Katsuhiro Otomo’s ‘Short Peace’ Trailer

The trailer for Katsuhiro Otomo’s next animated work(s) has been unveiled. Short Peace is an omnibus (a volume containing several novels or other items previously published separately) of four shorts by Otomo (Akira, 1988 and Steamboy, 2004), which is slated to open in Japan on July 20 of this year. The trailer itself is a flurry of visuals and if you’re a fan of Otomo’s work, it’s definitely something to check out. The trailer and details regarding the omnibus are listed below as well.

In addition, Koji Morimoto (The Animatrix’s Beyond, Memories’ Magnetic Rose, Noiseman Sound Insect, Genius Party’s Dimension Bomb) contributed the film’s opening animation. Short Peace assembles “top creators at the leading edge of Japanese animation, exploring possible future avenues of expression.” Short Peace is also the title of a collection of Otomo’s manga shorts that was first published in the 1970s.
