Paranormal Activity 2 Trailer

The first Paranormal Activity had a budget of $15,000. In the end, it made around $193 million worldwide (that includes almost $108 million domestic). So everyone knew what was bound to happen. Yup, a sequel. So here’s the first official trailer for Paranormal Activity 2. Enjoy…

I went to see the first one alone. It was a pretty fun experience. I mean, the movie isn’t that horrible. It was ok. I’ve always been intrigued by “found footage” films. One of my favorites on that genre is Cloverfield. But since this is horror, I still think it was just ok. There were some scares, but the film dragged too much on some spots. The acting wasn’t half bad either. So am I excited for PA2? Not that much. I’ll probably see it and write about it, but I’m not that into it this time around. For me, since their doing it again, the originality and shock factor are gone.

I do like the camera angles and setup for the new one in this trailer (which by the way, is a teaser!). I like that this time around they have a pool, a dog and a baby – this will make up for some new scares. Plus the tension should be different using these devices – it’ll be higher I bet. I’ll probably watch this, but not that excited.

What about you guys?

  1. Sequels to horror movies…..I’m struggling to think of a good one.
The thing that’s scary about horror is the threat of the unknown. Once the threat has been revealed, there is very little to be scared of.

I bet this film is bloodier and more action-packed than the original, but I doubt it’ll be scarier.

  2. I think most people agree that showing a baby in mortal danger ramps up the tension in a scene. Same thing goes for a dog. But having both in the same room? I think it maybe a little much. Seems to be one of those where the whole is less than the sum of its parts.

  3. Exactly how I felt Francisco about the first one. I dont really like these types of films except for Cloverfield. here were some cool moments (few and far between) but the crowd i seen it with seemed to be a bunch of 13 year old females. screaming when a bed sheet moves? come on ladies your ruining the film experiance.

  4. Saw the first one at a screening, gotta say it’s not for me, and people seem to just be screaming for the sake of screaming, just to have a lil fun with the movie.
