An internet only version of the Clerks 2 trailer has hit the web. I remember when Clerks 2 was first announced… there was some pretty strong reactions from both sides. On the one extreme were the people who think Kevin Smith can do no wrong. On the other extreme were those who think Smith can do no right… and a few opinions in between. Personally, I like to give Smith the benefit of the doubt when it comes to his films.
Having said that, the Clerks 2 trailer didn’t really do anything for me. Although it’s true that I’ve never seen Rosario Dawson look more beautiful than she does here, nothing made me giggle… at all. Now, take that with the grain of salt that it is JUST a trailer. I find Smith’s humor works best when absorbed in his films rather than in a quick “smack you in the face” style which is more suited to trailers.

Reckon it’ll probably be fairly good but nothing compared to his earlier films theres only so many geek star wars and comic book jokes that most people can take. All his hardcore fans will love it irrespective of how good it is anyway.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was a movie for fans of Kevin Smith, it was not meant for anyone else, lol, and it had Wil Ferrel in it!!!!
Why you accuse this of being a remake is beyond me, it’s a continuation of characters, a furtherance of an existing story…call me crazy but sounds like a sequel to me.
and no, talking about Star Wars is not a joke, but witty dialogue does amuse the more intelligent movie goers, Kevin Smith rocks the dialogue, he has to, he’s not the greatest director, lol.

I really hated Jersey Girl and Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back is an example of everything that he can do wrong. Self-indulgent cameo and reference fests. Watching JASBSB again, it’s hard to find any actual jokes. Having someone talk about Star Wars is NOT a joke. Having someone say a line from another movie is NOT a joke. I like some of his movies but I’m not bothered about this one. It’s a remake disguised as a sequel. It’s a movie as stand-up comedy, again.

Really, the first 10 seconds of that trailer gave me that feeling you get when you see a friend that you havent seen in sometime, just Jay and Bob standing there and I was completely ready to hand over my 10 bucks. Whether or not it will be good is another question entirely, Im just saying Im good to go.
and man do I love me some My Name is Earl, Jason Lee rocks, so this movie has all the makings, hopefully the story is good, which being Kevin Smith it should be.

Not too thrilled, maybe a dvd rental.
