Top 5 Movie Sequels to Anticipate in 2026

The most bittersweet thing about movies or even TV series is when they have a sequel. You know the plot is thickening, you’re excited to see how things unfold, but the wait is just excruciatingly long. Well, these movie sequels are coming out in 2026, so gear up.

1. Avengers: Doomsday

Whenever it’s an Avengers film, it is going to come with a hefty dose of anticipation, and Avengers: Doomsday is no different. Sure, we won’t be seeing Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, but Robert Downey Jr. will be making a comeback, just as the main villain this time. It’s the Avengers vs Doctor Doom, and things are about to get even more intense in the MCU. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Florence Pugh, and others, Avengers:  Doomsday will still make you wait until the end of the year, but it will be worth it.

2. The Devil Wears Prada 2

Still waiting for approximately 20 years till the sequel drops, just goes to show the dedication and obsession of The Devil Wears Prada fans. The comedy-drama film, starring Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and the GOAT, Meryl Streep, is finally getting a sequel, and everyone and their little devils are counting down the seconds till May 2026. It is set after the events of the first film, and it’s an employer vs ex-employee. The stakes are high, retirement is peeking from the corner, and Miranda has a lot on her plate. What will happen? Well, it’s not too far to find out now.

3. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

The prequel series of The Hunger Games is getting a new installment, and it’s a different kind of feeling when you get to see the backstories of all the characters in the Hunger Games movie franchise, and this time, Haymitch Abernathy is under the spotlight. Why he turned out the way he is, why he has that melancholic and complicated expression on his face, you’ll find all the answers in Sunrise in the Reaping, which is set over two decades prior to the events of the first Hunger Games film. The feature stars Woody Harrelson, Joseph Zada, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, and McKenna Grace, among many others.

4. Toy Story 5

Who says playtime is all fun and no problems? Ask Buzz, Woody, and Jessie what they have to go through in the fifth installment of the sensational animated movie. Toy Story 5 has evolving toys, children gravitating towards technology and *gasp* AI, and the Toy gang is sensing trouble. Will kids really move on from good old toys and embrace the new playtime in town? Or is it just one big hurdle in the path of the Toy gang, and they can stop the growing havoc? Starring Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Anna Faris, and others, Toy Story 5 will be a blast from the past, but it aims to hit the target.

5. Spiderman: Brand New Day

Spiderman, a.k.a. Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, is set to leave the red and blue suit behind and start his life at college in Brand New Day, also starring Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo, and introducing Sadie Sink in a new role. However, things take a turn when new threats rear their heads, and once again, Peter has to make the decision to save his city and friends.

If you were left confused, anticipated, and in a never-ending loop of time, because your favorite movies hadn’t come out with a sequel yet, then 2026 is your year.

Happy Watching!
