Obsessed With Film gives us this:
The Lords of Salem will begin shooting this spring and will be, once again, based on an original script by Zombie that’s adapted from his own song he wrote. Salem, notorious for its 17th century witch trials, is a familiar location for writers of horror. Zombie has embraced this history as the film sees the town coming under attack from a three hundred year old witch’s coven.
While I wasn’t a huge ‘Halloween’ remake fan; I do have small guilty pleasures in ‘Devil’s Rejects’ and ‘House Of 1000 Corpses’. Zombie can bring the mayhem, of this there is no debate. He will have final cut. He has full creative control. The film has been put together by Haunted Films, the company run by the Paranormal Activity team of Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Oren Peli.
I’m good with this. he other two films under Haunted’s label so far is James Wan’s promising Insidious, and Barry Levinson’s The Bay (which I don’t know is a good or bad thing- Levinson hasn’t directed horrors, let alone thrillers, I mean, you know, Diner, Rainman…Good Morning Vietnam?- but it is a nice start for the indie label.
Still, folks might be interested in what those two directors might be doing. Does anyone out there care about Zombie’s new project?
Someone does. How ’bout you?
