New Poster for Spike Lee’s Oldboy

So, Spike Lee’s Oldboy is a film we have been anticipating for a while – and it is due for release this November!  A remake of Chan-wook Park’s 2003 Korean film, it looks like it will be pretty damn good with Josh Brolin taking the lead, with performances from Samuel L Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen and Michael Imperioli.  Check out the new poster below:

Director: Spike Lee
Writers: Garon Tsuchiya, Nobuaki Minegishi
Screenplay: Mark Protosevich
Starring: Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson

Now this poster is pretty artistic and dark – the reverse of the earlier poster we saw. Here Brolin means business – he’s suited and booted with his hammer in tow, clenched fist, with a face oozing with revenge and hate. It seems natural. In the trailer we see him break free from a chest in the middle of a field, exposed to natural light for the first time in 20 years, squirming. Now, that part of the trailer was great – intense with a mix of emotions, however this does not reflect in the older poster, shown below. It’s a little forced and unnatural, glasses on MIB style, an angry clump of grass in his hand, raring to jump out and seek revenge. What one are you feeling the most?
