  1. You know what? I think I’m more interested in seeing the outcome of the “Trial of Billy Zane” more than any other Uwe Boll “masterpiece” ever…. I really want you to keep us posted on how this plays out. And thanks for the input. I hadn’t thought about how hard it would be to prove damages resulting from the breach of contract.

Still, glad to hear that someone else out there thinks he at least deserved his day in court.

    Great podcast, as usual. :)

  2. Er, hope I’m not too late, any chance of bootlegging Dougs show & posting it up somewhere so the international friends who cannot attend tonight can listen too. If you get enough downloads maybe Doug can start charging, a nice little earner.

  3. Woah John, you let your dark side out there a little bit. Remind me never to attack your spelling or grammar. Best of luck to Doug for today.

  4. I still don’t agree with John that they should remake Battle Royale. I really don’t think somone can make it as well as the original. They should simply re-release the original and leave a good thing alone.

    Great show.

  5. I know how Uwe Boll get’s these big name stars to be in his films, HE SOLD HIS SOLD TO THE DEVIL!!!!! It’s the only logical reason for his continued distruction of movies.

  6. Battle Royale…oh who might be good?
Since it’s New Line, I’m going to take a wild, wild guess here.

I don’t know his stand on remakes, and his previous film, which was under NL didn’t do that well at the box office -and it was not a bad film, but actually a damn good one- “Running Scared” with Paul Walker and Johnny Messner. The director’s name is WAYNE KRAMER. He also helmed “The Cooler”.

If you seen either film-specifically ‘Running Scared-‘ I gotta tell you, he’d be high on the possibilities list. I hope New Line -who had a lot of guts (no pun intended) backing ‘Scared’ up, signs him on. It would be different, sure, but he doesn’t pull his punches. ‘Running Scared’ was nothing short of wild ass shit hits the fan- you get Kramer on board something like ‘Royale’ there will be no problems, I kid you not.

Not that the remake is really needed…but if New Line must…

    However

I do draw the line in the sand when you have “no problem” if Hollywood..er…Hollywood “studios”, excuse me, want to remake CLASSIC movies. If it isn’t broke why fix it?

‘Citizen Kane”, John? “Bridge On The River Kwai”?! Why stop there? Let’s add “Raging Bull” to the list! ‘Wizard Of Oz’! “2001”! “Jaws”! “Godfather 1 & 2”?? Just the other day you (and me, and a few others) bitched about Zombie’s possible take on ‘Halloween’!! What is it??Correct movie opinions seem to have just hauled butt and got tossed out of the window.

    Fine. So be it.
Let the “studios” pull crap like that. Then they”ll wine again about how the indie filmmakers kick thier asses at Oscar time, or how some pic the studio rejected comes back on the banners of a studio who rolled the dice. But, in all honesty, I don’t see studios going “that” far anyway.

Revenge Of The Ninja? Hmmm….maybe. But I’d much rather see an adap of The Haj or one of the other Ninja spy books by Eric Van Lustbader.

On a related note, I’d remake Blue Monkey.

    ***********

How does one pronounce Uwe Boll’s name?

    ‘You–ee Bowl-shit”

    That’s how. Question answered.

On the good side of this? Once this lawsuit is tossed out of court, only a true escaped person from the funny farm (no, not me) would give this director the time of day. Hey, he blames everyone else for his srewups? Answer: work with other people in dfferent genres. Prove the naysayers wrong. Sure it’s an uphill battle, but even Al Pyun can pull a rabbit out of a hat once in awhile.

    -Sealer should remake BloodRayne.
and make out with Kristina Loken….

  7. I love BR, one of the best films i ever seen, I wouldn’t mind watching a remake as long as see lindsey lohan, hilary duff, paris hilton, britney spears, and chris tucker getting their ass kicked and heads blown w/ a shotgun ;P

  8. Well, if we’re talking about movies we’d like to see remade, I think they should remake Henry V. That movies is awesome, Kenneth Branagh is great in it, but it lacked the budget to do a badass battle at Agincourt, which sets it back. The story is proven, and there does seem to be a market for medieval battle movies. Also, I do not think you would have trouble finding somebody to play Henry V as the part, of course as proven by time, is awesome.

Charles Hunk – Hmm. Interesting name indeed John.

  9. And about remakes, Never been against remakes. Loved The Ring and The Grudge. But remaking classics that everybody know(like psycho or Ben-Hur) is pointless.
What is so great about Psycho is the creepines you get with black and white, which is also why some of the old Univeral monstermovies is better than many of todays horrors.
I am not against a Battle Royale remake as long as they do it right, and manage to keep the intensity of the original.

  10. Ok – so I did comment on the Hollywood beast like you hate John, but in my heart of hearts I don’t think BR will translate well. If as mentioned, it’s going to be a PG13, which I think translates to a 15 in the UK, it will be another AvP. Fans of the original will be questioning the lack of intensity and newcomers will wonder what the fuss was about.

    We live in hope.
