Connecting the Evil Dead Legacy
The Evil Dead Burn franchise is preparing to expand its mythology in a significant way. While previous reports confirmed the film would share connections with Evil Dead Rise, star Hunter Doohan recently revealed that the upcoming installment aims to weave together story elements from the entire saga, including threads dating back to Sam Raimi’s original trilogy.
In an interview with Out Magazine, Doohan discussed his character, Joseph, and how the film integrates established lore. He noted that Joseph is working on a book regarding his grandfather’s research, specifically mentioning that his grandfather knew Professor Knowby. As fans of the series know, Professor Raymond Knowby is the archaeologist whose discovery of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis and subsequent recordings unleashed the original nightmare.
A Mythology-Heavy Chapter
Doohan expressed his excitement about the script, noting how it connects the lore through the whole franchise. By bridging the gap between the original films, the more recent Evil Dead Rise, and this new chapter, the production appears to be creating a more cohesive history for the Deadite-filled universe.
While plot details remain largely under wraps, the official synopsis follows a woman who seeks solace with her in-laws in a secluded home following the loss of her husband. The situation quickly devolves into a nightmare as the family members are transformed into Deadites. The film is directed by Sébastien Vaniček and is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 10, 2026.
For fans who have followed the series since the 1981 original, this focus on deep-cut mythology is a promising sign. It suggests that the creative team is looking to honor the foundation laid by Raimi while continuing to push the franchise into new, terrifying territory.
