  1. I know Keanu is a terrible actor but I agree with John that The Replacements was decent escape and for what it is – he’s a good fit for The Lake House.

  2. jay I hope it does as i want them to make up for that awful thing they gave us last time but I just have this feeling it wont happen. warners more than likely do love the pitch and the treatment but they as they said it would have to be cheaper than the last one and siunger promises more action. considering they spent 250 million on the other one and the action was minimal (not to mention dull) it will be interesting to see if they can write and action packed script and bring in a budget that warners agrees on.

don’t take it the wrong way though…I love singer and have eveyr faith in him as a film maker I just think superman returns was a big misstep and hopefull one he gets to correct.

now as for that alien vs predator trailer …. am I the only one seeing it clearly?
it is so obviously desperate trailer.
all anyone can say in praisde is “awesome – theres heaps of deaths and killings!!woohoo!!” thats it. showing all that violence is just a ploy to hide what i bet is a fucking terrible movie…..I can’t believe you guys think it look so great. it looks fucking awful. completely awful.

  3. Alfie,
According to this article at Filmick Warners loves the treatment that Singer and Co turned in.

    Here’s an excert –

“What’s Gonna Come Of The Man Of Steel?
I’ve had a great tip off that traces back to a decent source with links within Warner Bros. It reveals quite a bit of exciting info about how The Man of Steel is going to go down when Brian Singer steps back behind the camera next year.

Apparently, Singer and Mike Dougherty have crafted a killer pitch and ‘concept draft’ that had the suits eating out of their hands and even had a knock-on effect for the plans for JLA (I’m told). Several key story points were made clear by the pre-production conceptual art, and here are some SPOILERY details of what those images revealed”

Take it for the rumor that it currently is, but if true…

  4. Everytime y’all talk about The Fantastic Four movies, I think y’all completely miss the boat and don’t get what the movie was try to do. I think that The Fantastic Four movie was made more for kids and it is a completely fine movie for that audience. I don’t think FF was made for you guys or me at all.

Why do I bring this up? I think this might be true for the Justice League movie. I have nothing to base this on but I think this movie could work in that same way. And if they’re planning on have Superman and/or Batman, it’s the only way it could work.

  5. Ahoy lads. I just want to say this was a really great episode. I really enjoy these round tables above all else and enjoy Bruxy’s juxtaposition to Doug, and Darren’s unique view, whose moments of comedy at times rival Doug’s. And John for keeping things on track.

    That’s all.

  6. All this fucking about with Justice League has erased any excitement i had for it (which wasn’t much). I’m just not listening to any of it until i see a trailer.

And i have to say, i didn’t care enough about AVP2 to watch the trailer until i heard you guys talking about it. Now i will.

  7. While it is sad that Owen would attempt to kill himself, it is a good thing that he did not succeed. Yes, he is a good actor, but while the breakup with Hudson may have played a part, could I give another theory?

His career itself. Yes, there was Wedding Crashers, and the occasional film with Wes Andersen (which is Wilson’s best work: Bottle Rocket, Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic) I also thought he was alright in Behind Enemy Lines, and he was okay in the Shanghai flicks. But here it is, and it was mentioned: his “laid back persona” in the majority of films he is in. He barely gets away with playing the same character- his beach bum, laid back persona. He has range, he has talent…but that’s all he’s offered…or that seems to be all he takes.

For every Tenenbaum or Crashers, there’s a Starsky & Hutch, I Spy , Big Bounce, The Haunting…or You,Me and Dupree. I know that’s a tough thing to say. But Wilson’s only real ‘lead’ roles have been ‘Minus Man’, ‘Big Bounce’ and ‘Behind Enemy Lines’.

It may be something other than Hudson or his up and down career. It may in fact be a minute of breakdown, and I’m just glad someone was there to help save the man’s life. I hope Owen gets whatever help he can get, and get re-adjusted.

And, before you think I’m being a mean spirited person, let me say that SUICIDE IS NOT A FUNNY MATTER. ‘If you can’t joke about suicide, what can you joke about?’ That crosses a bit of a line, gentlemen. It doesn’t matter who attempts it or who sadly succeeds be it any method.

    ********

I don’t think JLA will happen. It would be a BAD idea for Welling to be Superman in JLA. Consider ‘Superman Returns’ and all those rumors regarding him before Routh was cast. Remember the reasons against him taking it? It applies here too. Does Tom Welling want to be typed? Okay- go for it. He is a good actor…but he can’t always find a Cheaper By The Dozen and he should stay away from horror remakes (Fog), but really.

Oh, and call be crazy, but I always liked Dean Cain. (More to the point, I loved Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane, of course, but that’s another story).

AvP2: There it is! The highlight reel of a film that is gonna blow. Not screened for critics, sandwiched between holiday films. No real buzz behind it. All I hear is “It’s soooo cool that it’s a R” Please. That wasn’t the problem in the previous picture. The problem of the previous picture was the picture itself was a novelty and nothing else other than being a wink-wink to the audience, and a crapfest dressed up like a department store window.

  8. how can anyone interfere with the continuity of the singers superman franchise when it doesn’t exist???

seriously though does anyone else besides me have a strong suspicion that superman returns part two just aint going to happen???

  9. But I’m almost positive now that he DID try to kill himself. If it was untrue, his people would have denied it by now. The more that they don’t say, the more that they actually DO say, if you know what I mean.
