FROM Season 4 Interview: Talking Elgin with Nathan D. Simmons

FROMily, we had to do it. With Season 4 officially kicking off, I sat down with Nathan D. Simmons, aka Elgin himself, for a live conversation breaking down everything up through Episode 1. And I’m going to be honest with you, this was not one of those surface-level interviews.

This was one of those “yeah, we need to talk about this character” conversations.

Elgin Is Not the Same Character Anymore

One thing became clear real quick. Elgin is in a very different place now. When we last checked in on him, there was still some debate. Was he being guided? Was he chosen? Was he onto something? Now, we are looking at a character who has to live with the consequences of what he believed. And instead of dancing around that, Nathan leaned into it.

We talked a lot about how Elgin sees himself right now, and whether he still believes he was trying to help. That is where things got interesting, because the answer is not as simple as saying he was just wrong. It feels more like Elgin may have believed he was right for all the wrong reasons.

The Psychology of Elgin Hits Different Now

What I appreciated most about this conversation is that we did not just stay in plot mode. We really got into the psychology of Elgin. Is he naive? Manipulated? Lonely? Or is he somebody who needed to feel like he mattered and grabbed onto the first thing that gave him purpose? That is where FROM gets dangerous.

Because this show has been quietly showing us that the town does not just break people physically. It gets in their heads. It finds what they need and twists it. And when we asked Nathan how he approaches Elgin now, you can feel that shift. This is not just fear anymore. There is guilt, isolation, and a real question of whether Elgin can even trust his own mind at this point.

Why You May Want to Rewatch Episode 1

Without getting too deep into spoilers, one thing we both agreed on is this: Episode 1 might hit differently on a rewatch. There are moments, reactions, and small details that do not scream for your attention, but they sit there. And in a show like FROM, that usually means something. Pay attention to how people react to Elgin, what gets said and what does not, and the moments that feel just a little off. That is usually where the show is hiding something.

What made this interview hit is that it felt like a real FROMily conversation. Not just “here is what happens next,” but “how do we feel about this character now?” Nathan brought a thoughtful perspective to Elgin, and you can tell he understands why fans are so divided on him right now. Because let’s be real, some people think Elgin is a victim. Some people think he is a problem. And some of you are still holding onto the idea that he might be the key to something bigger. And honestly, after this conversation, I do not think that debate is going anywhere.

Final Thoughts

Season 4 is already setting a tone, and Elgin is right in the middle of it. This conversation with Nathan D. Simmons did not give us answers in the traditional sense, but it gave us something better. It gave us perspective. And with a show like FROM, that might be the most valuable thing you can  get. Because the more you understand the characters, the closer you might get to understanding the town. If you watched the interview, let me know: do you think Elgin was trying to help, or do you think he made everything worse?
