Aaron Johnson is NOT Cylcops in X-Men First Class

While it looked like the cast of X-Men First Class was a lock down, it appears that their stalwart field leader Cyclops is still not cast.

I know, we had been told Aaron Johnson of Kick-Ass would be putting on the ruby glasses, but it seems that just isn’t true at all.

ScreenRant quotes producer Tarquin Pack:

The thought of a proper onscreen version of Cyclops has been a titillating hook for X-Men: First Class – however, according to Pack, it won’t be Johnson who attempts to do the character justice: “…Don’t believe everything you read in the papers about Aaron, unfortunately. Aaron’s kind of busy, yeah.”

Despite this being more about Magneto and Professor X, I would think that a strong solid choice for Cyclops is very important.

Cyclops was under used in the first three films (non existant in the third) and didn’t really play to the strengths of the man who was selected to LEAD the X-Men. With a young class of students I think its more important than ever to have a role that shows why he stood out and deserves that title.

And for those keeping score, the verified cast of First Class so far is:

James McAvoy – Professor X
Michael Fassbender – Magneto
Kevin Bacon – Undisclosed villain
Rosamund Pike – Moira MacTaggert
Alice Eve – Emma Frost
Nicholas Hoult – Beast
Caleb Landry Jones – Banshee
Lucas Till – Havok
Jennifer Lawrence – Mystique
Edi Gathegi – Darwin

And this means if Aaron Johnson isn’t playing Cyclops, then they will be in a big hurry to cast him, as filming starts next month!

    1. Tim Pocock’s role in that film was a glorified cameo. Perhaps they felt he didnt have the presence or ability to pull off a leader.

In Origins all he had to do was run, and stumble with a blind fold on. Wasn’t a big role.

He hasn’t done much since then either. Some dance TV show.

      1. Boy…that makes me wish they would have had the foresight to put someone in role they had confidence in from the get-go. Continuity errors in this franchise are starting to really bug me.
