I’ve talked a lot about how much I loved the Asian film Infernal Affairs multiple times on this site (the very best cop movie I’ve ever seen), and how much I’m looking forward to Martin Scorsese North American remake “The Departed” with an almost perfect cast: Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin… HOLY CRAP! Well, The Departed poster has just been released (via movieweb). I like it. Nothing earth shattering… but it’s pretty good.

I thought the original was okay, but flawed enough to be ripe for a remake. That we’re getting that from the MASTER, who’s teaming up with Jack Nicholson for the first time, and with an amazing cast – that’s something to get excited about.
You’re right about the poster, though, John – it’s nothing to write home about. It does have a retro, seventies feel to it, which I hope is an indicator for the tone of the film.

This is one time deal guys. They took the important aspects of all three films and made it into one film.
so do YOU think it’ll be a hit? yes i didn’t like the Hong Kong version.. but if it didn’t make a hit i’d still be really disappointed.
I think it’s a one shot for now. If it’s a hit they will probably make the other ones too.
i’m asian and it shames me to admit that i didn’t like infernal affairs. the best part of the movie was Eric Tsang (i think his name was), the blondie fat guy.
but holy cow i’m looking forward for the departed, i dun think they can go wrong with martin sheen, matt damon, jack nicholson.. but i’m orried it might be ocean’s eleven/twelve. u know.. too many stars in one movie, evrybody wanna hog the limelight.. i love ocean’s, but something was off.. hopefully the departed will be a longer movie, especially the 1st one, to develop the characters nicely.
john, are they gonna make this a sequels kinda movie, or just one shot? since the infernal affairs was 3 parts.
