Connery Given Lifetime Achievement Award

Sean Connery was given The American Film Institute’s annual lifetime achievement award at a ceremony last night. It is the sinlge highest honor the film institute can bestow. Can you think of many guys who would deserve it more? The folks over at Yahoo News give us this:

Directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, and actors Harrison Ford, Andy Garcia and Mike Myers were among the stars who cheered on the legendary actor Thursday at the ceremony at the Kodak Theatre.

Myers wore a tuxedo jacket and a kilt to honor the Scottish actor. “Men want to be him, women want him, and in my case I both want to be him and want him,” Myers joked.

Just for fun, here are my all time favorite Connery Films:

1) The Highlander (The Original ONLY)
2) The Hunt For Red October
3) From Russia With Love
4) The Untouchables
5) The Rock (mock me all you want)

  1. I’d have to agree on one thing….believe it or not but I LOVED him in THE ROCK!!!!! LOL
that one scene with Nicholas Cage in the tunnel…OMG!!!!!! LMAO!!!!! love it every time I see it!!!!

  2. don’t let their mocking get you down John…the Rock kicked some serious ass…i never thought i’d see the day where Sean Connery and Michael Biehn were in the same movie, but i was proven wrong and it felt freaking great.

  3. Man, I hate Highlander. Very cool, this news.

    Top 5 Connery:
1 – From Russia With Love (that fight in the train is goddamn painful to watch)
    2 – The Untouchables
    3 – Marnie
    4 – Dr No
    5 – The Offense

He ruled in The Rock just because he was a TOTAL badass.

  4. My favorites:

    1. The Hunt for Red October
    2. The Name of the Rose
    3. The Man Who Would Be King
    4. Family Business
    5. The Wind and the Lion

“Highlander” was okay, but I think Clancy Brown (Victor Kruger) was the one who stole that movie.

“The Rock” was just lame. I mock you. :P

  5. If i am goign to rank my favs:

    1. Goldfinger(which represents all 6 of his Bonds)
    2. Indiana Jones and the LAst Crusade
    3. The Untouchables
    4. The Rock
    5. Highlander

  6. “Highlander” baby however, unlike you, I actually liked all the Highlander movies.

And where the heck is “Zardoz”???? Personally, this one of Connery’s most outstanding 1 1/2 on film. Totally bizare but oh…it works SOOOO well.
