Ace Ventura 3 – Jim Carrey Free

Ace-3-KidWe’ve heard whispers about it for a while now, but apparently it’s all signed and official. There is an Ace Ventura 3 coming. As if that wasn’t bad enough news (I LOVED LOVED LOVED the first one… HATED HATED HATED the second one), the third installment won’t even be about Ace Ventura. As a matter of fact, Jim Carrey isn’t involved with the project.

So if “Ace Ventura 3” isn’t about Ace Ventura… then who, you may ask, is the movie about? Why Ace Ventura’s son obviously!. The good folks over at MovieHole give us this:

Young Josh Flitter has signed to star in the third “Ace Ventura” movie, with David Mickey Evans (“The Sandlot”, “The Final Season”) directing. The Jim Carrey-less sequel sees the son (“Nancy Drew” star Flitter) of the oddball detective step into his father’s shoes to take over the family business. Animals, Impersonations and Captain Stubing appearances ensue.

I’m at a loss for words. Let’s see…. an old Jim Carry film, made again without Jim Carrey that focuses on a younger character or younger version of the Jim Carrey character. Gosh… for some reason that sounds familiar… what could it be??? OH RIGHT! Frigging Dumb and Dumberer, and Son of The Mask!

What the hell are they thinking?!?!?! This is an outrageously stupid idea, and has total disaster written all over it. Later in the interview, Ace Ventura 3 director David Mickey Evans said he let his 3 children decide what movie he should do next…. and they picked Ace Ventura 3. Hey Mickey… how about you let your children pick your next investments and doctor too.

Am I missing something here? Is there anyone out there who thinks this is GOOD news? If so… what am I overlooking?
