carter in Planet of the apes. The only time I have every wanted to make it with an Ape.

  19. Shane, I thought for sure you’d mention Milla Jovovich before anyone else!!

    – Shannon Elizabeth – American Pie!!! SKEET SKEET SKEET SKEET etc…

(Shane – call me!) cheers brother

  20. – pheobe cates in fast times for sure!
    – michelle pfiefer made a fashion statement with spandex as catwoman long before trinity!
    – carla gugino in snake eyes, spy kids, the one, sin city!
    – salma hayek from dusk til dawn
    – monica bellucci in tears of the sun
    – sherilyn fenn in of mice and men

  21. Mine would be:

1 Milla Jovovich in Fifth Element
2 Jennifer Connelly in Requiem for A Dream
3 Natalie Portman in Garden State
    4 Zooey Deschanel in Elf
5 Uma Thurman in The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

I can’t think of anyone else who compares to those right now, certainly not anyone on John’s list.

  22. Agree with Marla Singer’s entry……..I know hotness is subjective, but I’ll take Angelina Jolie, Scarlett, Natalie Portman any day Sigourney Weaver…..

the one that I think has not been mentioned yet is Jessica Biel in I pronounce you Chuck and Larry…..I want to watch that movie, just for her…..

  23. I agree with everyone bringing up Salma in Dusk Till Dawn– she’s a Frazetta painting come to life in that movie. Just incredible.

Another smoking hottie is young Jane Fonda, especially in Walk on the Wild Side and Barbarella. I couldn’t care less about her later incarnations (Workout videos, Ughh!) but in those early years, she was a quintessential sexpot.

Also wanted to add Olivia Hussey in Romeo and Juliet. I watched that movie at school in junior high, and she totally blew my mind. Olivia became THE ideal girl in my imagination and stayed there for years. In fact, she’s still there.

I was going to comment on how weird I find some of the choices here, but what could be more subjective than desire.

  24. Here is my top 10 list

    1.Millia Jovoich: Ultraviolet
    2.Jennifer Lopez: Uturn
    3.Monica Bellucci: Irreversible
    4.Natalie Portman: Leon
    5.Amanda Bynes: She’s The Man
    6.Kirsten Dunst: The Virgin Suicides
7.Jennifer Connelly: Requiem for A Dream
    8.Eihi Shina: Audition
9.Rae Dawn Chong: Quest For Fire
10.Kate Winslet: Eternal SunShine of the spotless mind

  25. one other thing,
    – Megan Fox, Transformers, I felt like I was watching porn everytime she was on screen…uncommfortable and dirty, I couldn’t tell you if she was a good actress, I never really listened to what she was saying…I need a shower now…

  26. SOOOO many…

    – Lucy Lou, in Lucky Number Sleven – wow!
    – Grace Kelly in Rear Window – smokin sexy hot! WOW!
    – Kate Beckinsale – anything – Underworld, Serindipity – skeet skeet skeet
    – Virginia Madsen – Gotham – I discovered what erotic meant, speechless…
    – Jessica Alba – Dark Knight TV role, I know its TV not a movie, but DAMM…. I only watched that show because of her smokin hotness. again DAMM….
    – Cameron Diaz – something about Mary – Id marry her…her character

    SOOO many more…

  27. decent list. Some of my favorites:

    Fairuza Balk in “The Craft”
    Keira Knightley in “Domino”
    Monica Bulucci in “Matrix Reloaded”
Helena Bonham Carter in “Harry Potter: OotP”

  28. Joey: Joyce Hyser, I think her name is….but hey, Sherilyn Fenn was in that too, so it’s too bad we’re focusn’ on flicks because otherwise her Audrey Horne Cherry Twist would be up at the top of my list…

Kevin C; Diane Kruger, who I shoulda thought of…as the object of Kevin James’ desires in ‘Hitch’.

AND I KNEW I forgot somebody. Slp me upside the head and gimmie amnesia for a week, how on earth did I forget about Jenna Dewan as the lead role in the low budget horror ‘Tamara’! Shame, shame on me…!

  29. Elisha Cutbert: The Girl Next Door
    Elizabeth Hurley: Austin Powers
    Keira Knightley: POTC 1
Emmy Rossum: The Day After Tommorow
Jennifer Lopez: That one green dress she wore at the Oscars.
    Scarlett Johansen: The Island
Natalie Portman: Garden State (when she’s standing out in the rain)

  30. Jessica Alba in Sin City? Nice. Jessica Alba in Idle Hands? Lord Above I could cut diamonds with my dugan.

What about the chick from “Just one of the Guys” ??? Don’t remember her name but her fun bags were amazing.

Also, Cobra Kai Billy Zapka was in it… bonus

  31. Heres my top 10 list in no particular order

1 Julia Louise Dreyfus: National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
2 Uma Thurman: Kill Bill and The Avengers
    3 Kate Beckinsdale: Underworld
    4 Cameron Diaz: The Mask
    5 Gina Gershon: Bound
    6 Jessica Alba: Sin City
    7 Natalie Wood: Gypsy
    8 Julia Roberts: Erin Brokovich
9 Michelle Yeo: Tomorrow Never Dies
10 Denise Richards and Selma Blair: Wild Things

  32. Just becuase i’m a straight girl doesnt mean i cant appreciate how sexy women can be in the movies

I know this isnt a good way to start off a list but i thinking back to all the movies that Angelina Jolie has been in and i cant pick just one character to refer to becuase in my mind she is the ultimate goddess and is fox in every movie she’s in!

Natalie Portman as Alice the Stripper in Closer. Natalie Portman, love her as an actress, always saw her as a sweet girl… not in Closer. She was so hot as a stripper and definately showed her not so sweet side.

Keira Knightley In Pirates of the Caribean. gorgeous girl in my mind, and when she was introduced into the movie i couldnt stop asking “who is this newcomer with the long flowy hair and the corset and the accent. i just thought she was a good beauty to have in the movie.

I’d had a crush on Scarlett Johannson way before the Island but when i saw that movie, and i think a lot of you would agree, that even though the movie was not so hot, Scarlett Johanson definately was. Those big pouty lips on a character who hasnt been taught how to use them? COME ON! She’s such a babe, how can you deny her of sexual funness…its a good thing Jordan two delta (scarlett) ran away with Lincoln Six Echo (Ewan) from that clone cult so they could find out what they were missing.

I could say that Requiem for a Dream was the first movie that i had really seen adult Jennifer Connelly but it really was in A Beautiful Mind as Alicia Nash that she was most desirable. She was such a strong female lead, being such an understanding wife with a good rack to boot. She made me jealous that she got blessed with such good looks that are so undeniable. Skitzo or not, i’d have gotten a hard on with her in bed.

Reese Witherspoon as June Carter in Walk the Line, BECUASE she’s always been a pretty sexy woman as a blond but seeing her with dark hair immediately attracted me becuase it was seeing her just slightly different with a different hair color. and THEN when she was in bed with Johnny Cash, she had this sex kitten hair and she arched across him to get the phone in this little silk slip she was wearing… Very hot!

Charlize Theron. Thats a tough one…I’d say i think her character as Sara Deever in Sweet November was pretty sexy. Now for guys, i dont think a lot of you have seen this movie becuase it is a chick flick but i’m pointing out a character who is sexy in a non obvious way, she wore tons of layers and had her hair cut short but her energy and fun spirit and knowing that under all those layers she had a slamming body was really sexy.

    Monica Bulucci in the matrix
    Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman
Susan Ward in the in crowd
    Elizabeth Hurley in Bedazzled
    Shannon Elizabeth in American Pie

Thats all i have time for and i hope that my idea of
the hottest female characters are somewhat worth nods with you guys. The female character is just as important to me as the male character.

  33. Salma Hayek in “Desperado” & “From Dusk till Dawn”;
    Monica Bellucci in “Malena”;
    Raquel Welch in “One Million Years BC”;
    Phoebe Cates in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”;
    Famke Janssen in “GoldenEye”

  34. Are you all insane? You’re missing a clear Top-5 that’s not on John’s list… Liv Tyler, One Night at McCool’s

    Car Wash

    ’nuff said

I also loved Cameron Diaz in Something about Mary. A tall leggy chick that plays golf and loves football!?!? Too good to be true.

  35. Pheobe Cates in Fast Times.

I became a man in the summer of ’82 thanks to my dad who took me to see the single most intoxicating 20 seconds of celluloid ever presented on the big screen.

    Thank you, Dad.

And thank you Pheobe Cates and Pheobe Cates breasts… especially to the breasts.
Those 2 beautiful orbs showed me the door through which I entered puberty

  36. John Campea: “Oh James, “as Usual”. Does it make you somehow feel superior to use condescending language like that? I bet it does.”

Then that would be a bet you would lose John. If my perception of your lists is that they tend to favor more modern films, then I am entitled to form an OPINION from that perception, just as you are entitled to consider me a snob after one remark.

Sean: “Isn’t James the same guy who said your top 100 only had 4 movies that were older than 30 years when it actually had more than 23 that were over 30 years?”

    No, Sean, that wasn’t me.

EDIT: John, if you are going to delete this comment again, then please email me and explain why.

  37. In random order:

Ellen Barkin as Anne Osbourne in “The Big Easy”

    Jenny Wright from “Near Dark”

Cameron Diaz as Tina in “The Mask”

Carrie Anne Moss. I repeat…CARRIE ANNE MOSS as this strange gal nicknamed Trinity… The film, which shall not be named, practially made a fashion statement with ladies in tight, hot leather. Yeah. THAT FILM. See? I don’t even need to say it!

Signorney Weaver as Ellen Ripley. Both Alien and Aliens. For that matter, Alien Resurrection, too.

Kathleen Turner as Maddy Walker in ‘Body Heat’

Catherine Zeta Jones…as Elena In “Mask Of Zorro’.

Kim Yoon Jin as Myung Hyun in ‘Shiri’

  38. Hey Jarred,

No problems dude… but you can argue with someone without resorting to the name calling. Just don’t do it again k?

    Hey Sean:

    You said:

“Isn’t James the same guy who said your top 100 only had 4 movies that were older than 30 years when it actually had more than 23 that were over 30 years?”

Actually, I think that was someone else.

  39. Isn’t James the same guy who said your top 100 only had 4 movies that were older than 30 years when it actually had more than 23 that were over 30 years?

  40. Oh James, “as Usual”. Does it make you somehow feel superior to use condescending language like that? I bet it does.

Those are the roles I found the hottest. if you think other fit the bill for you better… fine. But do grow up.

  41. Main chick in ferris bueller’s day off. Scarlett in Pearl Earring and Keira Knightley in pride and prejudice. Denise Richards in wild things!

    aaah

  42. As usual, John’s movie knowledge base seems (mostly) stuck in the 90’s and on.

How about Jenny Wright from Near Dark?

Eva Marie Saint from North By Northwest?

    Jane Fonda in Barbarella?

  43. I don’t know about top ten but here are some worthwhile ones:

    Heather Graham – Roller Girl
Salma Hayek – Santanico Pandemonium (Best. Snakedance. Ever)
    Monica Belucci – Persephone
    Linda Carter – Wonder Woman
Jessica Biel – Erin (Texas Chainsaw remake, somehting about her in them jeans)
Anne Ramsey – Mama Fritelli (The Goonies (I love powerful women))
    Lori Petty – Tank Girl

  44. Wow, that’s a hot list! Overall, I’m pretty much in agreement. Courtney and Cameron remind me how horny I was as a kid, Halle and Kate are hot no matter what movie they’re in, and Megan Fox….dude, I had to see ‘Transformers’ a second time just for Megan fox. Liquid porno indeed.

  45. I agree with Rachel McAdams, she was gorgeous in the NOtebook and Ive paid attention to any movie shes in since then. She has such a “girl next door” thing about her.

I cant remember the name of this actress but she played Helen of Troy in “Troy” and she was the girl in “National Treasure” as well. She is pretty stunning.

  46. That’s a good list. Hepburn was definately a hottie, in her day.

    Here’s some more:

Pheobe Cates- Fast Times at Ridgemont High

    Elizabeth Hurley- Austin Powers

Jodie Foster- Inside Man (few can make business suits look so sexy)

Sigourney Weaver & Jennifer Love Hewitt- Hearbreakers (The sexiest mother/daughter combo I’ve ever seen)

Monica Bellucci- Malena (watching her walk down the street in this film is worth the price of admission alone)

Glenn Close- Fatal Attraction (horny & deranged, gotta love it…)

Demi Moore- Disclosure (horny & powerful, the perfect combo…)
