The Expendables will be hitting cinemas this week. Yet, there is already talk about a possible sequel. If the box office draw is good enough, we might just get that. The Expendables features a collection of past and present action stars as Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. It hits big screens on August 13, 2010.
Speaking to Filmbeat (via movie blog HeyUGuys), producer Avi Lerner claimed “We all want to do it, we are already working on it and I’m ready to go. Everyone had such a great time making this. I have done over 350 movies in my life and this is definitely the biggest.”
“We will wait until Monday and see what the numbers are like” explained Lerner. “But I am pretty confident right now that we will be back and work is already underway [on the sequel]. Why not? I know everyone in this would like to do another and I know I would.”
“We want to line up even more big names next time round and we are already thinking about who to ask.”
I’ll watch the film this week and review it. Knowing that they are willing to do another one if the draw is good enough, gets me more excited to watch this. I mean, if they do make a sequel, there’s two positive things to go with this decision: 1) make it better than the first one (learn from what the fans don’t like etc) 2) Get more names that should’ve been in this one. Like who?

Jean-Claude Van Dammn and Steven Seagal as Sylvester Stallone is well aware of hate one another. Which would make for a great fight seen in the movie. Here is my proposal to Sylvester Stallone on the matter; recruit both of them for the next movie and let the two of them have a seen together where they fight and may the best man win putting to bed all the B.S roomers. As you well know real fights are more appealing to your viewers, plus one problem solved with a waiver of rights of course signed by both of them. If Wong Fei Hung, Ip Man or Bruce Lee were still alive I can only imagine the amount of disdain that they would have for such intolerance and mockery that the two of them have brought to Martial Arts. The list of potentials that I would not mind seeing is as follows: Bolo Yeung, Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, (a small side note on Jackie is that he does not like to fight)Mark Dacascos, Don The Dragon Wilson, Michael Jai White, Chris Casamassa, Ray Park, Ernie Reyes Jr, Chuck Norris, Tony Jaa, Chow Yun-Fat, Billy Blanks, Michelle Yeoh, Cynthia Rothrock, There are many others that I could list here that are just as good as the people listed above but It would be almost imposable to have all of them in one movie. Although I know that Sylvester Stallone will not have both Jean-Claude Van Dammn and Steven Seagal fight it out on the big screen it was worth mentioning for a laugh. What I will say to Sylvester Stallone keep up the good work, be mindful, respectful of who you have in your films and respect the Martial Arts. Good luck….

I’m a huge seagal fan but he’s to out of shape.maybe if sly gave him hgh and made him lose 40 lbs then ok but my problem is what role would seagal play a drug lord an ex team mate ?he would have to play a role where he’s not doing a lot of action. Clint eastwood… I instantly thought of him playing an army general perfect for the expendables universe.the rock is my idol but again what role would he play maybe the head of a special forces group taking orders from eastwood he pulled it off in doom even tho it was not that good..if this movie is going to have more stars in it then the first one there has to be enough factions to support them all. Example the expendables vs the us military or CIA and then throw in the drug lord or evil dictator faction. With more people you need more groups for them to belong to..seagal can’t play an army Guy or a good Guy he has to be bad. Eastwood is perfect for an army leader. Can’t wait to see this one. Being someone who grew up in the 80-90’s, watching 80-90’s action flick, and still a die hard action film fan today, this movie is like an amazing dream come true.

Nice list but shame on you for leaving out Jackie Chan. We all need a Jackie VS Jet Li fight that is not fantasy based and without strings. I will also throw in Donnie Yen for just pure hand to hand fighting.

I’m gonna go on a limb here and say that there are two badass women missing from that lineup. Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock. Mind you they really took off in Asia before being known here but I’d really like to see them in something like this.
