Isla Fisher Is The Shopaholic

Isla-Fisher-ShopaholicA little while ago we talked about the green light being given to a movie adaptation of the insanely popular “Confessions of a Shopaholic” book series. Well, we got more info… and from what I understand it seems to fit. Seems that Wedding Crasher red headed hottie Isla Fisher has snagged up the lead (and very coveted) role for the film that is sure to be a franchise of films.

The good folks over at comingsoon give us this:

Isla Fisher (Hot Rod, Wedding Crashers) will star in The Secret Dream World of a Shopaholic, an adaptation of the bestselling novel “Confessions of a Shopaholic” by Sophie Kinsella to be directed by P.J. Hogan and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Filming is scheduled to begin this November in New York.

I like this move. Even in the midst of her total lunacy in Wedding Crashers, you could always tell Fisher was leading lady material. She has just a beautiful way of carrying herself and her characters. She’s not subtle, but she just commands your attention when she’s on screen… and somehow she really makes that work for her.

  1. I think this is a great casting move. She’s not someone that came to mind immediately but I can totally see her bringing Becky to life. Now I’m curious about the casting of the stud. Luke is a big chunk of all the books and they’ll have to find the right fit of handsome, polished and either English or capable of a good accent. Should be interesting.

  2. I think she’s a stunning lady, but can she carry a movie? I don’t know, but everyone starts out supporting someone else before the big break comes. Don’t blow it, Isla!

And don’t pull a Lohan and dye your signature hair another color, either. Seen one blonde, seen ’em all.

  3. ew! the bitch cannot act. even when she was on cheesy aussie soaps. can you north american moviebloggers explain why you are so taken with this creature?!? she has one of the most annoying voices to boot on top of the lack of acting chops. ask any aussie or brit (minus Baron Cohen).
