Chris Columbus to Direct Superman?

Hey guys, quick update here on Superman’s next film. Last information we got regarding a new Superman film was that Christopher Nolan said he and writer David Coyer came up with an idea of putting Supes in a modern day context. Rumors then swirled that either Goyer or Nolan’s brother, Jonathan, would be directing it. Apparently now, another name as to who could direct, has been thrown into the mix.

CinemaBlend states:

Superman Homepage is reporting a rumor that Chris Columbus have been offered the director’s chair for the next installment. According to “a source inside the studio,” Columbus is viewed as “the right fit” by Warner Bros., and that nobody from either DC or WB things that Goyer is “good in that arena.” Columbus’ previous films include Adventures In Babysitting, Mrs. Doubtfire, and the first two Harry Potter films.

Remember guys, this story is an unverified rumor of course. But if it’s legit; No No No! C’mon WB Seriously? Chris Columbus? Wow. You’re tapping the guy who did Mrs. Doubtfire and the first two Harry Potter movies (the worst of the series) to take on the most recognized superhero of all time? You gotta be kidding. They should’ve let Bryan Singer do his epic sequel in the first place. Or now, just give it to Jonathan Nolan. I trust him more in the director’s chair, with Christopher guiding him, than having Columbus doing it. Wow. Hope this is a rumor. Please!

What do you guys think?

  1. I didn’t care for Usual Suspects.
First X men was just OK
    X2 was good.
I hate no other movie more than I hate Superman Returns.
    Valkery(spelling?) was bad.

    1. While you’re completely entitled to your opinion The Usual Suspects was an excellent film which broke barriers. It was a movie of deception at its best. Valkyrie was pretty good. I think “bad” is too strong of a word to use. Also, I wouldn’t say X2 was a fluke at all. Singer knew what he was doing the whole time. As for Superman Returns, you can’t blame Singer completely because he was only one person in a team of three (the others being Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris). I do believe he should have taken the film in a different direction. You can blame the studio though. Superman Returns is pretty much the same movie as the first Superman with Reeves. Why the studio ever agreed to go with that script is beyond me? Same villain and almost the same plot. It was very disappointing.

  2. I don’t want Jonathan Nolan directing this because he has no experience what-so-ever. Columbus may not be thea very good director, but at least he has experience directing. I’m not saying I would want him directing, but just get someone with experience. As far David Goyer directing, well, just watch ‘Blade: Trinity’ and ask yourself if that would be a good idea.

      1. Yes but did we have Chris Nolan overlooking Blade Trinity? No we didn’t and if he had Blade Trinity would have been a completely different movie…
