We have all speculated that there’s an unknown villain within the Avengers. I think it’s the Kree, others say it could be the skrulls, but a new contender has emerged thanks to some careful sleuths scouring the toyline sites. Today we find out that the hidden villain might be The Red Skull.

This makes so much sense that I’m surprised that I haven’t considered this prior. The Red Skull, the Cosmic Cube, whole shared universe thing… it just makes sense. I’m really curious about what you guys might think about this. It could just be a toyline needing to borrow characters from other movies or it could be hinting at something actually within the movie. I don’t know but I’m sure some of you smart guys reading have a few ideas…

Nah, it’s looking like the Kree to me.
I think it would make sense to have Red Skull in the film, but… there has to be something else. Let’s not forget that this film will be a huge setup for a sequel.
I can only hope that it’s Thanos and if you remember in Odin’s trophy room in Thor there was the Infinity Gauntlet. So, as unlikely as it seems, it’s not entirely out of the question that Thanos shows up.
Thanos is an interesting theory but almost seems too ‘grand a villain for their first ensemble film. Maybe by Avengers 2 or 3 they’ll be ready to go that much of a cosmic route.
i have strong doubts that the red skull is going to be in the Avengers movie, but i am pretty sure that Loki will be in it (unfortunately). I do believe that they are guilty of being lazy and taking characters from other movies to fill in the villain spots. In my opinion i would really like to see the Kree or the Skrulls..some kind of villain from the ‘Avengers’ universe.
I’m not reading into this. I think they just named the last 2 movie heroes and their corresponding long-time nemeses. In fact I’ll be kinda disappointed if its Red Skull, a villain we’ve already seen. If that’s the case why hide him from the trailer footage. We’ve seen him. We know what he’ll look like. Plus there’s been no set photos of Red Skull and several of Loki on set. Doesn’t add up for me. That’s hardly a surprise.
Not surprised. Some months ago, that rumor was online.
Not surprised at all…it makes perfect sense with Loki and the Red Skull being the main villains after the events of Thor & Captain America
