“The Miz gave me a WrestleMania moment,” Wilson said. “He came up to me and said, ‘I’m your mentor, so let me show you how to make a WrestleMania moment.’”

“The curses aren’t lasting long,” he said. “Long term, he’s not affecting me.”

“It was a mindset shift,” he said. “Now I’m doing it for myself and for Elton.”

“If he comes back, we’ll have something stronger,” Wilson said.

At the same time, he has his eyes on championship gold.

“I’m feeling good, and I’m looking for gold,” he added.

Still a Tag Team Star at Heart

Even as he explores singles competition, Wilson made it clear where his foundation lies.

“I’m a tag team guy. I bleed tag team,” he said. “I’m Pretty Deadly.”

That said, he has discovered a new level of confidence.

“I didn’t realize how good I was at singles,” he said. “I can do both because I’m that good.”
