Joan Cusack and John Goodman Join Shopaholic

Looks like that new estrogen-centric film “Confessions of a Shopaholic” have just rounded out their cast with John Goodman and Joan Cusack. The folks over at Variety give us this:

Isla Fisher has already boarded the comedy as the star. Film is based on the bestselling Sophie Kinsella novel, which centers on a woman who must deal with the stresses of mounting credit card debt while trying to navigate the New York magazine world. Goodman and Cusack will play the parents of Fisher’s character.

I like John Goodman as a personality… but honestly have never thought he was that good of an actor (his best performance oddly enough is in that horrible movie “Coyote Ugly”). Joan Cusack is pure money in anything she’s in, I just think she’s one of the most underrated character actresses in the business today.

But ultimately I don’t have a lot of hope for this film… mostly because of the lead. I was totally smitten with Isla Ficher after seeing Wedding Crashers, but I haven’t been impressed at all with her in anything I’ve seen her in since. She had a real opportunity to shine in “Definitely Maybe”, but totally blew it in my opinion.
