Hulk Smash News from movieweb!
Two-time Academy Award winner William Hurt (A History of Violence, The Good Shepherd) has joined the all-star cast of Marvel Studios’ The Incredible Hulk, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Zak Penn wrote the latest big-screen adventure of the green goliath, which Universal Pictures is distributing.
The movie, which Louis Leterrier is directing, sees Bruce Banner/Hulk on the run, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a monster. Hurt will play Gen. Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the man who has dedicated his life to capturing the Hulk — and who also is the father of Banner’s love interest, Betty Ross.
The Hulk cast is really shaping up to be …a hulk of a cast. William Hurt has won a multitude of awards and has been nominated for scads of them. Campea gushed over his performance in Mr. Brooks so much, that I have my suspicions that the two have become intimate.
I hated the first Hulk, but it looks like it may have been worth it, for no other reason than to bring us this version of the film. On paper this is shaping up to be fantastique! The story of the Hulk is straightforward and violent. It is through the maximum violence that the tragedy is revealed to us. Ang Lee tried too hard to focus on the tragedy, when he should of let it simply come as a byproduct of the frenzied path of destruction that the Hulk lays in his wake.
This is all great stuff. International friends are you starting to anticipate a new Hulk movie in a big way?
