Dragonball Evolution Trailer Online

Because it came out a day or two ago, and we got a few emails and comments letting us know about it, I thought I would throw this up here.

The New International Dragonball Evolution Trailer

I actually don’t mind it. Yeah, all the Dragonball Nazis will be out in force telling you how this is nothing like the cartoon, but I don’t recall there being a Dragonball Evolution cartoon.

Its an adatpation, so things will be different. Different canon and different characters. Personally I think Bulma looks hot, especially channeling Lara Croft. There is some cheese wire work, but it isn’t terrible.

I might even pay attention to news about this now.

  1. I hate Dragonball?

Sorry Kraken, you really need to watch my posts and learn to read. I have never once said I hate Dragonball.

I don’t like the show, it just doesn’t interest me. The movie looks like it might not be terrible.

Kiss up to Fox? When was this again? When have I ever on this site given favouritism to a studio??

I delete your posts where you are making assumptions about my character and calling me names. Troll behaviour is not tolerated here. Also, the spam filter often deletes posts with links in them.

So exhale and wait. I am sure no matter how the movie turns out you will hate it anyways. You are just upset that I won’t join you in your pessimism.

The movie might suck, but we wont know that until it comes out.

  2. Anyhow, I guess it’ll be best now if we will just sit back silently and watch how this will bomb. Then we don’t have to worry about who’s which and such.

  3. @Duca
    No, it’s a content issue
This Rodney guy just likes to delete any posts that point out how much he hates Dragonball to the point he has to kiss up to Fox

  4. Is there a particular reason why my last post was deleted? I don’t believe I said anything offensive in it but rather clarified my original points. Was it a length issue?

  5. Pissdeof…

“So lets just make it something it is not just to satisfy the needs of people who think the cartoon is silly.”

First off… they are not “making it something that its not”… they are adapting. Making appropriate changes for the change in media.
Secondly… YES, they do need to satisfy the “needs” of people who think the cartoon is silly. Because like it or not, the show was silly. It was aimed at children. The movie is not. The movie is aimed at the teenagers who watched this when they were children.

You keep making assumptions that I don’t understand.

Transformers was dear to me and a big part of my childhood, yet I STILL found the ability to be amused and entertained by the movie adaptation. They made some changes. They had to. The movie would have been ridiculous if it was EXACTLY like the cartoon.

I dont have to be a fan to appreciate what kind of movie this looks to be shaping up into. Frankly, I would give this half a chance. Of the 5 or 6 episodes of the cartoon I have witnessed, I could tell you I wouldnt want to see ANY of that.

You are the model drooling fanboy that the studios could care less about because they KNOW that you could never be happy. If they did a word for word translation, you would cry that it wasnt adapted.

Im done watching you moan. You fail to make any point that can justify why you hate this aside from choosing to hate it.

Then dont see it. Your call. But don’t act like everyone else has to hate it too.

  6. “Again, I don’t see why people see this as “Butchering” just because it isnt the same.”

I can explain this, like I have before…….. You are not a DB fan. You can not see it from my perspective because you have not seen ALL the episodes and know everything about DB inside out like I do. In short you do not appreciate DB as a DB fan would.

“I for one think that the changes were required to even make it half worth watching. The cartoon is ridiculous and is aimed at 10 year olds. A live action film of that would be retarded.”

So lets just make it something it is not just to satisfy the needs of people who think the cartoon is silly.

Dude, atleast have some sympathy for the fans instead of treating us like kids. and your comments that the cartoon is ‘retarded’ adds more to the insult.
It’s ok for you to say the cartoon is ‘retarded’ but fans can’t say they ‘raped’ the franchise because it’s an insult to the people making the movie? Double standards.

“I agree Brandon… which is exactly what I am saying. Its still the same story with some changes to make it less silly and childish like the cartoon.”

^^^ This sentence here tells me you know nothing about dragonball. There is more to the series than just collecting dragonballs. It’s just some joke cartoon to you. Fair enough. You just don’t really care about it as much as a fan would.

As for profit crap, I know that’s how the world works. Profit. But I already explained to you what perspective I’m lookin at it from but you act as if I’ve ignored the fact that these movies are produced for $$$. So what? Does that excuse it for being the piece of crap it is? IMO, NO.
DB may not be art to you but it is to others. You have your own definition of what ART and RAPE are but believe it or not, not everyone has the exact same meaning for words as you.

  7. @peadoff Dude I don’t care about all that crap. Marketing, bringing in new fans, profit etc”

Well therein lies your problem. It is a simple reality in Hollywood that the motivation behind ANY film is profit. Sorry you overlooked this.

The “art of a film” is for independant film makers not trying to get into wide release or distribution. Making a movie about a popular cartoon and manga is hardly the groundwork for an art film.

Again, I don’t see why people see this as “Butchering” just because it isnt the same. I for one think that the changes were required to even make it half worth watching. The cartoon is ridiculous and is aimed at 10 year olds. A live action film of that would be retarded.

You don’t know it will be bad. You assume. You can’t know it will be bad without seeing it and all we have so far is trailers. I saw the Trailer for Bolt and thought it looked crappy and I ended up loving it. Trailers are just PR, and perhaps that is failing for you, but that is not the whole movie.

I hope (as with any film) that it is good. The film may not be good, but if it is – then it will be so on its own merit and not because they changed something from that childish cartoon.

  8. “The point of any film adaptation is to create NEW fans. Were they worried about Spiderman fans when they made the movies? No.

They made a movie that they thought would have broad appeal. To bring in MORE fans. People who like the movie will be more encouraged to seek out the material from where it came.

Lord of the Rings caused an increase in the sale of the novels. Spiderman caused an increase in the sales of the comic book. The Eragon movie increased the sales of the novels and made it possible for him to write more.

Doesn’t mean it will automatically be good, but expanding the franchise with an adaptation to film is for profit. The choices they make are in order to make profit. And appeal to people who were not already drawn to the franchise in hopes that it will bridge the distance and bring in more fans.”

^^^ Dude I don’t care about all that crap. Marketing, bringing in new fans, profit etc.

I’m purely lookin at this from a DB fan perspective. The business side may be interesting to movies buffs like you but it doesn’t register with me.

“Peadoff, I don’t care about its “raping” because its an innappropriate use of the word.

Rape is when you sexually assault or violate someone without their permission. The owners of the franchise are fully behind this movie and approve of it. Its not rape. ”

Sorry if I offended you with innappropiatly using the word “rape” to describe how they butchered dragonball but I couldn’t think of a better word to describe what has happened to the movie adaptation of a franchise I love.

    Enjoy the movie man.

  9. I agree Brandon… which is exactly what I am saying. Its still the same story with some changes to make it less silly and childish like the cartoon.

They didnt make Goku much different that people can say the character is wrong. So far the lack of a tail is all I see that is different. Otherwise the core spirit of the story remains.

Aliens come to earth, one of their own seeks out the Dragonballs to save the planet. Nothing that drastic that didnt HAVE to be changed really.

  10. If they can make a film about talking cars that transforms into robots, they can make dragon ball, the right way.ever seen the movie 300? when the boy was training out in the wilderness and he had to fight the wolf?slap on some untamed hair and a tail, what have you got?kid goku from dragon ball.u know what im sayin? it takes vision.I understand adapting, transformers had to adapt, but optimus prime was still a semi truck, that didn’t change.”adaption” has limits, would spider man still be spider man if he was a gay guy from thialand?do you call that an adaption?

  11. The point of any film adaptation is to create NEW fans.

And appeal to people who were not already drawn to the franchise in hopes that it will bridge the distance and bring in more fans.

  12. Peadoff, I don’t care about its “raping” because its an innappropriate use of the word.

Rape is when you sexually assault or violate someone without their permission. The owners of the franchise are fully behind this movie and approve of it. Its not rape.

People like to attach the negative connotations of the word to express their displeasure with the needed changes. Its a desperate attempt to label the makers of this film as evil instead of accepting that it is their OWN preferences that are what is making the film unacceptable.

  13. Just read all the comments.

    Rodney

You say so yourself that the show is ridiculous and silly? That’s why you don’t care about its raping.

You do not and will not understand where DB fans are coming from because we love DB and you don’t.

Movie might be good. That’s not the problem. My problem is the movie is not dragonball. Adaptation you say? Well that’s not good enough for me. It upsets me and it is something I have to deal with. But don’t get mad at fans for being upset at this trailer.

This trailer pisses me off big time. I will not ignore my emotions because there are people who think the movie might be fun. Go and enjoy it I don’t care. I’m not gonna give people a hard time because they like this movie. But don’t get angry at the REAL fans because they want to vent their frustrations. From what I’ve read the anger is directed at the movie, not people who want to watch it.

  14. As a dragonball fan how could you not be dissapointed? As for your dragonball nazi comment, if this movie is not for the fans then why bother making such crap? The fans have every right to pissed off about this. Lets take something your really into and totally rape it. To me that’s what they’ve done with this movie.

  15. holy crap there’s alot of comments about this, I wasn’t aware this all was such a big deal. I think it will be worth watching at least once but not realy spectacular or anything.

  16. Yes, because the REAL art would be to copy word for word and image for image like some cheap cosplayers KNOWING it would fail for being so ridiculous.

That’s what they really should have done. Why didn’t I think of that??

Adaptation worked out so poorly for Transformers, and that movie made so little money and so few people bought the dvd. It would have been MUCH better if they copied the campy 80s cartoon.

What were they thinking trying to adapt this instead of just copying this silly baby fluff.

Madmen! Rapists! Fuck them all to hell!

  17. People who support this outrageous rape are the real culprits.

Just do it how it is. Forget the $$$ for a second and think about the art.
If certain morons don’t like it then fuck them you did your best, at least it was 100%. Adaptation is the devil’s instrument and those who admire it think they’re real smart and unique, but they are going straight to hell.

  18. First off Duca. I hate nothing.

Secondly, the Dragonball (cartoon) source material is aimed at children and is really not intended to amuse beyond the use of bright colours and over exaggerated reactions for comedy.

I don’t care if it is popular in Japan. Carrots are popular on dinner plates, that doesn’t mean I have to like them.

The show is silly and utterly ridiculous. There is NOTHING about that show that would translate to live action well enough to convince me to see the movie. Granted I am still not 100% sold on it, but it looks like it might be a fun movie.

Your friend’s analogy aside, this movie is still clinging to the bare core of the show. A movie about martial arts mastery, alien invaders craving power, and mythical dragonballs that can save the world. So it DOES have the basis of what made the series popular.

But if you simply reproduced the vegetable inspired badguys and the hokey retarded supporting cast with the impossible manga hair to make a movie? Dumb.

At least this adaptation will have the core heart of what is popular about the series and may find itself an audience that never would have looked at the childrens cartoon.

Lastly, I find it interesting that you can compare this to Bulletproof Monk (which I could do without but didnt hate) and say you LOVED that movie and then by the same comparison say you would rent it at best?

  19. Wow Rodney, based on your comments you have a real hate on for Dragonball Z. Why do you hate the source material so much? What’s wrong with having a kid show have talking animals? And the charactors names are a play on words that started in the original manga. A manga meant for 10 year olds. As the fans of the series grew up, the manga grew up eventually becoming Dragonball Z. The series is EXTREMELY popular in Japan. It’s no longer airing on American television but it did pave the way for anime as a genre to become accepted by the West. Now we can watch such great shows as Naruto, Bleach, Eureka 7, Samurai Champloo and Full Metal Alchemist unedited on American tv because of DBZ. It may not be Evangelion but it holds a special place in a lot of anime fans hearts because of what it started. Just because it’s not your cup of tea is no reason to treat the fans of it like retards (although many do often act that way)

Can one not argue that once a certain amount of changes have been made it stops being based on that source material and becomes something else.

My friend uses this analogy: What’s a clown without a funny wig? A clown. Now take away it’s nose. It’s still a clown. It’s make up. Yup, still a clown. Now how about it’s outfit? Then what do you have? A really bad comedian. When you remove enough elements from something it stops being that thing. You change the clowns make up, make him edgier, give him a funnier outfit and he’s still a clown, but if you take away all the things that define it as a clown it no longer is one.

As I’ve said before it might end up being a perfectly fine movie along lines of Bulletproof Munk (which I actually loved and own, cheesie martial arts fun). But that does not mean that it will be a good adaptation. This one will deffiantely be a renter for me.

  20. @Steve, its an adaptation of the Cartoon which was loosely based on folk lore legends from China combined with new elements.

So yeah, its been done before.

So has every other idea EVER. So what is the point? You can narrow down the plot of nearly any adventure film to read “good guy saves the world from bad guy” and that makes them all cliche according to your rules.

Fortunately some movie patrons can enjoy a movie without having to over dissect it or deconstruct it to the point of non-recognition.

You don’ t know this will fail. The fanboys make up a small portion of their target audience. They hope to gather fans of action adventure fantasy genres in general to come see this regardless of whether they saw the silly cartoon or manga before it.

  21. I am sorry that you feel that the definition of the word ADAPT is something to hide behind.

If they made this movie exactly like the cartoon it would have been utterly ridiculous and all 3 of the fans that think it would look good in person might have seen it.

Just LOOK at the source material and imagine what that might have looked like in real life. Total nonsense. They had to adapt so that it would appeal to more than 4 year olds.

  22. I feel like this whole adaptation nonsense is just an excuse to hide behind for making a load of crap. There is no reason they couldnt have just made an accurate movie based on the series. The series was one of the most powerful waves to ever hit American pop culture and sucked thousands of kids into a life of cat ears and DDR. They couldve banked off of it.

  23. This movie looks so cliche from the title to the plot.
They add the word evolution, which has been used so many times before, and is totally unnecessary. The plot is bad guys come, and the “chosen one” has to save the world. Thats been done a million times before. Albeit that is kind of what the cartoon was about too… but why didn’t they take the ‘cliche’ story that people like and put it as best they can on the big screen. Why do they have to take so many liberties, and make so many wrong decisions, just to end up making the same tired old crap that people have seen a million times before. But if you think they are trying to make it more commercial, why do they have bad fighting scenes, a cheesy legend of seven mystics, and a overdone scene of an explosion with the dust charging at the camera.

The fact is, if they kept it close to the original story and failed, some people would still love it for being what they loved. But this movie looks like they didn’t even try to kepp it close to the cartoon, and they didn’t try to make it unique, or interesting. It looks like just another box office bomb that wont appeal to “fanboys: or other audiences either. Its going to fail, there won’t be a sequel and then the only memories will of a much anticipated live-action movie, will have to be this crap.

  24. This movie just looks bad. I’m not even Dragonball fan, and I think it looks like crap. Maybe we should be listening to the fans. This has the makings of an Uwe Boll picture, where it’s bad on its own merits.

  25. HaHaHa! This looks like pure ass. I could care less about the cartoons although the fight scenes look more realistic in that than they do in this movie. It actually looks like a bad Hong Kong Sci-fi flick ala Avenging Fist. Non fighters doing horribly choreographed fighting in slo-mo just never works. I’ll give them one thing Bulma looks very nice. She might get me to watch a bootleg version.

  26. @AndyS “How the hell does my belief that this particular franchise cannot be done justice in live action on the big screen have anything to do the cure for cancer?”

If you bothered to read my comment you would see that I wasn’t asking you to cure cancer. Your logic is that they should have stayed away from this rather than put out a movie you dont like (which you dont know you wont like yet)

They saw a fanbase who loved a show. They thought, “hey… if people like that, maybe its got a good story and would be worthy of attention” so they adapt it to the big screen. Obviously changes had to be put in place so it didnt turn out to be a ridiculous shitpile with silly characters fighting vegetable aliens with talking sidekick animals.

God forbid they should make an effort because YOU don’t like it. Fanboys are the minority in any feature film consideration. They want the general market to be able to see this and enjoy it.

Might still suck. Didn’t say it wouldnt. But why FORCE yourself to hate it when it might not be half bad.

  27. Have you noticed since the Southpark episode with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the word raping it get thrown around a lot more when talking about adaptations, remakes and sequels?

  28. Fanboys wouldnt be so pissed if some of the changes were actually for the better… look at the dark knight, many changes like the joker, but nobody bitches cause the changes were actually for the better.
If u got the balls to change it, it better damn well show why.
It just doesnt… (although taking out the talking animals is an obvious plus)

  29. This looks goofy, it’s for freakin’ kids, it’s too friendly, should be rated R and with gushing blood. It’s just another friendly movie like INDY 4, Transformers and shit like that.

I agree with spiderfreak182, I’m a fan and I’m more interested in seeing Vegeta, Freeza, Trunks, Super Sayan Goku and all that crap than the beginning of Dragonball. If this movie doesn’t make tons of cash then I won’t see that. It can suck like Transformers but I hope while sucking it’ll bring in some dough along so they’d consider making a sequel.

  30. How the hell does my belief that this particular franchise cannot be done justice in live action on the big screen have anything to do the cure for cancer?

With your same logic I guess I should jump off a 100 foot building since if I don’t I’m just a quitter in your book.

  31. As much poison I’ve spewed over the last few month because of this film I have to say that the trailer looks way better than I expected, especially after the shit balls we’ve been hit with in the past.
That said it does not mean that the film will be good, it only means that they have at least a few pretty scenes to look at.

I’m guessing the filmmakers ran in to the same stumble block the filmmakers of Double Dragon and Street Fighter ran in to when they were adapting the materials for their films.
The material just doesn’t lend itself to a serious adaption in live action and there for they have to stray so far away from it that it becomes almost unrecognizable.
Granted the DB franchise has way more substance than a couple of arcade games with no story what so ever other than brand recognition but I think DB is just way too out there for live action. So the filmmakers have to pull back and in the end end up with something that’s not anything like the source material.

  32. So rather than try and hope to appeal to as many people as possible (knowing the fanboys will hate it anyways) your idea is to not make it?

Guess they shouldnt try to cure cancer either. Might not work.

That is the WORST advice ever. I do hope you don’t plan to make a living career counseling. Better to have loved and lost? Bet that doesn’t ring a bell huh??

  33. How about they do the right thing and NOT make a dragonball movie, this is perfect evidence as to why they shouldnt. The movie will fail in all aspects. As a fan of DBZ I wish they would just let it be. Not all sources of media are meant for the big screen or live action.

  34. You mean like the last “dragonball” movie in 1989? With the main character “Monkey boy”?

Yeah, because THAT gem was so “loved by millions” and was so “true to the source material” even though it was considered “unofficial” Chinese adaptation.

The series is ridiculous and silly. So no matter what they did the drooling fanboys are going to hate it.

  35. well, heres my problem…
I’ve always wanted a DBZ film made. If nobody did it, my goal was to do it myself (unlikely, but still my main goal in life).
They instead decided to start the franchise at Dragonball instead of Z, very understandable.
Problem is, this is starting to maybe look mediocre. I really wanna see sequels which would be DragonballZ with villains like Vegeta and Freeza. But with the first film looking this bland, maybe it wont make enough money to warrant a sequel, and all i have left is this “meh” as my Dragonball movie, and probably never again will a dragonball reboot be attempted (it was hard enough, and took long enough for them to get the “ball” rolling for this film as it was…)

  36. I think the main reason us Dragonball fans are pissed, is because if this movie sucks, they won’t make a new one for years… And that means we just lost our only chance at seeing a Dragonball Movie.

  37. I agree Philipo, except for the part where you think this movie is aimed at the fanboys.

This movie is aimed at the general action/adventure movie going market. They already know that good or bad, the fanboys will likely at least give this a viewing (even if they say they are not). They have to appeal to a broader movie patron demographic for this to be a success.

People are going to hate it because it wasn’t exactly like the cartoon. Which as you mentioned would be RETARDED on screen. Seriously, all the badguys look moronic and are named after vegetables. Putting that on a feature live action film would be as dumb as PeeWee’s Playhouse.

  38. the producers of this movie were fucked from the get-go anyway – if you make it exactly like the cartoon it’l be terrible (its basically Monkey! mixed with Superman) but if you change it to a more realistic setting (like they kinda have) it’l not be seen as Dragonball, therefore pissing the fanboys off (main market this film would be aimed at).

also most people wouldn’t have seen the original Dragonball (when Goku’s a kid and its a lot more of an adventure story) and would of grown up on the far better and more action oriented Dragonball Z (when Goku’s an adult superman with a whiny son – Gohan).

im still pretty excited for this film as i kinda dig the direction they’ve gone in and i hope its taken on its own merits. plus i like routing for the underdog lol

  39. Being that I barely ever seen the cartoon and the only characters name I know is Goku, I actually thought it looked pretty good. Anytime you got Chow Yun Fat in a hawiian shirt do kung fu fireballs, than its worth price of admission

  40. OH NO
    nononon this IS a raping
raping raping raping. they change some stuff, right. but in order to STILL be dragon ball they have to keep somethings. like the characters names and how they look. well. they failed at even those things.

this is a total rape and dragonball will bleed to death from the anus. this is NOT dragonball

WHY did the makers of this movie see this video and say “okay, cool. lets green light it” did they REALLY think that THIS trailer would get people saying “oh im watchign that” ?

    my god.

  41. I’m a Dragonball fan since about.. 6 years of age and I’m in my early 20s now. I grew up with it, and loved it. Do I think it looks TERRIBLE? no. I don’t think it looks great either. I think it looks like.. just a fun adaption. I accept that it’s just that. An adaption.

It’s not gunna ruin my image of Dragonball, as it’s, again, an adaption. I’m interested in seeing it because, well, I know the ten years worth of story that I’ve seen/read over and over and over. If the movie is bad then I always have the anime/manga to fall back on. Plus, the new animated special came out.

Get over it kids. It’s not going to ruin your life if it’s a bad movie. Just pretend it doesn’t exist as it will probably just fall into the annals of crap movie history if it is indeed bad.

  42. Nice try Kracken, I have no affiliations with Fox whatsoever.

I just call it how I see it, and I wasn’t impressed with this, but it looked better than most people are whining about.

So if I reserve judgement until a movie comes out and speak honestly about how I feel about the teasers and PR then I am a sell out?

    Fail.

  43. Rodney I’m basing my comment of “raping the franchise” off of everything the studio has presented thus far for the movie. How can you possibly think anything shown looks good? This movie will fail in every way possible. Don’t hide behind the thought that this is an adaption, this is complete garbage. The trailer looks like a fox family special.

  44. looks better than I expected. Nice visual effects.

The main guy doesn’t have Goku’s personality at all it seems tho. Perhaps they didn’t want him to be overly goofy tho. At least that is how I remembered the character. Very naive and silly unless he is in combat.

  45. raping the fraqnchise: well thats simple….they made a movie (a co. not tied with BIRD STUDIOS) some millions of people loved……know all those people will hate this and complain…..when u make a movie based of fanfare..u should make it so the people that would actually pay for it like it….rodney your funny and usually have good opinions but that comment to me is wrong……cause basically who will go see this if the FANBOYS say taht it is horrible….would u pay to see this over say….ANYTHING OUT THE SAME WEEK….. haha im not a fan boy but even i see why this movie will be a failure

  46. @Rodney

Adaptations are fine and dandy. In fact, I’m a firm believer in that a property MUST be changed in order to make a smooth transition to the big screen from a different medium. However that film must still hold true to the core elements and themes, the same FEEL as the original material for it to be a proper adaptation. There is nothing in this trailer or any previous ones that seem to retain the feeling of the original series.

It might end up being a perfectly fine movie on it’s own, however as a Dragonball movie it seems to be failing. Why is it wrong for the fans of a series to expect a movie version to at least keep the core elements of the original? I sure as hell don’t expect to see Oolong the Communist Pig or any of the other talking humanoid animals, but is Goku still the happy, innocent, never without a smile, complete and total dumb ass that never quites no matter what? To me that’s the core of the Dragonball story and I don’t see that in the material presented so far.

…Plus it just looks cheesie as hell. :P

  47. Most fans are simply jealous that their favorite franchise is going out with some douchebag loser studio. But based on their backlash, I’m not convinced they’d be any better for Dragonball either.

Give it time. Either the studio will get better, or the two will break up and someone else can pick up Dragonball on the rebound after some time has passed.

  48. Has a DB fan there’s no doubt I will go see it and if I end up enjoying it, I’ll eat my words and admit I was wrong.

This is not much of an example but it’s kinda like the first JJ Abrams star Trek pictures came out, when the fans went crazy over Kirk wearing a black shirt.

Maybe it’s because I had a different vision of the live movie. Man, I know i should have took the directing job.

  49. So how is it “raping a franchise” if they are adapting it.

Get a dictionary kiddies, “adaptation” means changes. They adapted Transformers to the screen. They made changes. The movie was fine (I loved it, some didnt)

They adapt stuff all the time, and it doesnt mean they are “raping it”.

If the movie comes out and sucks … fine. But you are already assuming it will suck and you haven’t even seen it yet. By the trailers I have seen so far… its not bad. Could be worse. But not bad.

  50. I’m a DB fandude and this looks like complete shit. I’m sorry but there’s nothing similar to the series other than the names of the characters. It may have evolution in the title but it’s still dragonball.

It looks like they made the movie for 12yr old fans and people that don’t know what’s dragonball.

  51. I laugh at all the DB fanboys here. Fanboys always make me laugh. The movie looks alright and seems like it’ll be an enjoyable way to pass a couple hours. Fuck what everyone else thinks.

  52. This movie looks terrible, reminds me of the trailer for Dead or Alive.

Rodney just becuase they added a word to the titles name does not make it okay that they are raping a great franchise.

  53. That looks really bad.

It is amazing how much they will spend on CGI on such bad movies like this over and over when the only people who will enjoy will be between the ages of 11-15.

Just as a random thought – How many times can movies repeat the exact same “large explosion” shot with the camera ground level and the dust shooting up? Seriously? I’ve seen that same expensive CG shot like 50x times by now!

  54. Rodney, guessing from your post your probably to old to give 2 shits about Dragonball, an I myself am far past the age of actually being a fan of the series as well. But I have to say there’s no was you’d be saying that “It’s ok because it’s an adaptation” if this were something that you’d grown up watching as a kid (whatever that show(s) may have been)
Seeing as none of this so called “adapting” was actually needed to bring the story to the big screen it has done nothing but make it look cheap and no less outlandish that it otherwise would have been
    The bottom line:
DBZ fans unfortunately have more reason to hate their film than the Transformer crowd does.

  55. Aw, man – this trailer drops frames on my favorite shot where Goku boots the guy in the face.

Otherwise, I always like some surrealism in my movies. Even if I never heard of Dragonball, this trailer would still get me into the theater.

  56. no just no stop the madness i really dont want to die inside wehn i see this movie (yes i am seeing this movie becuase i am a fan and i have to at least give it a slimer of a chance)
