Willis, Cooper & Paltrow In M. Night Shyamalan’s Next Project?

Did Shyamalan’s 2008 The Happening leave you with a bad taste? Will this summer’s The Last Airbender help him get back to his old prosperous self? Apparently some of his A-List actor friends think he can. It is reported that Shyamalan is shopping his new script around town…

AICN reports:

Heat Vision is reporting that “Last Airbender” writer-director M. Night Shyamalan is shopping a new movie project that would reunite him with his “Sixth Sense”/”Unbreakable” star Bruce Willis.

Nothing more is known beyond the fact that Bradley Cooper (“The A-Team”) and Gwyneth Paltrow (“Iron Man 2”) are reportedly loosely attached as well.

I love Shyamalan’s work so far. Yes, The Happening was the least one of my favorites (it sucked!). I’m not surprised that Willis would want to work with him once more; the job both have done together has been awesome (See The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable). Also, I’m pretty excited that Cooper and Paltrow would decide to take a risk and work with him.

What I really wanted was those two sequels Shyamalan had in mind for Unbreakable. Might this be it? What about you guys? What do you think?

  1. Well, if they got all these stars ready to go, or at least definitely interested, I’m taking that as a sign that Shyamalan has sharpened his pen and done written something awesome again. At this point, I think he’s way underrated anyway. If Airbender brings back his box office mojo, expect great things again…

  2. The Sixth Sense was great and Unbreakable is one of my favorite movies. Signs was ok and I even enjoyed The Lady in the Water, but The Village and The Happening were terrible. I’m looking forward to seeing The Last Air Bender and wonder how he will do with a movie that doesn’t contain his trade mark WTF moment at the end. The guy is a talented director, but I think he’s gotten stuck in the formula that made Sixth Sense such a hit. He needs to stop trying to fool audience and just make a strait up movie. I’d like to see what he can do with a script without the gimmick ending.

  3. Loved the first three but the last three have gotten progressively worse imo… the happening was so not happening. The acting was some of the worst I’ve ever seen and that can only fall on the director as I know the actors in that film have much more talent than was seen on screen.

I’d love to see this guy get back on track.

    1. I think I remember reading in some interview that he was considering doing a smaller thriller in between parts I and II. I guess this is it.

Anyway, I’m one of those people who loved all his movies except The Happening. I’m looking forward to seeing what this turns into.

  4. Shyamalan is one of those writer/directors who is either knock your socks off incredible – or stab your own eyes out with a pen horrible. But most of his movies have been incredible, save for The Happening. I look forward to anything M. Night puts out.

Must say – two more parts to Unbreakable sound great to me.
