Rumor: Marvel gains rights for Fantastic Four films in exchange for X-Men TV shows

There were reports yesterday that Marvel made a deal with Fox in which they would create a pair of X-Men based TV shows. One of the shows would deal with David Haller, a super powered schizo, and the Hellfire club. The Hellfire club is the more interesting of the two for me as it would take place in the 60’s and deal with their shenanigans as an rich elitest group whose interests are controlling the world from the shadows. The reason I dwell on the TV deal is because Marvel had to GIVE those rights to Fox. It wasn’t already included in their existing film deal. Despite the controversy on the web on how Marvel has been treating their mutant characters of late, the reason they would give them this deal is to regain their film rights for a Fantastic Four movie!

Within the past few hours, we’ve been handed some information that may explain how Fox and Marvel arrived at that deal.

According to our source, Fox were given the TV rights for X-Men in exchange for Fantastic Four. The deal’s been in the works for some time we’re told. Further, the timing of Marvel’s recent announcement of its movie slate leading up to the year 2020 and the X-Men TV series is no coincidence.

You may remember that there are currently three untitled films on Marvel’s schedule over the next five years. We’re told that one of those films is a Fantastic Four movie.

Additional rumors state that this also gives Marvel control over Doctor Doom, the Silver Surfer, and more!  Why would Marvel give Fox a further stranglehold on their mutants when it’s already causing so much controversy on the web? Because Fox is keeping those mutants in a vice grip since it’s the only characters they’ve proven successful and show no signs of relinquishing those rights for the foreseeable future. It makes sense that Fox would want to give up on the Fantastic Four just like they did Daredevil and Punisher since they can’t figure out how to make money with these guys.

The idea of a Fantastic Four in the Marvel Universe only means great things for Spider-Man. Seriously, no other character benefits from this as much as Spider-Man since the team is often portrayed as the closest thing he has as friends in the superhero community. Oh, and Black Panther too. He’s got a history with those characters as well.

I suggest that you treat this news as a rumor for now until Feige himself says otherwise but I’m already daydreaming about a Marvel Universe with the Fantastic Four fighting alongside the Avengers.
