I have vague memories of Perry Mason stories playing on television as re-runs as a child. Real vague. I just found out the Robert Downey Jr. is interested in re-introducing the character in feature film in which he would both help write and star.

Warner Bros and Robert Downey Jr are planning to re-launch the “Perry Mason” franchise as a feature film, with Downey in talks to star as the title defense attorney. The producers are currently looking for a writer, whose script will be based on an original story by Robert Downey Jr and David Gambino.
There are dozens of Perry Mason stories that can be told on the screen but I’m a bit apprehensive about the project. Wouldn’t this be better suited for TV? Maybe yes, maybe no. I’m more interested in the fact that he’s taking part in the writing for the movie. Aside from music his only other writing credit that I could find in film is with Iron Man 2. Sure he can ad-lib, but can he help churn out a complete flick?
