The Transformers Movie website is now online…. and although I normally complain about putting up a website when there isn’t anything to see yet… THIS IS AMAZING!!! All that’s on the site is a single front page… some nice deep mood music, that FUCKING DECEPTICON EYE COMING OVER THE EARTH and a countdown clock.
But here’s the thing… at first glance I thought the countdown clock was for the release date of the movie… but as of right now the clock is at 26days 2hous… so what is it counting down to? A TRAILER!!!!
The countdown clock will run down to Wednesday July 5th. There doesn’t seem to be anything scheduled for release on that day… HOWEVER… Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest does open 2 days later. Here’s what I’m thinking… The first Transformers teaser trailer will go live on the web on the fifth, and the show in front of Pirates 2 days later. Holy crap I can’t wait that long!!!!!!

This is total speculation but in the world of Transformers would they not make Prime’s eye blue and Megatron’s red?
That may be oversimplifying things but I’m thnking about how you psychologically allocate certain colour schemes to ‘good’ and ‘evil’ characters.

I know people like Bay…I can’t see why, but I can accept it. But the island to me was just a rehash of The Rock and all the other films he’s done. The same look, the same style the same everything, he doesn’t bring anything new to the table.
He’s sort of like a Tony Scott in some ways. Now Tony has made some cool films, like True Romance and Man on Fire, but he’s never been able to elevate himself to the same level as his brother who truly is a genius. Tony has a tendency to repeat himself but at least he is a decent director, but Bay not only repeats himself, he never does anything orginal and just rehashes the same directorial ideas. Next time look at the explosions on his films. They’re the same angle, same lense, same color and same speed. All the time!!
To me he is just a poor man’s Spielberg. And even that is to much credit.
I’m sorry but I can’t bring myself to like the guy. I have guilty pleasures too, but Bay is just to guilty for me.
I hope The Transformers works out…but it’s Bay. So all I can say is, I hope he surprises me.
It could also be that this timer simply didnt have a YEAR value in the countdown. Its counting down to the release of the movie, for sure.
Likely, they didnt intend for the site to go live until after the 4th of July but sprang it early. (Since http://www.michaelbay.com has become the unofficial website for this movie)
Id love it if they would permit a download of the countdown timer. The release date is not only my birthday, but it will be when I turn 35. Signifying 20 years of me waiting for this movie.

I was in my local Comic Book shop today when I stumbled upon a Transfomers graphic novel. I flicked trough the pages and the comic was very dark and it reminded me of the new teaser poster the way it comes off as dark. Not only does this movie come off as dark but I’ve never been so excited about seeing a friggin eye ball in my whole life.
This has to be Megatron, with the whole ”Their War. Our World” and the eye lurking over the wholed in an evil fashion. But the eye is blue and not red so I might not be him, thats just a guess on the color of the eye. But then again if it was Prime the color of the metal would be blue and Megetron is a greyish color.
I think Bay is perfect. I loved The Island, jesus what a good movie and I really liked Bad Boys. I’ve only seen parts of Armageddon which were really good. And of course it’s Spielberg for the love of God!!!

I can see why you’d think that. I still think it’s still too “dark” and ominous for that… I think we’re getting a glimpse at Megatron. Look at the colour of the metal too.

Ehh… Not all that excited about this. Michael Bay is a real turn-off, especially for me, since I’m not all that big a Transformers fan to begin with. Spielberg producing means nothing. He’s produced some shit movies in his day. Now if he were directing…

We all know that Bay’s movies aren’t perfect, or good. But not only can he make good action flicks, but he can build an audience too!
Besides, for this movie, I think we’d all perfer mindless bitchin’ fights, action, and destruction instead of Ang Lee (director of Brokeback) turn Hulk into a drama-like movie.
Also, STEVEN F’N SPIELBERG is producing! And he CHOSE Michael Bay to direct! Say what you want about these two (like “I hate their movies”) but they have always got a good idea what gets our attention.
Let me put it like this: Michael Bay + Steven Spielberg x Transformers + A Good [Action] Script + Good Casting + KICK-ASS Special Effects = One big hype machine that could leas to a great movie or a crappy one. So far, all we can do now is say “PLEASE DON’T SUCK!”, and wait for updates.
As for the site, IT FUCKING FREAKED ME OUT. The poster was one thing, but that Eye beats the FUCK out of the Lord of the Rings!

I know people are excited about this movie…but remember people, this movie is directed by Michael Bay!! This is the guy who directed The Island, Armageddon, Bad boys I & II, and the worst movie since Heaven’s Gate, Pearl Harbor!! In fact Heaven’s Gate is way better than Pearl Harbor! In fact I’d rather sit with my eyes tied wide open watching ISHSTAR instead!!!!
I know everyone is excited…hey I was excited when this movie was announced!! But now those feelings are tempered because a mediocre director is attached to this project.
And Remember, Just because Spielberg is attached doesn’t offer any guarantees. I think he is Excecutive Producer, which in some instances means nothing more than just great financing!
So temper your excitement! This is Bay! Pearl Harbor!! Pearl Harbor!!! Remember Pearl Harbor!!!
